Spent months jumping through hoops, getting everything squared away for my children to attend here. Testing, etc. My 5 year old was accepted, my 7 year old needed multiple testing sessions. Took the school over 3 weeks to just get back to us with the testing scores after attempting to contact them weekly. Then the lady gives us 24 hours to make a response. Then apparently dis-enrolls my 5 year old and fails to inform us. We find out about this 4 days prior to starting school after attempts were made on our end wanting to know when the parent teacher meets would happen with no response. The breakdown in communication from this school is horrendous. And then the audacity to say "Try again next year". Save yourself the time and hassle, go to a different private school that's actually there to support families. Upon finding out that Gramercy just left us hanging on 08/14/26, we contacted Annunciation, and within “two hours” we were meeting the principal, touring the school, meeting the teachers. That alone should speak 1000 words.

If I could give zero stars I would. I would never recommend this school to anyone. My child went there for three years, the first two were amazing then he hit fourth grade and it was chaos. From problem students that never got reprimanded to teachers also bullying students. There are teachers there that do not represent any sort of “Christian” values. The principal does not talk to you like an adult and belittles you when you don’t agree with the way her teachers are handling situations, you cannot question her or she just forces you out. This school destroyed my child’s self-esteem and drive to go to school. Would never recommend to anyone.

Gramercy is an amazing school and I'm so happy my kids attend. The administration and staff truly partner with us in our kids' education and are also guiding lights in our kids' growing faith. The kids we've known who have graduated from here have gone on to have successful college careers at some top universities but more importantly have developed strong, faith-based characters. I love that all the kids have an opportunity to play sports, be challenged academically, study the word of God and be taught by teachers who have genuine care and concern for them.

In our experience the school does not have the ability to offer assistance for those with disabilities or adhd. These children are just put in the classroom and can’t be offered extra help and get punished or no recess because of things they simply can’t help medically. Teachers suggest meds for a 4 yr old for their convenience. And we were told we can’t return the following year. When I say distraction I mean things like (singing, talking when teachers talking, easily distracted by toys) ya know like any 3-4yr old. Definitely did a number on my kids self esteem.

Gramercy is a fantastic school. If you are looking for a Christian based school that ACTUALLY cares for the students and parents and teachers. They have added and improved so much the past few years. All of their teams are very sportsmanlike.

This school makes me question my beliefs… what Christian teachers BULLY? THESE teachers do! From the 3rd and 4th grade teachers to the Athletic Director and many in between… they pick favorites and humiliate the others! My daughter reported to me first hand witnessing another student being hit over the head (hatefully) with a book! It’s SO SAD what these children are exposed too… and the younger ones don’t even realize it’s wrong… they are told that they should choose who they want to be INSTEAD of being ‘shown’ positive role models. I’ve been in the school and seen teachers say hello to some children and intentionally ignore others. Save your money! Those of us paying big money, our children are being distracted by those who don’t even have Christian beliefs and only go here because they qualify for aid (and the school wants the money vs an empty seat). This school does not have the ability to offer assistance for those with Special Needs and these children are just put in the classroom and offered no extra help! Sadly, their needs are a distraction to others (at no fault of their own, yet the school not being able to help them where necessary).

