I went here as a child. I went from kindergarten to 8th grade. I am now an adult and I am just now figuring out how much damage this place has done to me. To be fair, things may be better now, but be warned if you are not southern Baptist/conservative, you will not align with the teachings here. I still remember being taught to be modest and being told those are for your husband. I learned some good basic skills like reading and math, but I dont know if the years of therapy and unlearning so many things I was taught (like that it is a sin to deny my husband) was worth it. I was taught this in 8th grade!! That is insane.

If you are serious about your faith and stellar academics, you will love WCA! Our student just graduated from this wonderful school. From the Head of School to Administration and Teachers, there is a consistent bar of excellence, yet Christ-like humility. The teachers genuinely love the kids and they are treated with great respect. During our time at WCA, our family was faced with two unexpected hospitalizations and administration immediately asked what they could do for our family & came alongside our student with prayer, support, and encouragement.

At WCA there is a place for every student, whatever their goals may be. WCA graduates have gone on to Yale, Harvard, the military, the workforce etc. WCA puts Christ first & is so intentional about pouring into the students and loving them so well. Our student grew spiritually and academically & the fruit from these years is more than we could ask or imagine. We can see why WCA won the WRAL Best Private School Award! Thank you WCA!

Absolute waste of tuition, they have zero valuable resources comparable to other private Christian schools in the area. Not enough classrooms for the few classes they provide, no extra optional variety in math, science, or social studies beyond the minimum core required subjects, and far too many teachers that are either underqualified or under-perform in their classrooms. Administration cares far more about the teacher they hire being devoutly religious and aligning with their specific brand of baptism than being knowledgeable in the class subject. So if you would like your child to be hearing multiple lectures on Calvinism, abortion horror stories, or why animals dont get to heaven in English class instead of reading the Scarlet Letter, this is the place for you!
I went to this school for 13 years, K through 12, and my overall experience from all that I can remember is extremely negative and painful to be honest. I did not feel supported or welcomed as a child that young should have. All the personal religious interpretations from teachers over the years confused and scared me. Those lectures I mentioned were real and they were one of WAY too many unfounded, ridiculous tangents that occurred across all subjects.
I left frightened, anxious, and at an intellectual disadvantage compared to most of my peers once I reached college. Not to mention all the fun events and activities I didnt even realize I missed out on until then- due to the lack of resources again. What bothers me most though is that I remember far more of those colorful Bible stories I was told than anything of actual substance I learned.

Wake Christian Academy is a very awful school. If you want your child to get bullied and made fun of and the teachers not do anything about it, this is the perfect school for you. The education here is okay though they pile work onto you and give too much. The teachers dont care about your grades, though some do and you are most likely to do homework for 3 hours straight and studying. It is such a small school and rumors spread fast. I used to go to this school, would not recommend.

Our girls have been at Wake Christian since kindergarten (6 years) and we couldnt be happier with our choice. The staff and administration are the most caring and supportive group of people; more so, their focus is that each student develops their relationship with the Lord. The curriculum is current and the expectations are high, which is another thing that we appreciate. We have no doubt that our girls will be adequately prepared for college when they graduate. The security is top notch; I never worry when I drop them off in the mornings. If you are contemplating sending your kids, I would 100% say yes! You wont regret it

WCA presents well on the surface, and the teachers are dedicated Christians who genuinely care for the students. However, challenges exist within the administration at all levels. Parent input is often not given much weight, and there is a sense that only a select groupprimarily alumni, including several senior administrators who were former classmates of the Head of Schoolare truly heard. While the school promotes parent involvement, it tends to be within the framework of following administrative direction rather than fostering a true partnership, even for families who align with the schools biblical foundations. For those outside the inner circle, the experience can feel transactional, with parents viewed primarily as financial contributors and students as the product.

Wake Christian has a family-like atmosphere even though it is one of the larger private schools in Wake County. The teachers and staff are what makes Wake Christian standout above everywhere else. They truly love the students they teach and care about them beyond the classroom.
Wake Christian has a high standard for their education as well and all the students I have known that have graduated have been prepared for the next level much better than their peers.
The focus on the spiritual is also a high priority at WCA. The faculty and staff and coaches truly pour into the lives of the students and try to point them towards Jesus Christ each and every day! We are very thankful for WCA!

