My daughter joined Chesterbrook for 5th grade from another school this year, and we couldn’t be happier with our decision. She settled in quickly and has already made so many friends. Her teachers are incredibly supportive and caring, and the students are friendly and welcoming. The curriculum is well-organized and encourages creativity, innovation, and collaboration. We especially love the foreign language program, which includes Spanish and Mandarin and is offered four days a week, as well as the elective classes available every day, with options for STEM, art, and music. Chesterbrook has been such a great fit for our family!

Chesterbrook Academy elementary and middle school in Cary, North Carolina is one of the best private schools in the research Triangle Park region.
The principal, Ms Lydia Soto is a very good leader. She’s calm, compassionate, supportive and always responsive to parents questions. She’s actively involved in every child’s education and well-being while they are in the school. Ms. Angela Candies is a wonderful pre-K teacher. She taught my son couple years ago and now she is my daughter‘s teacher. She’s extremely loving and caring towards the kids. As my children took their first steps into the world of formal education, we couldn’t have asked for a better teacher, other than Ms. Candies. She meets every child wherever they are and make sure her approach to each child is customized based on their individual talents, skills and needs.

Hands down one of the best elementary schools in the area! I transferred my daughter to CBA from another school where she wasn't getting the basic attention and support from the teachers. Switching to CBA made a world of difference! Within a few months of attending CBA I could see the difference in my child confidence and growth. I wholeheartedly believe this is the result of having teachers that are fully invested in your child achieving their potential both academically and socially. Communication between parents/teachers is by far the best I have experienced in a school. This is helpful when issues arise because everyone including the principal proactively work with you to get to a quick resolution. Mr.McCallen, Ms. Robinson and Ms Candies have been instrumental in making my child's experience at school fun and exiting. There is not one day when my kid complains about going to school in fact she complains when school is out because she misses PE time with Mr.Mc Callen or special talks with Ms. Robinson and Ms Candies.

My son has been attending Chesterbrook for over five years, and he absolutely loves it! Each year he is supported by dedicated teachers and staff who both challenge him and prepare him for the next grade. The investment the teachers and admin put into their students is incredible - they truly care and want to see every child succeed. We couldn’t be happier with the education and community he has experienced here. All of his teachers have been so impactful, but a special shout out to Ms. Bennison. Her investment in her students’ success, along with her outstanding communication, is unparalleled. She truly has a passion for teaching, and it shows in everything she does!

Our family has been part of Chesterbrook Academy Elementary since our oldest started Kindergarten in 2018, and we could not be happier with the experience. Each of our children has excelled academically and socially thanks to the school’s strong focus on individualized instruction. This approach was especially important for our son, who needed to take math classes two grade levels above his peers - something the teachers supported seamlessly. The grade-level and specialist teachers are all outstanding, and the opportunity for students to learn both Spanish and Mandarin throughout elementary school is truly unique. Our daughter entered middle school at Ravenscroft prepared to start in an advanced Spanish class and was also placed in advanced math and ELA, a testament to the excellent foundation Chesterbrook provided. Beyond academics, our kids genuinely look(ed) forward to going to school each day, have made wonderful friends, and benefit from the real sense of community. We also value the school’s emphasis on a global perspective - the gym walls are covered by flags representing the countries of origin of Chesterbrook families, a daily reminder of the inclusive, international community. The administrators and staff know every child and family, and it is clear how much they truly care. We are so grateful to be part of the Chesterbrook community!

Chesterbrook Academy has exceeded our expectations as a Pre-K program, and we feel fortunate that our daughter is receiving such a well-rounded early education. Now in her second year, she continues to grow academically and socially under the guidance of wonderful teachers. Her first teacher, Ms. Keisha Robinson, and her current teacher, Mrs. Angela Candies, both provided a warm and structured classroom where our daughter has felt safe, supported, and challenged.

