Most students like the principle and she is a warm and understanding person. I think most students attending this school appear to be quite happy to be there, and that reflects well on Principle Miss Hawkins and Miss Lilly the Receptionist/Administrative Assistant in the General Office.

I feel they have a pretty good "exceptional children" program where they address the needs of the students who have learning disabilities. IF a child is capable they will be able to part of the class room with students with no learning disabilities. I was surprised how many students in the school that are handicapped or have learning disabilities and they do have more than one person who works with these students.

They give homework to Kindergarteners... which I think is a bit much, since they are there all day, not half day. Kids have homework every day in most subjects and in Math every day, but they do give them the weekend off unless there is a project due. I do feel my kids spend way too much time doing homework though and not enough time being kids and getting outside to exercise! I wish they would take that into consideration when assigning homework. Maybe they don't need to do ALL the problems, just a few select ones to make sure they understand the concept.

I have received phone calls during the day to inform me of an incident or a concern when they occur, so I do think the teachers are definitely caring of their students. Most of the teachers are cheerful and they remember their past students when they see them out about town!

Every morning during announcements students who performed a kind act or helpfulness toward anyone the day prior are announced along with their act for all the student body to strive to be the best they can be... Students are role models for other students! There is also a 0 Tolerance for Bullying and students are taught every year what bullying is, and how to avoid it, stop it or report it. They have plays through out the year as well. All students say the Pledge of Allegience to the Flag in the morning and I am very pleased that they have continued this tradition.

Most of the teachers I have met are kind and caring. They even say hello to you in the hallway even if they do not have your child as a student. The teachers here seem to really enjoy their careers and their students. I have not seen a grumpy face or stern voice yet.

I'd rate my experience at this school very excellent! I could not ask for a more caring school, school office staff, and teachers. Everyone knows everyone, the principle, teachers, and other staff members all work together to make these students very successful in their education. The students are given extra opportunities as exceeding their education, book clubs, junior beta, small jobs at helping! These students come out on top because they have good educators in this school!

Even though the kids spend their time learning education all day. The teachers still send home 1 or more sheets in each subject for the child as homework. Which is basically a review of what they learned that day. If a student doesn't understand while doing the work at home the teacher takes the student one on one to go over it until the student understands.

The teachers actually take the time for each individual student and each need of the student. These teachers care about education and what they are teaching. They help there students succeed at education to the highest level possible.

All the students have many great teachers that show great leadership role models. As each student starting in Kindergarten have an opportunity to begin leadership as line leaders, hall monitors, book monitors, bathroom monitors. Leading a good role to good behavior from the students.

This school leaves no student behind. If a child struggles thru out the year,other teachers pull the student aside and review what the child is struggling with. They help until the child understands. The help with students never stops. The teachers go over and beyond what their requirements are, to make sure each student is successful at education.

There is a no bullying policy. They teach the children from their very first day at Buckland No Bullying! The students sign a form that they will not participate in being a bully, if they see it the are to be responsible and help a student out by letting an adult know what's going on. The students participate on programs and have assemblies thru out the year about bullying. Its well educated at Buckland.

I m a totally obsessed parent when it comes to education. I moved to this area because of the academic possibilities. Before relocating, I had to be on top of it all to ensure my kids academic success. My son has been here 4 yrs. & I ve NOT had to do ANY enhancing with his education in the last 2. I first met this principal in Central Middle, there she helped guide my older son into success. Her devotion to our children (the communities) is relentless. She's been very supportive with our concerns. She's the sole reason I decided not to homeschool. Staying under her guidance has given my sons the benefit of a loving school family that encompasses, a principal that puts her students first & super caring teachers, instructors, & a multitude of other supportive workers. One of the best decisions I ve made. This is one of the best schools in the US, I could be anywhere in the world, but I choose to be here. I ve 2 boys that are headed to college & this school has set the foundation in which my son will stand proudly & confidently as he moves toward his future in higher learning. THANK YOU BUCKLAND ~ Ms. Goldsby, Mrs. Branch & Ms. Hawk to name a few because there are so many more!

My children attend Buckland School and I am very pleased for what they accomplished this past school year. I am excited for another challenging school year. My children have made leaps and bounds since their arrival at Buckland Elementary School. I am thrilled about the principal, Ms. Goldsby. She seeks the best for all children and maintains a positive warm environment for parents to feel at ease. Keep up the good work. GO PANDAS!

I have two children who attend/have attended Buckland. I would highly recommend Buckland to anyone who is new to the area. Ms. Goldsby is an excellent leader and always has my child's success as her top priority. There is a family atmosphere here that isn't felt in other schools in the area. Communication is always a priority, whether it is by note, phone, e-mail, etc. My child will be graduating out of Buckland in 2015 and it will be bitter-sweet, but I know the teachers and staff have equipped her with the tools she needs to be successful in life. Thank-you Ms. Goldsby and all the teachers who have helped with my child(ren)'s future.

My daughter attends Buckland. This is the worst school I have ever had to deal with. The teachers have allowed my daughter to be bullied by another student, and when my daughter tries to defend her self she is the one getting in trouble. Now mind you she is in Kindergarden. This should not be happening in Kindergarden. I am very disappointed with this school. Communication with the teacher is only when she feels it is necessary to tell me what is going on with my child which might be days later. I find out days later that my child left the building and they had to go find her wondering the school property. I am the mother I should have been called right away. But if my daughter tells someone to leave her alone then she gets in trouble and then they want to call me to talk to her about her behavior. I am getting a little tired of this school thinking that i am just going to continue to allow them to bully my child. If anyone knows how to report a school in NC please let me know. Thanks

Former Principle Gregory was excellent and cared about his school, however ever since he has retired the school has went downhill. The principle is so unsatisfactory the staff members who have been there for over a decade are leaving. I moved to Gatesville school district just so that my daughter wouldn't have to attend Buckland and I have lived in Gates County for twenty years and have attended the schools myself.