Our family has been part of WCA for over a decade, and our experience has been very positive. The school provides a nurturing, faith-based environment where our children have thrived.

Wake Christian provides a supportive, caring community where students have access to great academics, activities, sports, fine arts, etc. Our son attended for 9 years and had an excellent experience. He grew intellectually, socially, and spiritually. WCA launched him to college and his career goals. Communication is great. Support is great. Cost is reasonable. School response to parent concerns is great. Safety is extremely important. Parent involvement is strongly encouraged. We dont think we could have picked a better fit.

My kids have been here since starting kindergarten, and it has been one of the best decisions weve ever made. The school is not perfect, but the staff and teachers are kind and welcoming. They love the Lord and they love your children! Your kids classmates families become your second family. My oldest son just graduated last year. He is totally prepared and breezing through his freshman year in college, and he registered as a sophomore with all the AP credits he graduated with.

Firstly lets remember this is not a school. It is a academy with lack regulations and measures of learning. It was started by memebers of the illustrious White Citizens Council and I quote that said the jungleizing of school would ruin white kids. Academys that are some kind of idealogical shelter should not exist. If they cant qualify as schools then dont exist. This kind of institition is a mess.

Absolutely love this school. As a parent I feel heard. I feel like I am a welcome advocate for my student. A large percentage of the teachers and staff were graduates of WCA which tells a lot about their passion for the school and the students. They offer many sports, great summer camps, and a variety of after-school activities.

Wonderful and academically rigorous elementary school! My daughter has grown at an unbelievably fast pace, both socially and academically this year. The community at Wake Christian is wonderful, and the elementary staff are all so welcoming and encouraging to all their students. Couldnt recommend this school enough!

As much as children can like school, my kids have loved Wake Christian. I can't say that I agree with every rule or every decision ever made, but this is a loving, nurturing christian environment. The faculty and administration love the Lord and they love these children. I have 2 children who both started in kindergarten and are in high school currently, and they both intend to graduate from Wake Christian Academy.

Terrible example of a Christian school. Put my daughter in the outs to begin with. Bullying not handled, racism not handle, ranking sins and even saying they dont know if people with intellectual disabilities go to heaven. Also teaches flat earth in middle school. Only support the people who look, think and act like they do. Horrible

It was okay. Some teachers were good. Some were bad like, a teacher called us racist because we said a Chinese city wrong even though we didn't. One time he also gave a student a silent lunch for looking at someone. Another time he gave someone a silent lunch for looking at a clock. and a math teacher gives us silent lunches for picking up a pencil.

I'm so torn how to review WCA - on one hand it is filled with loving teachers, warmth, and general academic rigor - HOWEVER I have been gobsmacked at the way the Bible is being presented. Though they claim to be non-denominational, WCA is 100% evangelical/baptist. I am a faithful Christian who grew up with a blend of Catholic and Methodist churches, and identified politically more in the middle, and was sooooo naive as to what an "evangelical" was and what would be taught.

I assumed Bible stories would be taught, but that interpretation of those stories would be left to the household. It couldn't be further from the reality.

I was so exited to send our children here, expecting them to develop a faith in the Lord and Jesus' teachings, and they absolutely did that, but I was shocked to realize that WCA is telling children that scientists are wrong, dinosaurs weren't here millions of years ago, that only men and women should be married, that they will burn in a fiery hell if they misstep or lie, the world is flat, etc etc. I didn't realize those things would be part of the daily curriculum starting in 1st grade.

If you are an evangelical or Baptist Christian, I do actually recommend WCA (aside from the largest issue being the low quality of the school buildings/offerings itself.) It will be a place where those deeply conservative believes are pushed by administration and staff on all levels.

If you are a Christian who is in any other category however, be it Catholic, Episcopalian, Methodist etc - I would just warn you that the little ones are going to be steeped in highly conservative atmosphere and teachings. I thought we could stay, that we could provide a counterpoint to the right-wing beliefs, but my kids began to suffer. They came home questioning their young faith MORE after a few of the misguided lessons they were taught and it was heartbreaking.