The quality of the teaching staff is outstanding. They are not only invested in academics but also in developing each child’s character, confidence, and love of learning. Teachers and administrators genuinely know every student and family — something that makes the school feel like a close-knit community. Our daughter’s favorite class is STEM with Dr. Brooks, but she also enjoys art, music, and exposure to both Spanish and Mandarin. These opportunities, combined with small class sizes, ensure she is engaged and continually developing new skills.

We also appreciate the structure and values the school models, from the uniforms to the emphasis on respect and kindness. The mix of hands-on learning, playtime, and academics has been ideal for our daughter, who comes home every day excited to share what she has learned. We are confident that CBA is giving her not just a strong academic foundation, but also instilling the curiosity and confidence she’ll carry into elementary school and beyond.

This is our fifth year at Chesterbrook Academy in Cary, and we are pleased with school. The small class sizes have made such a difference for our son, allowing him to receive the attention, guidance, and encouragement he needs to grow both academically and personally. Ms. Soto, the principal, is an incredible leader always goes above and beyond to support student and family. She is approachable, compassionate, and deeply invested in creating a positive learning environment. Her leadership sets the tone for the entire school. The teachers are attentive, patient, and truly dedicated. They not only challenge students academically but also nurture their social and emotional growth. We are really grateful for it.

We have been at Chesterbrook for just a few weeks now, but in my opinion with small children (since mine is in Pre-K), it's amazing that we have from day 1 dropped off a happy, excited and calm child. These young kids are often very insecure in new environments and it can be incredibly hard as a parent to feel good about leaving your child. But in Mrs Angela Candies classroom everyone is greeted with smiles, hugs and warmth. It's a safe and loving space to grow and learn in a playful way. One of the things i noticed was that so many kids that already left Mrs Candies for the next grade level, ran back to her with big smiles just to greet their favorite teacher and that really made my heart warm.

I'm so happy for our decision in placing our child here.

I am a mother of a child that never went to any daycare or pre K. I attempted to homeschool her as I thought it was best for her. Unfortunately homeschool didn’t fit her needs and I started my search for private education as ratios in our local public school systems were very strained. Chesterbrook has been nothing short of amazing! I say that as a mother who was so apprehensive to had over my only child to what felt like strangers. I quickly learned that both admin and educators are all here for the same purpose. It was a very difficult start for my daughter lots of tears and reluctance to go to school the first couple weeks but she and I were always met with support. The principle Miss Soto used her love for animals to build a relationship with her and encourage her to feed fish with her, Miss Bolden day after day also helped anyway possible to help her get to class and get settled, Miss Smith is always just a ray of sunshine as my daughter adores her as well. And last but not least and the people who are educating and shaping her academic tenure her wonderful and dedicated teacher Miss Phillips and assistant teacher Miss Choy. Both teachers relentlessly helped me transition my daughter to class helped us through the tears and separation anxiety. Miss Phillips and I collaborated and made a plan on how to help her get into class and stay motivated throughout the week. This school is truly the essence of a team and harbor joy and love for education! I can’t forget to give special recognition to Dr. Brooks for being amazing and sparking a continued curiosity for sciences for my daughter. To Miss Jade her mandarin teacher for extending patience and kindness which makes her excited to learn as a result we are learning mandarin at home too! And Miss Mayorga for building on the foundation of learning Spanish so our daughter can stay connected to part of her roots! All and all I can’t say enough wonderful things about all the staff this is the best choice we made as parents for our daughter!

We couldn’t be happier with Chesterbrook Academy Elementary and Middle School! This year, our child started 2nd grade with his favorite teacher, Mrs. Eisen, and from day one we’ve been impressed by the school’s warm, supportive environment.

The teachers and administration are exceptional — dedicated, caring, and truly invested in every student’s growth and success. The school’s mid-size community feels just right: big enough to provide plenty of opportunities, yet small enough that every child feels known and valued.

We also love the variety of after-school enrichment programs. From tennis and soccer to chess and Mad Science, these activities give students the chance to explore new interests while balancing academics with fun.

Chesterbrook Academy has been a wonderful choice for our family, and we’re deeply grateful for the experience our child is having here!

