Cary Christian School has blessed my family by nurturing the hearts and minds of my two children. They offer a Classical Christian curriculum (if you don't know what this is, I recommend taking the time to learn about it!). The school has offered my kids the tools they need to think critically and live out their faith. My kids love the school and I love seeing them grow and thrive there. The dinnertime conversations between my 9 and 11 year old are often deep and scripture related (I wish I could take all the credit for this). We're constantly impressed with how the teachers balance academic excellence with a deep sense of responsibility to nurture each child's character. The school has done a great job with hiring qualified teachers that genuinely love the Lord. The sense of community is remarkable and there are many opportunities to get involved (esp. in the lower school!). If you're looking for a great school, consider taking a tour of CCS!

The bible teacher in 8th grade has told the students in the class that any non-protestant Christian will go to hell. He literally said the Catholic will go to hell. That was so hateful and painful speech to the students. We send our kids to a Christian school to receive an academic education founded upon a biblical worldview based on the school principles and to be treated equally as other students not to be discriminated and feel lower than others. Nobody should judge others and decide who goes to heaven or hell. Only God who judges. That hateful speech and abuse of power over students is not acceptable by any means. i hope the school board and administration are care enough to investigate this issue and take an action. This happened this last week of April 2024.

There is no other school, in my view, like Cary Christian School. This school is the best thing that has ever happened to my children, who joined the school in their 8th and 11th grades respectively. The faculty and staff truly and deeply care for their students. They teach the students how to act with integrity and respect and treat them (the children) with respect also in return. The school is absolutely dedicated to send their students into the world as well-rounded young adults, rooted in strength of character, faith, integrity and self-confidence. This school is my childrens safe haven and happy place - the students love and support each other, have fun in the classrooms and in their different extra-curricular activities and just enjoy the school overall.

We are not a family with a lot of dollars in the bank; this school is definitely not good only to those who have it all made like one of the reviews are implying. The school principle is a man of integrity and character, he engages with parents with sincerity. The Dean of Academics is involved in the students lives and care much more about their overall well-being than only their academic grades. The sports coaches build their students self-esteem by encouraging them and training them with love and discipline. The cultural activities are also of excellent quality. The schools College Counseling, preparation and support are outstanding. The only matter that saddens my daughter about this school is the fact that she could join the school only in her Junior year and cannot spend more than two years of her life at the school.

I can never thank God and the school enough for providing my children with the opportunity to be part of the CCS community, and to grow from children/teens to young adults in such a loving, caring, fun and affirming environment. My children will be well-equipped to enter the grown-up world.

These are definitely the best school years of my childrens lives.

We are thankful for such a wonderful experience at CCS! The teachers love their students like their own. All subjects are taught from a biblical world view. We are amazed at all the biblical knowledge our kids are learning. The students are held to a high standard and the teachers actually teach rather than using computer programs to babysit students. CCS has exceeded our expectations for our children's education!

We have been with CCS since our oldest started Kindergarten and she is now in 3rd grade. We are so thankful for this school. Our own private school experience growing up wasn't great but CCS blows our experience out of the water! Not only do they provide an excellent Classical Christian Education, our experience has been that they also focus on the hearts of their students versus merely modifying outside behaviors. To feel like we have partners in raising our kids in the teachers and staff is such a blessing. To know that my kids are being challenged academically and spiritually is priceless. Seeing them start their journey in Kindergarten with presenting in front of the class as a 5 year old and headed to the finish line of their senior thesis presentation is exciting! I/we know the preparation they are receiving for college and life beyond is top notch! I can't imagine a better place for our children!

As an ex-student, I can tell you about what the parents dont see; a clique filled school that doesnt care about bullying and forces their own specific type of Christianity on the kids. There is no character in the students, with many of them doing drugs and drinking outside of school, and the values that are supposed to be in the students arent even exemplified by the faculty. There is a severe lack of any kind of bullying policy and even if the school talks to students about it, kids dont really care. I wouldnt recommend sending your kids here unless you also plan on sending them to a therapist after.

Not friendly to those who needed social distancing during Covid 19 due high risk factors. Lie constantly. New headmaster is not Christian like at all. Hes very cold and callous towards anyone who disagrees with him. Hes only a friend of those who are well to do. Definitely has a good ole boy mentality in the age of 2020.