We are moving our kids to a private, non-religious school, and I will work to teach them at home and through our church that Jesus' teachings are based on love, acceptance of others, and rebukes of the ones manipulating scripture for selfish motives.

This school is great if you are interested in a Southern Baptist school with old world views. I made the mistake of sending my 9th grader here and when she came home and said the history teacher said the Earth was flat because it says so in the Bible I was done. Not to mention she spent the first few weeks of school being bullied by a group of girls so bad I had to contact the parents. After that she continued to sit by herself at lunch. This school is extremely hard to be a newcomer and break into existing friend groups since they have been together since Kindergarten. If your child is diverse or unique in any way, they will not fit in. On a plus, my daughter loved her teachers. Not a school for anyone other than extremely Southern Baptists with narrow minds. We lasted 8 weeks and had enough!

had 2 students there; both left in 8th grade; elementary teachers were better and more caring than middle school; middle school staff and administration are not equipped for middle school-age children and are very judgmental; students are not given grace to get past even the first mistake; girls are much preferred in this environment; middle school admin are brutal; sports program in middle school is poor; no real "help" given from teachers to students; staff quickly categorize the students and pick the favorites; middle school admin pinpoint the students that will "tell" on others even if not true; only can recall 3 middle school teachers that were effective and really qualified

10/10. I love this school. They insist on parent participation. I have never been on a field trip where every kid had to have a parent and ALL of the kids behaved. They do a lot of hands on activities. Spanish in kindergarten? Yep. The elementary school is rigorous. The parents are involved. I am definitely trying to get middle child in too. The only two downsides are no transportation or sibling discounts.

Mrs. Peterson has a classroom management style that has kept school a positive experience even while correcting my child's behavior. They teach the kindergarten kids through songs, lot of songs. My daughter is an auditory learner and is absorbing the material effortlessly.

At least at the kindergarten level, I know that behavior is always looped back to being a bucket dipper or bucket filler. They tie everything to scripture and getting at the heart issue of problems. We were even given a book, "Shepherding Child's Heart" which details how to parent the heart and not the behavior. It's been good.

My child hasn't been bullied, but I do know that the kids are suppose to handle arguments between themselves before asking a teacher. My oldest is a tattle tale. If someone was being mean in her class, I would know about it. She is constantly telling me who got a snake stick each day.

Rather than simply assign homework relevant to topics the students should be learning in school, this school assigns absolutely awful homework. In the science and math classes, the homework includes answering problems given in the book itself. These problems are simple enough once one knows how to answer them; however, neither the teacher nor the book explains how to solve each problem. As a result, students turn to either looking for the answers online in turn learning nothing or simply giving up. In the history and English classes, the homework is literally useless. Many of my friends ace everything without even having to do the homework, but in doing this we learn nothing. Overall, Wake Christian clearly has missed the point concerning appropriate and relevant/helpful homework.

Like in most schools, there are good teachers and bad teachers. The math department is overall very competent except for some of the lower level courses. English is also pretty adequate. On the other hand, the history and science classes are either hits or misses. The school knows the problems in these departments, but they refuse to solve the problem out of respect for the many years of service given by the teacher. The higher level sciences are awful. Both physics and chemistry are absolute trainwrecks. Not one student is able to learn the material due to the inadequacy and unqualified state of the teachers. As a result, most of the teachers are pretty good and actually care about the students; however, the few truly awful teachers overshadow the rest.

This school cares more about what the girls wear than the education they are receiving. If a girl's pants aren't pleasing to the vice principal they are immediately sent home even if this means missing a test or quiz. The amount of stress they put on the students to meet their standards is ridiculous and uncalled for. This school used to not be this strict and was more understanding of how hard it is to buy clothes that meet their standards. I am extremely disappointed in how this school is being run with the new leadership in place.

As an alumna from WCA, a 13 year one at that, I can easily attest to the Biblical morals to which the institution adheres. My 5 star rating does not say that the school is perfect, but that I gained valuable lessons concerning my faith, ethics, morals, and character that I believe I would not have gained elsewhere. However, I cannot promise that sending your child here will turn them into a Bible-thumping Christian, it will only attempt to instill values that are mimicked in the home. I am so thankful for the relationships with friends, families, and teachers that I made at this school which have lasted to this day.