Elementary school here was great(attended from 2003-2016). The education level was much higher than other schools, but 7th grade and on was a total nightmare. There are things that happened around this school that I still carry around with me today. If your child is not gifted in math, science, or sports, do NOT send them here. I’m currently working on a Bachelors of Music in college and I can tell you right now that my school did NOTHING to support my academic decisions. My clothing was sexualized, as was any makeup worn by ANY girl in high school. There is no room for self expression because they want their students to look the least appealing as possible to “protect” their male students from becoming distracted. I was dress-coded every single day for my normal uniform clothing just because I had a larger bust size than the rest of my high school (no joke). If you had an important last name, you were treated like a King/Queen (that is, if your parents donated big bucks to the school). One girl could walk by me with shorts halfway up her thighs and it’s okay because “she has longer legs than the rest of us”, but I am required to wear men’s polos to cover up my body. There was one teacher I had that would pull you into her office just to bully you in private (she is gone now). I never had a normal day at school, from 7th-12th, because I was either being sent home for my clothes that were by NO means inappropriate, or being ridiculed by my peers and teachers for not excelling in calculus and chemistry like they were. Bad school, isn’t like it used to be when I was little. You wouldn’t know it was Christian if you walked inside without knowing. Even the Bible classes were biased based on the specific teacher’s religious beliefs instead of teaching from a set lesson plan. Their Sex-Ed class is a joke (they had only JUST started it before I graduated). It teaches girls to be afraid of sex, preaches abstinence, and doesn’t talk about other forms of contraception, which I think is ESPECIALLY important in today’s society. They would just tell the guys to “be careful, wear condoms”. That just isn’t fair to their students. I do not recommend this school to anyone unless you enjoy being ridiculed and bullied.

My current roommate and I attended middle school here together and my whole class bullied her to death. Stole her gym clothes, dumped perfume all over her in the bathroom stalls, mocked her, the list goes on. The school never did anything about it. Eventually bullies move onto the next victim, and the process begins again.

My children are happy at this school and are doing very well. I wouldn't have them go anywhere else. As a military family, we choose to stay here and have them attend at this school rather than move them around. I love that Christian character is an integrated part of the school and how things are taught and run. There is grace and forgiveness, yet students are held personally responsible when they should be. The teachers love these kids and see their work here as a mission or calling rather than merely a job. The leadership at the school is awesome and responsive--very much responding to and caring for their charges. The school also accepts and integrates kids on the opportunity scholarship and that is wonderful!

The school is not equipped for significant issues, however, for learning differences that are not also behavioral, they work with each student individually and help ensure they are successful.

No school is perfect, but they do everything they can. If any bullying is discovered, they do deal with it as quickly as possible. It is not allowed to continue and to fester.

This school is outstanding. The teachers truly love the children they teach. They see it as a mission rather than a living. The students are caring and helpful and the leadership is amazing. Contrary to a previous review, there have been 11 grads go on to the academies in the past 160 graduates. That parent needs to do real research because they are misinformed. This is a Christian school where all are encouraged to do their best. There are always issues among teens, but so much less so at this school than others. The test scores are good because of the excellent teachers and caring staff.

If your child is academically gifted, athletic, and personable this school will be great for you. If not, and especially if your child has even a slight special need you are in for a rough ride. Bullying is an issue.

We've seen good schools and bad schools. Gramercy is undoubtedly the worst. More of a sham really. They sell hard to new Marine families who couldn't possibly know what the community already knows. As far as 11 grads going off to academies, whichever administrator wrote that needs to do their math. I know of 2, precisely. To be fair, there is one english/speach teacher that is outstanding. We grieve that he has to be at Gramercy.

Awesome. In the last 11 years, Gramercy has had 6 graduates accepted at US. Military Academies (Annapolis, West Point, Coast Guard Academy). Is this even possible! The average graduating class averages in the tens. What! So, when you read reviews that trash the leadership and academics, be more than a little skeptical.

Teachers are challenged to carefully plan homework that is meaningful and effective. The teachers follow the "10 principle"--10 minutes of homework x the grade. I.e., A third grade student should expect an average of 30 minutes of homework in all subjects. A 5th grade student should expect to have 50 minutes of homework in all subjects each night. Middle and high school fluctuate homework demands based not he nature of the course. Most teachers will consider the suggested homework provided in the curriculum and will modify based on student or class need. Parents are encouraged to set up a conference with a teachers if their child seems to exceed these maximums on a regular basis.

Gramercy Christian School is rooted in the teachings of Holy Scripture, and bases our practice and policy around its tenets. Gramercy is also a partnership with parents. In this partnership the school faculty relies on the support of parents in regard to honesty, integrity and fairness.