We have been at CCS for six years - kindergarten through fifth. We love the teachers, administrators, and students. Our daughters have been encouraged to work hard, pursue Christ and love their friends well. I cannot imagine sending my children anywhere else!

My family has truly been Blessed by this school. My children are thriving here. The teachers truly pursue our children and I love that they get a very Christ centered education at this school. The school has a true feeling of community and loving one another as brothers and sisters in Christ. The children get a very age appropriate and grade level appropriate amount of homework on a daily basis. at the high school level, it may a little more than what you'd expect at a public school but that is only because all of our classes are at the lease an honors level program, with many student taking AP level courses as well. In the lower grades, homework is tailored to take up about 30-45 minutes each day at home at the most, leaving plenty of time for family and fun.

Our experience with the Lower School Dean has been exceptional. He knows the students by name and engages with them regularly. He handles any achedemic or behavioral concern with prayer, ownership, forgiveness, appropriate consequences, creates ways of implementing resources to help, and always follows up again and again. We have two children, one in elementary school and one in middle school. Both have really enjoyed CCS AND more importantly both have grown in their love for learning at this school. When we finally arrived to the point of decision to apply for our daughters entry into Cary Christian School, we knew we had found a school where she would thrive, educationally and spiritually. Its biblical worldview, and classically oriented curriculum, are held at a level of highest esteem. It is a beautifully organized, structured environment which enable students to excel in all learning exceeding beyond typical bounds. We know this only occurs because Cary Christian School is grounded and steadfast in its purpose in the cause of Christ, operating and founded in the Lords truth. Our daughters transition has been seamless and joy-filled. She is excited for school every day and indeed, as we knew, is thriving. Our grandchildren attend Cary Christian Elem. school. Every time there is a program scheduled, we attend because we are so thrilled to see what they are learning. The curriculum is varied, and the kids thrive on the teacher enthusiasm and attention. We are amazed at the facts the kids know, the challenges they meet and the way their characters are being built. We are blessed to be able to send our children to Cary Christian. Learning in all subjects areas is continually directed towards the Lord; acknowledging Him as the goal of all education. With the atmosphere of our American culture shifting so rapidly, it was important for us to find a school that shared our home and faith values. Teachers and administration care deeply about the students. CCS has an all encompassing Christian education where our child is learning what it means to follow Christ. Academics are rigorous but teachers work with the kids when they need help. We also love the classical model. Our child is in kindergarten but we can't wait to see how he develops at Cary Christian. We have had three children enrolled in CCS over a period of four years. I have found every teacher and administrator helpful and sincere. The staff are kind and oriented toward partnering with and serving the parents and children. Many teachers have children enrolled in the school, and it feels like a family. The curriculum and homework are just right. Each of my children have been academically challenged, faced certain academic struggles, and yet nurtured to academic excellence and high achievement. I highly recommend CCS.

We have had our 2 children in Cary Christian school from since Kindergarten and we are very pleased with the environment and education. The teaches are well trained and have always been eager to help students succeed. We have two children that go there. Our two children have very different learning capabilities and the teachers have identified their talents and challenges and have worked with them to be the best they can be. Both children are thriving under a disciplined approach to teaching and character development. I am impressed with every teacher and administrator I have met. Since CCS is a private Christian school, they can, and do, spend a fair bit of time on morals and behaviors. This is the most important aspect of the school for me as it reinforces what we teach in the home.

They put 110% into the education of the children entrusted to them and teach them to be not only wonderful students, but God-fearing, Christ-centered individuals who contribute back to society. My daughter began 9th grade this year at Cary Christian. It has been such a warm, nurturing environment where the teachers and staff inspire their students to strive for academic excellence by encouraging the students to strive for their individual best as opposed to competing with peers. This is truly a place of Christian love and compassion. My daughter said the only real "peer pressure" here is to be kind and Christ like. The kids are so good to one another as they have daily reminders they are loved by Christ and therefore worthy. It seems they don't have to try and impress one another with superficial attempts; they know they matter and every staff member at Cary Christian is there for them with a smile or word of encouragement.

