They are the absolute worst with communication. This entire year I have not once met or spoke with a teacher of my childs. How are we supposed to help our children thrive as a community of parents and schools when youve never actually met them or been informed about ups and downs your child faces? The absolute worst school experience. They need to do better. Teachers and parents should have way better communication with each other.

My daughter goes to this school and she is a constant victim of bullying. Everyday she goes she is insulted cuz of her looks and everything. She said she spoke to the teachers and principal and they have done nothing!!! This needs to change now!! My child is there to learn, not be ridiculed by other children because they are miserable at home. Something needs to change or I will go to the board of education!!!

Racism at its best! My bonus child has been targeted and yes he is mixed. I have sat in classes and them not knowing who I am treat children differently. If your child is black run.

i just have to say... there is people that are made fun of here if there weird, autistic etc. they are made fun of. and there are fights almost every single day. and the kids don't know how to shut their mouths. so then the teachers have to yell and then they can't do their job. now the food... the food is meh some of it good but just beware your stomach may hurt for awhile afterwards with some foods. now the band teachers are so good their so fun and i feel myself when i'm in that class. they do festivals and you get to go to carowinds at the end of the year and much more. the school is alright it's an good learning environment but please raise your kids good because that's what's ruining the school (btw there is some great kids there just majority are some bad)

this school sucks, there is constant bullying and most teachers do nothing to stop it. There is constantly students disrupting class and nothing is done, making it very hard to learn anything. There are a few wonderful teachers, but not many. I switched to MWMS from another state after i moved, and the school is very behind academically. I would avoid this school at all costs.

There are positive signs encouraging strong character traits in all of the hallways and classrooms. Students are given positive reinforcement on a regular basis. Most teachers make clear their expectations for the students at the beginning of the school year. The children come to understand that there are consequences for inappropriate behaviors, but they know that the discipline is out of love for them and the adults only want to help them grow and become more successful.

Some of the administrators are excellent and others are less than excellent. Some are especially student-oriented and get to know the kids personally rather than just looking at them as test scores.

Teacher methods range from pictures/diagrams, to video clips, music, discussion, hands-on activities, and, to a lesser degree, lectures. Students are evaluated in different ways which allows for a variety of learning differences. Some students may be able to explain a concept with a drawing and labels while others explain by demonstrating or through the written word. My daughter enjoyed having the freedom to be artistic in some of her assignments to show that she understood the lessons taught.

Although I do believe there are bullies in the school and bullying does happen, I think the majority of the "bullying" incidents are not truly bullying based upon the county code of conduct description. The few who cause the real problems should be dealt with immediately and not just sent back to the classroom. Serious counseling should be given to those who make the other students feel threatened. Perhaps the parents of those kids could be given some tools to work with at home to help their child feel more compassionate and less combative when it comes to the other students.

My daughter had a wonderful experience at Mac Williams which carried over to the high school. There is something positive to be said about a school where many of the faculty and administrators actually live in the same community of the students they teach. I am pleased that she was able to attend school here.

Most teachers assign meaningful homework which is reinforcement for what is done in the classroom. The assignments are relevant and examples are given in the classroom for students to write down to help guide them through the review given for homework.

Most teachers at Mac Williams Middle are effective in both discipline and their ability to teach their subjects in a way students can understand the concepts.

Terrible! I am so disappointed that my son has to attend this school. I have been looking into private schools and charter schools just to ensure he will not have to attend again next year. This school has broken my sons spirit. He entered Mac Williams an honor roll student and was a member of beta club. He enjoyed school and was very excited and the very first semester received Ds and Fs because the teachers tend to misplace work that is later found GRADED, they tend to choose their favorites from the start and focus only on them, and also have no desire to help when your childs grades fall. Im VERY disappointed in this school

This school allows students to be bullyied! There is no way that I can possible let my child to this school again. Too much emotional damage has taken place - complete nightmare

What leadership!! This school lacks leadership and fails their students.
Posted: July 1, 2018
NO - the math teacher requires the process to be done her way. There are different learning techniques and students learn differently - as an educator she should know how to teach to all levels!

This district allows too many to develop poor character. There is abundant racism and unchecked gang activity. These two elements do not work well together and lead to more issues when the kids move up into high school.

Hopefully the new principal will improve things because the other principal was TERRIBLE. He had no control over students, teachers, or parents.

This school has been a terrible experience. I have seen it tear down many good kids and force them into dangerous peer groups in order to fit in. The inclusion classes for students with learning disabilities do not have strong teachers, have poor discipline, and lack structure. They push kids that once gave effort into not caring and giving up. They start hanging with gangs and buy drugs at school. This is also an issue that has been ignored often by teachers not wanting to get involved and few years ago, the SRO even made excuses for one of the kids known to be dealing drugs at the school. Teachers leave with the students, won't meet with parents when it is convenient for parents, and wait until a child is completely lost before even reaching out. I will say that I have hope for the years ahead as a new principal took over midway through this year. Maybe he will get it moving in a positive direction and will take control of the problems. I wish him well as he fights against well established, festering problems.

This school is awful. I moved from Maine to Fayetteville in the middle of the school year for 6th grade, and there are too many problems to even begin to explain. First off, they are so academically behind that I was being taught 2 digit multiplication when in Maine I was taking Pre Algebra. The students are mean, unaccepting, and extremely judgemental, so much so, no one would be friends with me and I was bullied. I know a girl who went to the bathroom and another girl jumped on her back and dug her fingernails into her face and scratched her face up so that she had to leave school! I'm also an accelerated student, so when I moved here they placed me in their "gifted" program, but they gave us the same work as the normal class, just had us separated from the average students. In Maine, they grade on a 10 point scale and Mac Williams did an 8 point scale while I was there. I had all A's in Maine, and one was a 91. Well, Mac Williams wouldn't accept my A's, translated my grades through THEIR SCALE, and gave me B's. Totally unfair! The difficulty of work in the two states is so different!
Also, after the EOG testing, the teachers don't make any plans so I watched movies all day for about 2-3 weeks. My mom had me write down all the movies I saw and it ended up being about 26 hours of movies, one being PG-13 and they showed it without permission. When the school year ended, I was so happy I cried about having to go back there again, and my mom decided to homeschool me and my sister. I would not place Mac Williams as a good school on my list.

They hardly ever had homework. I think the teachers likely didn't want to cause themselves extra work grading papers.

This is the absolute worst school my children ever attended. It was dismal. They both hated going to school everyday. Right down from the top, the principal, teachers, and staff seemed to despise both students and parents alike. I once complained to the principal because teachers weren't returning phone calls and email messages, and one of them had the gall to call me on the phone and yell at me! I had a parent once comment to me that they should have a sign at the front door "parents not welcome". My kids continue to have bad memories of this school, as do I.

Frustrated and disappointed. Communication between the school and parents is poor. I have emailed the guidance department and did not received a response for almost a week (and a few times I never received a response). Teachers fail to respond in a timely manner to emails. Teacher concerns are not taken seriously by administration. Discipline problems abound and are inconsistently handled. This school is poorly managed.

My daughter attended this school for half of 6th grade and all of 7th grade. The teachers were not attentive to my requests for enforced discipline in the classroom. Too many children attending this school lack discipline, lack attentive parental involvement and the academically driven students suffer for it. Sports are emphasized, academics are a sideline and most children have outrageous behavior that overwhelms the teachers and administration. Children who are there to learn are unable to do so because of the constant distraction from undisciplined children. It is a shame because I feel this school has decent administration and teachers. I suggest Seventy-First or a school of choice offered by the county.