Our overall experience with Chesterbrook Academy has been nothing short of outstanding. From the moment you step into the school, you feel a sense of warmth, professionalism, and genuine care for the students.

The highlight of our journey so far has been our 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Eisen. She is truly exceptional — nurturing, inspiring, and deeply committed to each child’s success. Under her guidance, learning feels exciting and engaging; she has a special way of making lessons come alive, so students are motivated not just to study, but to love learning.

What stands out most is the balance the school strikes between academic rigor and emotional support. Teachers are respectful and encouraging, creating an atmosphere where children feel safe to express themselves and confident to grow. The school also demonstrates a strong commitment to social-emotional well-being — you can tell the staff care about the “whole child,” not just grades.

Safety is clearly a top priority; the environment feels secure, inclusive, and free of discrimination or harsh discipline. Families are also welcomed as true partners — communication is open and meaningful, and it feels like the school really values the voices of parents in shaping each child’s educational path.

Overall, I would recommend Chesterbrook Academy Cary wholeheartedly. It’s a school where students thrive academically, emotionally, and socially — and with teachers like Mrs. Eisen, the experience is nothing short of magical.

My children have thrived at Chesterbrook. The small setting allowed each of them to get what the needed. Could not be happier with the place. The principal is excellent and takes time with each family to address any concerns. After years with public school it was refreshing to have someone actually consider my point of view and, where needed, make adjustments or changes in response to my feedback.

They don’t give home work after reviewing a study on the pros and cons of homework in an elementary environment. They give a list of monthly activities that can be done as a family.

I have two children completing their first year at Chesterbrook Cary and we could not be happier. The principal and vice principal are personable, approachable and seem to love what they are doing. Classes are small, the learning is hands on and the teachers are constantly assessing the children's strengths and weaknesses to provide the appropriate level of work.

The school went through a change in leadership recently and I could not be happier with the principal and and assistant principal in place now! The teachers are supportive and and do an amazing job of tailoring the material to each child's needs. Couldn't imagine having my child anywhere else for elementary school!

I wanted to post a review since some of the reviews here are from a while ago. Next year will be our 3rd year at Chesterbrook with 1 child in preschool and 1 in elementary. We absolutely LOVE this school, the teachers are very passionate, the focus is definitely on learning while also providing an environment where kids feel loved. In the past couple years, we have a new Asst. Principal and the prior Asst. Principal became the new principal. The leadership, admin staff and teachers all are very receptive to discussions with parents and available to help. We love this school and plan to stay here Preschool - 5th grade!

Posted: September 3, 2013

This is our second year at Chesterbrook, and we couldn't be happier. The staff is excellent and tailors the curriculum to the level of intensity the students are capable of and our son is challenged to do his best. We are so impressed.

Great school. My daughter has been attending since Kindergarten and we have just enrolled her again for 4th grade. Teachers are very good and caring. Class size is small. We are a multiracial family and the school is very, very diverse which was important to us. The school has PE twice a week and they have a paved blacktop and huge soccer field. My child is very active so having a large area for physical activity was important to us. Spanish is mandatory, technology, music and art too. We had a bit of trouble with my daughter adjusting to the demands of 3rd grade. Met with teacher and principle. Staff was very accessible and listened to our concerns. Again great school! We are not fans of Wake County Public schools because of the constant student reassignment, so we are happy to have found Chesterbrook!

Posted: February 2, 2012

Outstanding school with unbelievable teachers that are willing to individualize instruction. Yes, the school is pricy, but it's worth every penny in my book!

Posted: December 14, 2011

Overall an okay school. Facilities are good. The previous principal who left last year was great. Unsure about the new principal. Teaching staff is good. Academics are okay but we are contemplating a move to a public school (Davis Elementary) next year. Not getting enough benefit to justify the amount of money we are spending.

Posted: May 29, 2011

Chesterbrook is struggling in multiple areas and as a result I have decided to send my daughter to public school next year. There is no strong leadership within the school, several of the teachers are sub par and I have yet to see anything "challenging" about their academic programs.