We have 2 kids in elementary school at Wake Christian. We are more than pleased about our experiences with this school! Our youngest struggled in 1st grade. The alert, well-qualified teacher recognized the signs of Dyslexia, and it was confirmed with outside testing. Obviously we were concerned about how the needs would be met in 2nd grade. The love, compassion, and attention to meet the extra needs, reconfirmed our decision to send our kids to WCA. The self esteem of this child has increased dramatic as a direct result of the interaction with the 2nd grade teacher. Since we began at WCA, we have always felt welcome and included in all activities. Every year I continue to see the school thrive and move forward. Beginning this year, the summer activities/camps have increased to meet the needs of working parents. For us, it is a financial struggle to send our kids to WCA, but it is WORTH IT!

We have a second grader at WCA and we have been very happy at the school. Are the buildings brand new? No, but what this school may lack in aesthetic appeal is made up for in quality of learning environment and education. Our second grader is challenged to stretch each week. The class is moving at a remarkable pace and bringing him along with them. I like that I can send our son to school and know that he is learning about the world around him AND things of the Lord. When needed, both teachers and administration have had an open door policy with us for meetings and/or conferences. WCA has a great formula when it comes to a loving family atmosphere. They are not RIGID, but they do have high expectations of the kids that are reinforced through a variety of discipline systems. Parents are welcomed most any time and there are lots of volunteer opportunities if you like to get involved in your child's class. We considered 2 other private schools, and I can say that we haven't regretted the choice we made. WCA is made up of great people who really do put their hearts into the children.

We have had a wonderful experience with WCA since moving to Raleigh. My son's teacher has been great about communicating with us throughout the year on his progress. She has really helped him with his confidence both in and out of the classroom. The school offers a wide range of programs for students to learn outside of the classroom through various clubs. The school has a competitive athletic program also, which is important to us. WCA is a very positive and encouraging school with a Christ-driven philosophy. You can tell the staff and teachers at every level truly care about the students and parents. There is a strong parent-teacher-student connection at the school. Now, by no means are the kids that attend WCA "perfect", including mine. There are still your normal everyday "kid problems" with behavior and such, but the school does a fantastic job at working with the kids to guide them and develop them through the rough patches. WCA is truly a Godly school and we couldn't be more pleased with our experience at WCA and look forward to many, many more years!

We have 2 children in elementary school and we are very happy with the support and care given to them. This is our first year at WC and so far so good. Our kids are learning at WC and at times the homework assignments can be long; but parents who place their children at WC are committed to a Christ-centered education. WE also understand that WE are part of the success of our children's academic career and that takes our time and effort. There are pros and cons, but we knew that we wanted our kids here after the tour. The staff was fantastic at answering our questions and concerns. The open door policy relieved our anxiety. It's not just lip service, we have found that the school REALLY does have an open door policy. Parents are encouraged to participate and get involved with the school. Unlike our experience in public school where parents have no rights, WC has continued to commit itself to the building up of each family. Is WC perfect?......of course not. Are the people who work in the building perfect?....no. But when you walk through the halls and kids are working hard and STILL SMILING, you feel you're witnessing something special. We're glad we're here.

Kindergarten and First Grade were fantastic years; however, Second grade needs an overhaul considering their teacher quality. Concerns have been floating around about teachers who "bully" their students and our family believes it's happening in Second Grade. Our child's teacher really concerns us. One student in her class describes her as MOODY. He doesn't trust her. Our child stays in a state of fear. We tried to talk to the teacher and Principal; however, neither see anything wrong with the culture of the classroom as the response is WE WANT TO GROW YOUR CHILD UP. WE want our child to feel loved, safe and excited about learning (not bullied by the teacher). Our child's love for learning has faded this year. This teacher may be a more appropriate teacher in Middle School. One more thing, YOU can't change the terrible problem of the curriculum fed teacher in Second Grade. Be warned, there are very little opportunities for hands on learning in 2nd. It's all worksheet based. We wanted another year like K and 1st-great teachers who have JOY and who TEACH, not TELL. Second grade earns an F; which makes this once supportive family of WC very, very sad. Our future is unclear at WC.

