Third graders are the only grade I feel homework is unrealistic to students. I understand that teachers want the kids be "EOG, test ready," but they should let them be kids, too. They work hard ALL day long.

My son absolutely loves school! He feels loved and welcomed by not only his teacher, but all teachers in the school. Teachers are always outside greeting ALL students with a welcoming smile. After contemplating private school, I'm so glad I gave Newport elementary a chance.

Our children used to go to Newport. I've heard so many compliments about it but our time there wasn't good. Our daughter suffered anxiety because of it. She was very, very sick and even collapsed from exhaustion from bullying from a teacher. We thought she was over reacting so we met the teacher. We couldn't believe how she treated us, our daughter and also other students from speaking with other parents. We decided it we needed to act fast and our kids are happy (and so are we) living in Havelock. These schools do not get enough credit. Please listen to your kids. Get involved.

Newport Elementary is a welcoming place to visit and learn. Many warm faces to greet you in the front office and continuing on to staff & faculty. We are pleased to have our grandson there.

Newport Elementary has ALWAYS been an amazing school. I went to Newport Elementary school as a child and I excelled there always had A's! Now my daughter attends Newport Elementary (after attending another school for k-1) She has been going for 2 and now 3rd grade. The faculty is awesome and the principle DOES care about the kids and how the parents feel about problems. I've had ONE problem and the Principle took the time to meet with me and the teacher to solve the issue. The school is a GOOD, GREAT, WONDERFUL school.

I saw the old review and didn't want anyone to get the wrong impression of this school. There has been new administration since the 2004 review was posted, and let me assure you, the principal here is wonderful! She even walks around the cafeteria during lunch interacting with the students. I think I've probably walked by her office 3 times this year where she was actually in it. She's actively involved and not hiding away in her office all day. She genuinely cares about the students, their safety, and their growth, and it's wonderful to see!
