This is our first year at Bitz. Our two children went to a local Catholic school in their very early elementary education, which ended terribly. After moving and returning three years later, we knew the Catholic school was no place for our children -- bullying and terrible admin. So we chose to live on base solely for the schools. It was the best choice we made. Bitz teachers reach out to you, they expect much from your children, which is what you want from a teacher. The school has lots of resources and is a modern school! They have transitioned from STEM to STEAM, have regular special events for the kids to show their interests and talents. Our oldest has maintained a high GPA and our youngest has grown, doubling her reading capacity. Its wonderful.

I have seen a couple of the reviews on this page and it's sad that they feel this way about this school. We have been to many bases and this school has been the best school I have had the privilege of working with. They have worked with my children with so many things that they were behind in and brought them to grade level. Love the teachers, love this school. I have 3 children who attend and they all love this school. Great job staff, keep it up. :)

Terrible admin, terrible staff, terrible gifted program. Poor teachers seem to consistently slip through the cracks due to the frequent principal changes.

This is a great school, Mrs. Allen the principal is terrific, she reviews every single student's report card before they were sent home to the parents last year and wrote a small happy note on each one, she is always upbeat and positive and her energy is passed on to the other staff members and students. There are many teachers who have been at this school for quite a while which helps lend consistency to an ever-changing school population. The PTA is active and the school always appears clean and neat.

Excellent school with caring, dedicated staff. The new principal is involved and highly visible. The ladies in the office were super. They handle a lot of things at the same well. We had a great year and are looking forward to this next school year.

I lived on base for about 4yrs now and I never had a problem with the school system. I think that Bitz is a great school and have great teachers. Mys on went to JPS last year and it was great too. I went to both school many times and the staff in the office are friendly. I think that people who rated Bitz school before are the one with the attitude and they think that they gonna get better service base on rank but it doen't work that way. Get real people!!!! rank is just that "rank"

This school was very disappointing. I don't know if they are just trying to pass along these military kids or what, but I will have to do alot of work with my child to prepare her to go into 5th grade at a different school. Very little grammar was covered, and my child actually wrote better BEFORE going to this school! Felt like the curriculum was extremely dumbed down. The teacher was nice, but unorganized the entire year. For most issues they direct you to the Vice Principal, but don't bother because she never gets back to you and seems to work in slow motion. The school also seems to have quite a bullying problem. We had a bullying issue and have talked to several other moms who have also had problems. Though we live on base, we are going to send our child to a private school out in town next year rather than send her back to Bitz.

Its ok, nothing great. There are a handful of teachers that I would recommend. The office staff has an attitude and its been like that for years. Its like a chore for them to acknowledge you and do something. Thats my biggest complaint. Just get through it. Brewster is much better.

The teacher's have excellant credentials (most w/years of experience and masters in education). DoDEA seems to choose only the best for their schools. I would recommend taking a tour of Bitz and one out in town. You will SEE the difference in the ethos, teachers and quality. I noticed that the schools in Jacksonville did not seem to have as high expectations of the students. I also had a friend whose child is special needs, out in town they did little with him each day and had him watching movies a lot of the times! I know that on base the Special Ed team works vigorously with the children. Bitz is a great school!

We moved from out in town to base just for the school, my son made all A's in 3rd grade and was in the gifted program at his old school, he went to BITZ and not only did they not place him in the gifted program (when he is on a 9th grade level in math, reading and science) but he made c's and d's on his report card and was tanted and teased all year!!! When I talked to the teacher about him being picked on she called the students out infront of the class and asked them why his mom came in her and said they we calling him these names and listed them while the other kids laughed! I went to the principal and wanted to complain but I was told to leave my information and I would be contacted!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!

We could not be happier with Bitz. This is my child's first year here, and he has thrived. The administration is excellent and very involved with students and parents. The PTA is top notch. The teacher are pricelss and truly treasures.