We have moved quite a bit and have had a variety of school experiences -- public, private, Montessori, and homeschool. So far, Cary Christian School has been -- by far -- the best in terms of being academically-challenging and also best for character-development and faith-development. I am constantly amazed at the books my kids are given to read, the quality of the writing they produce, and the extensive math and science they learn. They have improved dramatically in the last 2 years at CCS in their academic achievements and abilities. CCS is a wonderful, welcoming community. And as a family who has moved a lot, it has been wonderful to experience the fellowship here like no where else. Every school has its conflicts and every kid has his conflicts...but I appreciate how CCS is teaching my children -- who are certainly no angels! -- how to deal with the people around them. Lastly, I am amazed with how much CCS is covered in sincere and loving prayer. This is a sincere group of people doing their best, remembering that the ultimate goal is to love and teach every child in their classrooms.

We came to this school eagerly 6 years ago after home schooling a couple years. As our child advanced in elementary grades, our experience deteriorated. Very disappointed in the leadership of this school over the past few years. Even the teachers seem to have their hands tied. There are some gems of teachers there, but overall the negative experiences outweighs the positive so we've transferred our child elsewhere. Don't assume that bullying won't happen at a Christian, private school! Not only does bullying and other disrespectful behavior happen at CCS, but the school's leaders pass the buck to the students and families to handle it on their own instead of a more proactive approach by the school. They prefer that parents of the bullied child talk directly to the bullies and their families first which in my opinion puts the victim in a vulnerable position since they lose anonymity. Bottom line is that the education and overall experience at CCS isn't worth the money. Sorry to say this, but we feel it's true and that others need to know.

Had to leave after 5th grade! Practice what you preach doesn't apply after 5th grade. Lack of strong leadership in upper schools. At the "jr. high 6-8" orientation was told that ALL kids receive A grades in electives. How does a principal tell a room of 40 parents who are PAYING for private education that if their kid shows up to class they will get an A? Not many people support the upper schools. Class size goes from about 60 to 45-48 in 9th grade. That really speaks volumes. Numbers don't lie. Kids do not get into top notch colleges. Girls leave in droves as they cater to boys and promote women as home makers. No hands on science classes, no separate math tracks. No American History, just Biblical history. Upper school concentrates on missions and discipleship more so than on Academics. Complaints are brushed off and if you don't like the way they run the school you can leave attitude. It is really sad because the k-5 grades are so good! Wonderful display of Christian love and strong character building in k-5. Grades 6-12 are a complete disappointment.

Found this site today and am happy to see people feel the same way we do. My two children have been at CCS since grade K. Lovely lower school teachers and administration. Quickly after grade 5 the ship sinks. Grades 6-8 lacks leadership. Academics really suffer. Teachers not qualified to teach the subjects they teach. Lots of busy work, but not much meat to curriculum. Science and math classes sub-par. Students transfer out and need tutors to catch up. It is a small school so there are not many electives or opportunities. No advanced tracks. I really do not see how other posters say this school is advanced or rigorous after 5th grade. New Headmaster says the school is service focused and not a college prep school. 18 rising freshman left to go to different high schools last year. School has tried to add to athletics and spent a ton of money to add lights to the football field. Trying to use that to build camaraderie. They should have spent that money on education to keep long attending families like ours enrolled. Sad-as I am on here researching new schools for my children s' HS years. Wish the school would wake up and see the issues they have in the upper school!

I was a HS student at CCS, for almost 2 years. There were a couple of good/decent teachers and lots of bad/terrible teachers. I got straight 'A's. Lot's of busy work but very little actual learning. Mostly easy 'A's. Lot's of homework, but just silly stuff, to keep you busy. Like most students at CCS, my study habits were ruined (didn't need to do any better) and I was bored to tears. In the end, I had very little respect for a lazy and unaware administration. Ignore the hype. Don't do this to your kids.

Hello That was a really nice post. My daughter is going to 7th Grade next year and she will be attending CCS. I see the mixed reviews about the school and I really wish I could reach out to parents that the school is working for them. She is attending public school now and I feel she is not really getting the education she deserves, and to be honest I would like for her to be in a environment where students share her values that are being taught at home. I'm on the fence, but I have to try something different she a really good student and I don't want her to get lost in the system. Thank you again that was a very positive post.