Superb education with excellent teachers who truly care about their students. Beyond the extra time and energy that they invest, the teachers establsih the basis as a Chrsitian school in the love and care that they show towards the students. Top notch education with brilliant graduates to attest to it. Wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Concerning the administration, if the problem was simply one of plain old incompetence, that would be bad enough. But, a scheming dishonesty is common in these people. Run. Don't walk. Protect your child from this. Notice the dates of the reviews positive reviews. Notice the patterns. Notice the defensive propaganda. This school embodies some of the worst forms of selfishness and fraudulence.

Homework given is not productive or meaningful. Regarding homework, this school has bought into the public school philosophy, seeing the assignment of homework as some sort of sign of competence by the school..."Hey look, we assigned homework! We're doing our job!"

As a military family, Gramercy has been such a huge blessing to us. We came to Havelock three years ago in hopes of finding a solid Christian environment in which to enroll our three children. I have been blessed beyond words that God led us here to this place. The teachers here take a personal interest in each child and pray for them daily. They will stay after school if your child is struggling and needs extra out of classroom time. I'm overwhelmed by the care of each teacher. Education that is centered around God is of utmost importance to us as a family and this school's staff exceeds my expectations daily.

My children have been enrolled at Gramercy Christian school for the past six years. I could not be happier with the education they are receiving, and more importantly the biblical worldview they are developing. Every teacher I have encountered has taken the time to get to know my children as individuals. They have instilled a love for learning and a deep love for the Lord. My youngest child accepted Christ as his Savior while sitting in a little desk in his first grade classroom. That teacher took the time to share the gospel and the love of Jesus each day with her students. Most recently, my oldest child has astounded me with the level of her relationship with the Lord. She has a bible teacher who challenges her daily to be in the Word and live it out. She has developed her own walk with the Lord and seeks after Him daily. As a parent, I could not ask for more.

I am a teacher at Gramercy, and I was shocked and saddened to see some of the negative reviews posted about our school. There is no perfect school because we as humans are not perfect. However, we serve a perfect Savior, and I can truly say that all of my colleagues, and I truly seek to honor the Lord through teaching at Gramercy. We strive to provide a high quality education that challenges and equips our students. After graduation, many of our students earn scholarships to go on to four year schools, while others have gone on to earn appointments at military academies. As importantly, our goal is to prepare and equip all of our students with the tools they need to stand firm in their faith when they go out into the world. They are taught to question, and seek truth so they will know why they believe what they believe. They are given opportunities to grow and develop their own talents, and leadership abilities so they can be successful in a competitive world market. If you are looking for a place where teachers, administrators, and board members seek to honor and serve the Lord by providing strong academics and a biblical worldview, Gramercy is the place for you.

We will never forget our experience at Gramercy. Extreme deception is the only way to describe it. I think a previous reviewer got it right, What a disservice to the community and to the church. Our daughter struggled academically and needed some help. Instead, what she got was bullying, not only from a couple students (in the click) BUT FROM A TEACHER. The teacher s bullying was the most destructive, by far. The principal blew me off and the school board doesn t seem to care about anything but playing pretend and selling their school. We went to another school. From what I hear from currently enrolled families, it sounds like it hasn t gotten any better.

By any meaningful measure, this school is simply failing disastrously. Be careful of the school's hype. Ask around town to get an authentic and honest picture of what's happening there. Chronic teacher bullying problems (that is, the teacher is the bully), low academic standards, good teachers generally don't stay, etc. This school is looking for the next nice, unsuspecting Marine family from Cherry Point to stay afloat. It's just a shame.

Gramercy has been a blessing to my family. My son started out in public school and we then switched him over to Gramercy. The benefit of learning through a Christian worldview is beyond words. The teachers have been supportive and genuinely concerned about my son s education and personal growth. In the public school I was concerned about the disrespect the teachers showed to the students; the teachers spent their time yelling at the kids rather than teaching them discipline and respect. At Gramercy the student are valued and treated with love and compassion. The class sizes are perfect- many of them have around 15 kids. I am confident that he is learning what he needs to succeed in college and life based on what I see in him and the evidence of the success of prior Gramercy graduates. There is no other school I would rather him be part of.