I was there from kindergarten all the way to Senior year, and let me tell you, this school is a joke. They do not prepare you whatsoever for the real world, and my first year of college has been very challenging because of that. They shelter kids way too much here. They don't prepare you educationally either. The math department here is the biggest joke I've ever seen, and even though multiple people have complained about it, they have done nothing about it. The teachers do not care at all, and sometimes are bigger bullies than the kids are. Everything was fine until I hit middle school. That's when I realized what this school was really about. If you have a lot of money and fit the mold of the typical preppy rich kid, you'll do fine. But if you're just an average kid like I was, prepare for the worst, or better yet, just get out of there. This school is not worth your money, trust me, I was there.

Each of her teachers have been passionate about education, their Faith and our daughter's development. Wake Christian Academy has done a great job improving every aspect of the school in recent years. As a graduate of WCA and the parent of two graduates I have seen the school transform in the last few years. WCA has done an excellent job preparing students for college while providing them with a Christ centered education. My children were accepted into every college in which they applied including NC State, Appalachian, and UNC-Wilmington. Students of WCA have the opportunity to play on competitive sports teams, play in the marching band, the orchestra or handbells. They also have an outstanding art department. The administrators, faculty, staff, and coaches genuinely care about the students and make the school feel like a family. In addition WCA reaches out to the community and teaches their students to "give back". I'm so proud of what WCA has become.

As with any school situation, it is not perfect, however, the school's staff and admnistration continue to focus on making improvements. Wake Christian is an excellent school in all aspects. The curriculum is academically strong, (including the upgraded math curriculum introduced in the 2012-2013 school year); the teachers are top-notch and genuinely concerned for each and every student; subjects are taught from a Biblical worldview; and the campus continues to be upgraded and improved upon each and every year. The sports program is competitive and offers a variety of options for students of all interests. The Fine Arts department, likewise, offers a wide-selection of classes. Every year I am thankful for how the adminstration, faculty, and staff strive for excellence in teaching and helping our students to become the people God needs them to be. I currently have children in the high school and the middle school and they have attended Wake Christian throughout their school careers.

Our child transferred out of a local public high school setting. The administration, teachers and students all made us feel welcome and very much a part of the WCA family even though we were moving in at a much older age. A smaller academic setting was the biggest benefit as well as having rules that were actually enforced and fair to all. Teachers and administration was consistent and truly cared about each student achieving their highest potential. Individual respect, drive and committment towards success in all aspects of life were evident at every level. These are priceless returns on the sacrifice of the tuition investment. Nothing is more valuable than the investment in our child's future! Wish we would have moved to WCA years ago!

My children (3) have gone to WCA for the past 6 years. I have one who recently graduated and is in nursing school. WCA does a great job of educating my children. The oldest was prepared for her college classes and is doing very well. WCA is like any other school, you get out of it what you put into it. Students who want to excel can. My oldest got into every school she applied too except one.

Honestly, having attended Wake Christian from Kindergarten through Senior year, I can tell you that although this school is not what some (what I believe to be slighted students) reviews have been saying, there is some truth there. The biggest problem with Wake Christian is the education. The math department is very poor in quality, and I was not prepared when taking the ACT or SAT. In fact, I didn't even know how to do geometry because of how poor the teaching was in this area. The teachers do care. It is a loving environment. Bullying IS NOT a issue, and the admin is very prompt in addressing bullying if so, but altogether the education DID NOT prepare me for college. I have several friends who did much better than me on the ACT and SAT that attended public school (for free). If you send your child here you will most likely waste some money on education. Not on care and devotion but on solid education. If your child is planning on attending college, do not send them here. Other than that, the teachers are great, staff is great, and it was a good atmosphere, I just didn't learn properly..

I am a former teacher and student in the Wake County Public School System. In recent years, I have kept a close watch on the turmoil and changes that are constantly occurring within the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS). With that being said, my wife and I would have elected to send our child to Wake Christian Academy even without all the turmoil and constant shifting of school assignments within the WCPSS. We have found that the teachers sincerely care about the children and the small class size allows for much more individual attention. The smaller class sizes and the expectations of the teachers have enabled our son to read and do math well above grade level. Wake Christian Academy does have a dress code and a code of conduct that are not found in most other schools today. Perhaps most importantly, it is a Christian School. They reinforce the Christian teachings and the Biblical world views that our son receives at church and at home. They Pray, and have Bible study while giving our son an outstanding education. These are several of the things that we LOVE about the school.