We've had 2 children at CCS for 5 years. We think it's a great school but take it one year at a time. Yes, it is academically very tough and that's the principle reason many leave. If you want a solid Christian education with college prep type academics this is the school for you. Ask them for their test scores and list of colleges graduates attend. For the price of tuition it's impressive but may not be for everyone. Good luck.

Go figure, but, I m not sure how anyone could consider this school academically strong, or tough, or challenging, etc. There s a big difference between academically busy and academically challenging . This school specializes in busy work (read wasting you kid s time). My HS children practically slept through many of their classes and got straight A s (and NO, they re not little geniuses and they don t walk on water maybe a bit above average, academically). People leave (regularly) because they are disgusted with the poor leadership, non-christian environment, and poor (POOR!) teaching.

This is really not a Christian environment and it's certainly not "excellent" or "fantastic" above the 5th grade. My husband and I cannot figure out how anyone could come up with these glowing reviews for this school. I suppose some "drink the coolaid" more readily than others.

CCS is a fantastic school where teachers and administrators are dedicated to teaching a distinctively Christian worldview in all subjects. The course work is academically rigorous from K through 12th and biblically faithful. I couldn't ask for a better school for my kindergarten aged kids. It is the best value for your money in the triangle.

We have 3 children in MSl at Cary Christian and couldn't be happier. It is definitely a challenging academic environment, but that's what we want for our children. This is the kindest, most nurturing environment full of warm, empathetic teachers so I can't imagine how anyone would have such a polar opposite experience than what we have had. Some of the comments here seem...from out in left field, honestly. Some people just have a problem with Christian schools I reckon. But this has been such a blessing for our family. We could finally find peace knowing that our children were in a safe, respectful and loving environment. The staff and teachers not only talk the talk, they walk the walk. It is inspiring and motivating for both the kids and the parents. Its not a big school, but its big enough to have many competitive sports options and arts electives. There are enough kids that they can find a like-minded set of friends, but not so big that they get lost. We have tried public and private in this area, and this has definitely been the right fit for us. That said, you have to be ready and willing to follow the rules. We knew what were signing up for and couldn't be happier.

Cary Christian School: This an christian school first, then academic. I have found, with four children currently enrolled, that it is academically challenging. Many families tend to leave because of two reasons. First, because it is too challenging for their child. Secondly, the social interaction between the males and females is not enough for them. The focus of this school is Christ and academics. Those that find this a challenge leave. This school is not for everyone. We are at this unique, " Classica,l" school because, as of now, we are very pleased with the results. Our child made the top 5% in the Duke Tip Program and is socially active, in this school, with the other like minded families. No school is perfect but this one fits our Christian family well and is academically challenging.

Despite sobering warnings, we enrolled our 2kids, who happen to be the compliant & high achieving type (thank you God). We soon began hearing a steady stream of troubling reports about what was& was not happening in their classes. I finally sat in on 1of my son's mid school classes& 1of my daughter's HS classes (The handbook says CCS supports this but they seemed put out when I asked I was even told parents never do this). What I saw, in the younger class, was a group of unusually willing, even eager students being stifled& at times even shut down by their teacher. In both classes I was struck by the lack of any real interest& ability in the teacher & this while on their best for me. Now the worst part When I reported these things& a separate instance of abuse by a teacher, the accusations AGAINST ME began to fly. The staff s "You think your kids are perfect!" response morphed into You re a menace to the school (& maybe even a stalker!). Stomach-turning stuff no doubt. Anything to hide the inappropriate conduct of the staff. Of course we left the school & we thanked God. While there are some lovely families at CCS, I don't think they understand what this school really is.

Our daughter is currently a high school freshman at Cary Christian School, and her experience since kindergarten at CCS has been very positive. We value the Christian worldview, the rigorous academic standards, and the emphasis on written and oral communication. There are many extracurricular opportunities available in both athletics and fine arts. We have been very impressed with the quality of drama and concert choir training and performances.

We have three children in this school and it has been a blessing to our family. The learning environment is top notch and our children are challanged daily to learn and grow mentally and spriritually. There are many activities offered that provide variety of extracurricular opportunities. We have been very happy with this school over the last nine years.