I've been around this community a long time and have seen this school, which used to be OK, continue to deteriorate professionally and morally. I even had my own son in there and donated money, when things were run better. I hope they can find and hire someone who can turn it around. Unfortunately, based on what I'm reading below (esp. in the Sept. 2 review), it sounds like the school is not willing to deal with their problems but is in denial and pointing fingers rather than fixing things. Of course check it out for yourself. Maybe all these other people are wrong.

A friend of mine warned me about this school but I didn't listen. What a mistake. I just wasted several thousand dollars and a year of my kid's life. I don't know who's writing these very positive reviews (they all sound like commercials). Maybe it's the school itself. We can't wait for the year to be done. The best word I can find for what I've seen at this school is "sneaky".

Besides the stimulating curriculum (which includes Bible courses) and caring, loving environment, Gramercy also offers several opportunities for organized sports (with more opportunities due to the small student population) including soccer, basketball, and golf for boys, and soccer, volleyball, and basketball for girls. My two boys played basketball, soccer, and volleyball. I fell like they had a very rounded and balanced experience. Mind, body and soul!

This school is the best option in the entire area. We tried the public schools which were a hugh failure, especially for an academically gifted child. The public schools celebrated all religions but Christianity, refusing to even acknowledge the Christian heritage of our history. They couldn't manage to pull together a curriculum for an academically gifted child and at Gramercy, the curriculum is on such a higher level that nothing extra was needed. Students are responsible early on for their performance, providing excellent life lessons. The teachers and staff here love all children and care about each one individually. My son's teacher is the first to understand him and really appreciate him. My daughter adores her teachers and is exponentially happier than she was at the local montessori school where she was bored. Coming out of K, she can read and do math at the level my son came out of 1st grade at in the public school. This school is reasonably priced and the best bang for the education dollar out there. Worth every penny and not at all like disgruntled parents who were trying to walk on others make it sound. See for yourself how wonderful this school truly is.

Gramercy is a wonderful school with teachers and staff that care. Our kids love going to school, and they have learned so much over the 4 years they have attended. It is hard to read the few negative reviews, because we have not encountered any of the bad things the posters stated. Take the time to come by the school at one of the open houses and meet the staff/teachers. Our family highly recommends this school!!

We can't recommend this school - our kids were new this year and have encountered one problem after another with several teachers, and with the administration. While there have been some bright spots with some of the teachers, the majority of our kids' classes have had serious problems so we can't justify the cost of attending. We considered withdrawing during the year, but have decided to try to stick it out and then do something different next year. It's hard on the whole family to feel trapped, just waiting for the year to end.

I graduated from Gramercy in 2009 and I am preparing to graduate with honors from one of the nation's top private universities with a BS, a BA, and a minor. My success in college is a direct result of my experience at Gramercy. I was raised in the school, being there since the age of 7, and being a part of the "family" of the school. The headmaster and the teachers at Gramercy promote a passion for learning, not just skills at repetition. Children at Gramercy are shown how fun it is to learn and to apply knowledge, new and old. The environment in Gramercy is one of unconditional love and support so that children develop as confident students, discovering the best way to learn. Not a day goes by that a child is not encouraged to growth in their faith and love for the LORD. Graduates of Gramercy are blessed with a strong worldview and character that enable them to enter the world and continue their lives without losing sight of who they are and what is truly important, and without bowing to the negative pressures present in the real world. They also leave with a competitive education and knowledge base; I entered my university with 2 large merit-based scholarships.

My 3 children have attended Gramercy for the past 3 years. They have had a wonderful experience, and we feel blessed to have found this school for our children. We looked at several schools in Carteret County and after much prayer and consideration we picked Gramercy. I love how structured, knowledgeable and caring the teachers are. They are in no way behind public schools like a previous poster stated. If you have questions ask to look over the curriculum and compare. The tuition is so much cheaper than many other private schools, and we love the easy uniform code. They have buses that pick up in New Bern, Havelock, Beaufort and surrounding areas. One key point that I really want to stress is that every school day my husband and I have complete peace that our kids are getting a wonderful education with teachers that really do care!
