We have been so happy here at Holly Ridge Middle School. Teacher and Administration look for ways to teach students independent, there is excellent communication from the staff here. I've read some of the other reviews, and middle schools have the same issues all over. We have not had any negative experiences and have loved out time here at HRMS There are volunteer opportunities, and ways to get involved here if parents have the time.

HORRIBLE SCHOOL. This review was written in May of 2024. I had one child go through Holly Ridge Middle and now have a second child going through there. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCES with BOTH children! My first child was ASSAULTED after he won a basketball game over another child, and the school and the Holly Springs School Resource Officer did NOT charge the other kid. This was not a punch, the other kid waited for my son in the locker room and JUMPED HIM. That same kid then months later assaulted another kid and was finally transferred out. Wake County School District doesn't like to discipline the bullies, and Holly Springs Police doesn't like to file juvenile petitions. Notice how the middle school scores are different than the elementary and high schools? There's a reason! Middle school is horrible as a kid going through it, I get it, but I don't see issues like this in other schools. The teachers are not consistent with homework. Three of my kids teachers don't give her any homework, and the fourth teacher gives her homework EVERY NIGHT. Please do NOT send your kids here.

So far our experience has been disappoining to say the least. The staff and admin has been... kind of a nightmare. As has been our experience with NC schools in general, I desperately wish we would not have moved here. It has just been nightmare after nightmare after nightmare with these schools. I was very hopeful about this one, alas, nightmare.

I don't know why this school has such a low rating. We moved here a year ago during covid and my daughter did 100% virtual school at HRMS, and this year she is in person in 7th grade. She has been thriving, both years. I was very scared about her changing schools right when she started middle school. She came from a charter school in Elementary and this is her first public school experience. Compared to the charters we were at, this school provides a much better education and is equally great at communicating what's going on to parents. I'm a fan of Powerschool -- again we are new to Wake County -- but we use this all the time. Middle school is scary for any kid/parent but so far we love HRMS!

Very good. HRMS is not our base school, we chose it. My child has had a lot of good teachers who show compassion for students and make learning as interesting and fun as possible. My experience has been that safety is a priority and discipline is handled fairly. I intend for my younger child to also attend HRMS.

Administration at HRMS is approachable and they follow-up to make sure your concerns are heard and a workable solution is reached.

My child has anxiety about specific things and the school has worked with us to make sure those issues are addressed. We have not been shamed or made to feel ignored at all.

I attended this middle school a few years ago and i think the school is fine. However, the rules were too strict. I once got in school suspension for taking a grape out of my friends lunch box without persimmon( my friend thought it was funny but the teacher did not). The school also has racial issues that should be fixed. Other than that the middle school is just like most other middle schools.

I like going to HRMS. It is much better than my old school. The school lunch food needs help.

This school has become a circus in the past year. I don't know whats going on but the students are running the school intead of the teachers.

Holly ridge is an amazing school. They help prevent bullying and have amazing sports and club programs and all the electives you could want. The teaching is amazing and you really want your kid in that school.

Holly Ridge Middle School is at best a mediocre school,especially compared to other schools in the areas like Holly Grove. I find the worst features there(I went there for all 3 years of Middle School as a student) is that the staff is extremely strict on their rules. I once did gave my friend a pretty hard high five and one of the assistant principals threatened us both to detention. To this day, I still don't know what was up with that assistant principal. Anyway, other things that were downgrading were the services and the general low funding you saw at the school. For example, we still had computers from the 90s and none of our outdoor facilities had any type of lighting system. Things like this drive me to give a negative score for this school.