Cary Christian School is an excellent school both in its focus on a Christian worldview and a classical education. As you can see from the other reviews here, there is room for improvement. However that is the case in all schools and in society in general. There are less than perfect students, teachers, administrators, and families at CCS, just as there are at other schools. In spite of that, CCS shines in the areas that many parents have a concern with, including academic rigor, order in the school and classroom, and the overall atmosphere of learning. Take note of the tone of complaints about the rules and the uniforms. Our experience has been that such families are not generally on board with the CCS model and vision, so they tend to complain about it and want to change it. CCS is not like other private schools in the area and it is unashamedly so. It is not for everyone. Most families that we have seen leave have done so for less academic rigor, a greater chance for their child to play a sport, or for fewer rules of other private or public schools. If you are considering CCS, do not commit to the school unless you understand the model and can support it honestly.

The school has an extremely strong Logic, Rhetoric and writing program as well as teaching the students how to explain themselves, how to present and defend whatever point, subject, topic they are discussing, etc. The atmosphere is reverent towards Christ and is service minded. The Math and sciences are getting stronger as the school seeks excellence in this area as well..

Cary Christian provides an academically challenging environment coupled with a Christian world view. The student body is comprised of talented young people who strive to achieve excellence in their academic, athletic, and social lives. My two sons have attended for several years and we cannot be happier with their development as young men preparing to attend college and face real life challenges. The administration is top notch and the faculty is composed of skilled teachers with a genuine passion to help students learn.

We have two sons in school, one in 3rd grade and the other in 1st grade. They both started in K, and they both love to go to school. In addition to the Biblical world view and classical education system, we are delighted with how the teachers are empowered to hold students accountable. The children are truly being educated and it harkens back to yester-year when we expected more of students in school. We are excited to partner with CCS to raise our boys into young men who will be well equipped to be good citizens and contribute to the world.

Our daughter has been going to the Phonics school for two years and really loves the teachers and fellow students. After any school holiday, she is happy and excited to go back to school. While sometimes challenging, she thinks school is fun. We have been happy with the academically challenging environment. The class room is structured and children are encouraged to learn appropriate behavior which has positive benefits in all aspects of her life. We appreciate the fact that children from K through 12th grade are all within the same school and interact with each other.

I went to this school in middle school. I had some amazing teachers here, and some really awful ones. since there are no set consequences for breaking the rules, it is all up to the staff s discretion. if a teacher doesn t like you they often will pick on you and look the other way for other students. The principle and many of the teachers use intimidation to make you behave. The academics were challenging but if you struggled academically several of the upper-class men tutor younger students at reasonable rates. each grade was split into about 3 groups of 20 and each group went to classes and ate lunch together. If you end up with your friends, it s great. End up with a bad group all year and it will make you miserable. There are too many rules at this school. The polo s must have only 1 button undone, the shirts must be tucked in,, NO cell phones can be turned on or they will take them for 2 weeks, no ipods ever, no music except classical can be played at school. The principle disbanded a bible study in the school because it was co-ed and the young girls should learn from their fathers not other men. He made the girls and boys separate and have different bible studies.

Cary Christian School is a great learning environment! Your children will grow in wisdom and stature as they progress throughout the K-12. We have three students that have been at the school since Kindergarten and are very pleased with the support of the staff in training and nurturing our children in subject matter and love of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Loved the K-5 program, middle school and high school academics are good, but focus is on doctrine, not on academics. We had 3 children attending CCS, all of them A students. Financial difficulties which caused us to re-evaluate our school choice. We withdrew the 2 older ones, the school refused to re-enroll our 3rd one. Also refused to return us the extra money we paid in, even though immediate replacement was found (8 new students arrived the month we left). If you are looking for a loving, nurturing place for your K-5 student, I can recommend the school for K-5, but not beyond. Love and nurturing stops at 5th grade. Middle school is about instilling fear and guilt. Insular and close minded. Principal does not address parental concerns. Half a class was in lunch detention throughout the year. Children are advised not to mingle, make friends with non-Christians. We left. School refused to return our money, also refused to re-allocete it to cover the tuition for our attending child. Please draw your own conclusion. In spite of all, I believe it is a good place for K-5. Still surprised that neither the board nor the superintendent did act in good faith. Questionable ethics.
