I was genuinely unsafe at this school. Admin/office staff were incredibly rude and unhelpful as a new student. While I had my fair share of good teachers, library staff & coaches were quite bold to insult a 14-yo new student and ignore bullying.

I was being threatened with group physical and cyber violence; no action was considered for my safety. Classes were rambunctious and teachers were often “left to the wolves” and without any help from admin. Much of the school was not clean or kept up. Teachers were not given resource or guidance for students that could not speak English, but rather deferred them to other peers.

Fights were often between students.

I could not keep attending nor let my rising freshman little brother attend.

Only positive experience I remember is the athletics; coach on the swim team was an awesome lady & I received a lot of encouragement and support as a shoo-in. Weightlifting was also big there, and also nice people.

This institution is undoubtedly the most inadequate school I have ever encountered. My granddaughters are enrolled here, and I have a strong aversion to it. The school creates an environment akin to a subliminal prison for the children. They require students to place their cell phones in a secure bag, effectively cutting off any means of communication with the outside world and their parents. I genuinely believe this school is orchestrating some form of psychological operation, which will eventually be publicized, aiming to prevent the children from documenting anything that could reveal their deceit. The students will be subjected to lockdowns as part of this psychological strategy. My granddaughter faces challenges in both math and English; my daughter has repeatedly expressed her concerns regarding the need for additional support, yet the school has failed to provide any assistance. They show no concern for students struggling academically and are dishonest when they assert that help will be available. I suspect that the teachers are deliberately placed in this institution as part of a psychological operation, ready to play their roles when the school is used to broadcast a psychological event. Google even restricts reviews for this school, as they seem to be colluding to maintain its prison-like atmosphere rather than fostering a conducive learning environment. The level of control exerted over the school is such that it could be classified as a high-security prison for students. Parents should not acquiesce to many of the policies these schools implement for their children. This is precisely why this school is able to evade accountability for its misconduct. If I could give this school a ZERO I for sure would without hesitation.

Both my son & daughter were in advanced classes and were assigned aggressive amounts of homework. On many occasions it required extended hours devoted to researching and completing assignments. My wife and I believe this is a good thing: it helped them both prepare for life in general when we are all given "more than we thought we could handle" yet somehow we get through it.

My wife and I attended the open houses offered at the school. When possible we both went; however, most times our schedules only allowed one of us to go. We found the teachers engaging and enthusiastic and when our children struggled with keeping focused - as will happen with teenagers from time to time - they worked with us to ensure our children properly re-engaged and continued on to successfully complete their courses.

Both my son & daughter availed themselves of groups and programs that engaged them with other students and with the world outside Harnett county. They were both members of the local Beta Club, National Technical Honor Society, and both served as officers in service clubs: these experiences coupled with in-classroom experiences helped foster strong character in both of them.

The administration and faculty face a daunting task with boys and girls entering their first year of high school and then maturing to young adults by the time they graduate. These four years are very dynamic for our children and our experience has been the entire leadership team does an upstanding job helping our children become responsible young adults.

I am pleased with the school's administration and faculty and felt my children received a solid high school education at Harnett Central High School. I would recommend this school to my friends.

Bullying is often pushed aside and is not taken seriously. There are options to report bullying online or to report it to a teacher, but this is frowned upon by students as well as some teachers, and is viewed as "lame", "overreacting", or simply "snitching". The school does not enforce enough that they truly care about the safety and comfort of the students.

I am currently a junior at HCHS and I am disappointed in this school. While it goes without saying that we are in the countryside and that we are already in an area of low expectations, the experiences at the school on a day to day basis are shocking. The students as a whole do not care about their education and the majority of teachers do not try to make them care for it, they simply do their job and that is the end of it. There is not enough connection with the students, and the small connection that is made is typically reserved for the "popular" kids, usually from higher income households. Students from lower income households are often brushed aside and are not given every opportunity to excel. Once, in a regular science class, my teacher told us that since we were in regular classes, we were seen as "not having potential". This is extremely discouraging and rather than encourage students to work harder, it sends them the message that their education and their future does not matter. The student behavior is incredibly ridiculous, as there is no respect for their peers or for their teachers, but in order for this to be improved teachers must put for the effort as well. Only then will our school be able to move forward in a positive direction.

There are certainly outstanding teachers at this school, however the majority of the teachers are lacking in their teaching expertise and fail to truly help the students excel. Many are not properly prepared for life beyond their high school years.

Students treat their peers as well as their own teachers with incredible disrespect and do not display the integrity to better themselves. They lack compassion , which reflects why they are so disrespectful of other people.

Leadership is limited to few students, and the majority of students show a lack of care for leadership. There are not enough leadership opportunities, and of the few that are provided are not taken seriously by students.

The school does offer a decent amount of teachers who are trained to help those with learning differences, however they are not doing enough to benefit them. They do not try to learn enough ways to combat the differences in learning, or to try to make each and every student understand.

I am a freshmen at HCHS and i went to the middle school and I love it here, the opportunitys may not be as high as other schools but what would you expect from a high school that is a bit on the rual side? Anyways I really like it here I am currently taking JROTC which I really like and also I'm taking Founadtions of Math 1 and its alot easier then I thought I'm also in Key Club and the key club here is outstanding I really like it. Our school is ver diverse you'll see "Latino" kids hanging out with other ethnic races and I as a latino student with a mexican backgroung and okay to be discribed as so but its very diverse sure it might have its perks but I really like it here.