I have a chid who is on her third year at WCA and while I started with some trepdation, I can only echo the sentiments of the "not so happy other rating"; "Please, just come and visit". It is one of the best school experiences I have ever had. The administration is attentive, the teachers are well prepared, experienced, loving, kind, firm and caring. Mrs. Bowers, (kindergarten) was my child's first favorite teacher and then Ms. Gore (first grade) and now her new favorite, Mrs. Ramsey (second grade). She can be a bit reserved and so dreads moving up each year, but then ultimately exclaims that she just loves her new grade. If your heart is with Christ, or you just want a solid foundation with a basic moral compass being instilled in your child, than WCA, is certainly the right place. Just one last thought, I would much rather my child be in a school where she is loved, seen as an individual, and given proper instruction (superior), then have to deal with the attitudes, bullying, bad language etc. of the alternative. This environment makes my job as a parent, Simply Enjoyable! Bless you WCA! Thank You God for christian character!

My son is a new student at Wake Christian and loves it so much. We have attended two other private schools in Raleigh and to us nothing has been better than Wake Christian. I wished I would have put him in Wake Christian a long time ago. The teachers I just can't say enough about. My son is soaring academically and he just loves learning so much this year. He is getting homework done a head of time and this shows me how much he loves the environment at Wake Christian. I would recommend it to all my friends and family. We are having a great year. I know there are many more blessing to come to this school for the good they do with the students.

My children have been going to this school for over 7 years, and I am very impressed with the administration and staff. I know that my children are cared for and loved, as well as taught on a highly academic level. I've personally witnessed teachers taking time to pray with children, as well as seen senior administration pick up trash or fill in wherever needed. I recall many upgrades done in the past few years to the buildings, grounds and technology department to bring them current. It is a well-established, spiritually growing, and academically challenging school that I am proud to send my children to each day. I can't imagine them going anywhere else!

This is a very safe place for a child to learn and grow. The teachers care about your child and their success. The administration in my experience is very responsive and puts the students first. I never have had an issue with the buildings being older. They are all very well kept and clean. It is hard to name a campus that is more beautiful in the fall season. The Wake Christian families are all very familiar with each other from an active campus life. Not only is the education top notch, so are the values that they teach.

I would like to tell you about our experience at Wake Christian Academy. Both of my children attended Wake from early middle school to graduation. Being a public school teacher myself, I know the opportunities in public and private education and I could not have been more pleased with what Wake Christian had to offer. It was a balanced Christian environment, with caring, qualified teachers. Not only did they offer all the major sports but also a top notch music program. The AP classes prepared them very well for college. I highly recommend Wake Christian Academy!

As an alumni and a parent of 2 alumni, as well as many other family members we have all come out of WCA prepared for college. I believe the number of doctors, lawyers, and especially the number of alumni in Christian service would show that WCA is doing its job in preparing and educating students. No, the school is not for everyone, but to say the classes are out of control, when I personally know of children who have been dismissed from attending the school for bad behavior in the classroom, seems rather extreme.

Wake Christian Academy is a great school. My husband and I have only been pleased with the Christian worldview the teachers proclaim. The academics are above par, which can be seen in the annual test scores. Students who graduate are accepted at many of the top colleges and universities. I am proud to be a WCA parent and to have our daughter enrolled in their program.

Wake Christian is an AWESOME school! Both of my children have attended since kindergarten and love it. We gave them a choice to attend public school and they chose to stay at WCA. No school is perfect, not even WCA, but the comments here are extreme. Our experience has been a good one. There is always room for improvement, but I don't understand trashing the school's reputation by saying it's 'horrible.' This year's class has students attending UNC (3 students accepted), NC State, Campbell University, Liberty University Appalachian State University and multiple others. Those universities would not have accepted those students if they were not prepared. WCA is not for everyone, but it is a great experience if you come in with the right attitude.
