Great high-school. My kids never had any problems here.

Lower was my 3rd high school between 2004 and 2008. My first school was a private prep school in Connecticut and I watched a tenured teacher throw a temper tantrum to rival a 2 year old. My second school was at risk of losing its accreditation. Lower was a breath of fresh air after that. My teachers cared and prepared us for real life. Some of the teachers definitely do not belong there as their skills are far beyond normal high school teachers. My chemistry and physics teacher worked at nasa for fun. My theater teacher was phenomenal. My piano teacher was great, business Law teacher had actually run his own business so he knew what he was teaching. My Spanish teacher taught me so well that when I went to college, I tested out of my language requirements. All in all its a great school but as a student you get out of a school what you put in.

I don't think it's a stretch to say that LCMR is below average. I'm not so sure it's necessarily the school's fault, the teachers and faculty do try hard with what they have for the most part, but this area doesn't have the largest budget. Some pros are that they have an excellent music program for the area, and as previously stated they have a tv studio and new labs. Compared to other schools in NJ, there aren't quite as many AP programs available, I can tell you that really all the other classes are basically a joke. I have friends in college who audibly gasped when I told them how many people I knew who failed the HSPA. There's also a lot of politics with the teachers, basically if you're related to someone in the school or administration you'll get a job there whether or not you're even a decent teacher. Some teachers are also just really bad and clearly have no desire to be in their positions. I had an algebra teacher (no names) who literally got so frustrated with the class he decided not to teach for a week and only assigned problems while he played computer games. Ironically, the class did better. All in all, it's a bad school, but it does try really hard for what it has.

Our daughter has had a great 4 years at this school. She is involved in clubs, sports, and other activities. The counselors are actively involved in the development of the students and the staff does their best with what they have. Many students go on to great schools. She will be attending the University of Kansas this coming fall.

The school isn't bad for a public school. As a parent though it would be nice to have the school keep the parents more updated. I never know when extracurricular activities happen. Grades are very rarely updated & the schools website is almost never updated. I have to count on my daughters word which with her being 15 isn't much. When I enrolled her into school the counselor acted as if I want her parent & didn't include me in any of the decisions as far as signing up for classes & such & pretended that I didn't exist. I would just like to know more & be given the opportunity to be involved with my child's education..

LCMR is honestly not as bad as some people make it out to be. Sure, it is not the best school in the state or nation. But it's certainly not the worst. As a sophomore attending Lower, I can say there are an abundance of oppurtunities offered here and challenging educational programs. The AP and Honors programs are rigorous, and those who say this school does not teach you anything are those in the CB classes not smart enough to realize we do, in fact, have advanced placement programs. Our sports teams are the worst, but the athletes here have fun whether or not they win or lose. And the classes and extracurriculars available to our students is plentiful. We have our own TV Studio, excellent science labs, a marine biology room, a greenhouse, woodshop, culinary classes, and a great theatre and art program. The teachers here are very friendly and help very much. They work with you one-on-one if you just ask. Those who attend LCMR and say it is the worst school ever obviously are not making the best out of their high school career. They are the kids who go to school and go home, and are not involved. As with any school, you need to get involved. If you do, you'll realize LCMR is great

i love this school im a freshman and so far i really like this school. i do football cheerleading right now and the football team is wayy better than last year. the teachers are good i only dislike one.
