Every single time I step onto these premises I am either harassed, my friends harassed, or treated like an insignificant glut by my peers or staff. I have never felt truly safe one day in this building especially as many of my friends and associates, hell, some people I have never even talked to consistently have been bullied or sexually harassed by a classmate in this school. The education is not the best, I am a junior learning freshmen material even though I'm supposed to be in a more advanced class. It is all stuff we did before too! This does not go for all classes but certain fields need to be improved. One of my teachers didn't even grade some of my assignments last year and I had to pay the price of that. This school has also removed and ( what feels like ) taunted the accommodations of students, especially ones who are autistic or have sensory issues. They refuse to let us sit in the library during pep rallies, forced us to replace headphones with earplugs ( which has not helped and even made my issues worse, this is proven so ), and changed the fire drill rule. Some students were allowed to go to the guidance office during the fire drills to avoid the loud bell but they removed that! You have to be "diagnosed" now to even have a slither of these accommodations. When I tried to get my accommodations they tried to talk me out of some of the stuff I wanted ( which was being able to work in the hallway for 5 minutes when I'm severely overwhelmed. ) The nurse is rude to students and refuses to do anything half the time, and the discipline is absolutely horrid. Remember what I said about my friends and I being harassed, turns out they reported this happening to them before and the school has done nothing about it, not even looking a small peak into it. The guidance office values grades over mental health in many cases and have even lied to me and my parent last and this year.
And I cannot reiterate enough how poor the education is here. I do not think it is normal for there to be classes where over 70-80% of the students are failing. Even the teachers complain about it! And why am I learning middle school material? I try to be positive about the school and to look at the pros but the cons outweigh them for me. Coming here drains me so much and its not even just the social aspects, I am learning nothing in some classes just like last year. Everyday someone has something to complain about related to this place. I wish I could see it improve but it won't.

Great school. Very positive environment. Pushes students to do their best and get in involved in a large variety of activities within the district. Excellent academic program with challenging teachers for all level of students.

This is a very quality school where you will meet a range of people from different ethnic backgrounds and, more importantly, economic backgrounds. As a high-achieving student, the inability to take lots of APs (only 8 offered) was annoying, but the APs you do take will get you a 5 if you try.

Excellent teachers, excellent curriculum. The community really rallies around the school. We were at another district and so glad we made the move.

Good teachers. You get what you put into this school. My kids did great and went on to good colleges. I don't know why all,the bad scores.

I feel administration caters only to those parents who have "power" and "influence" meaning who knows someone in higher circles. The administration is also UNFAIR. They have different law for different people. My younger son was in a fight which he did not even start, and even though a teacher vouched for him, he got suspended for 5 days only because he defended himself - "zero tolerance" - in other words UNFAIR policy. It seems that according to administration he was supposed to just get beat up. The only fair guy I ever dealt with there is Mr. Clarke.
Also, the guidance does not help as promised. They offer tutoring but the teachers are done 3pm. If you kid has no transportation, oh well, I guess you can't go to be tutored. We both work till 5pm, so no one could really help our daughter get any of tutoring at all.
I am also discouraged by implementation of IEPs and/or 504 plans. The school does not honor No Child Left Behind Act. The administration is very cold and unfriendly. They will not reason with you. It is done deal once they make up their decision. I am very bitter. The teachers my kids had and have were always great with the exception of a few, but that seemed to be a personality issue more than a professional issue...overall, I loved Olivet School and PTMS. Sad to say WE HATE SCHALICK.

There are a few exceptions, but this is common. There are bad teachers as much as there are good teachers. I believe most of my kids' teachers were great.

Homework is adequate. We never complained. It is what it is. We understand it is necessary as a part of learning and studying.

The district has faced economical challenges as so many others and some administrative decision don't seem to prioritize properly with regard to certain things. However, I have found most all teachers are wonderful and have always tried to go above and beyond. I have never had a problem with any Principals or Assistant Principals. Middle school is light on after school activities (township offers soccer, baseball, field hockey, football) but High School offers so many with wonderful teacher coaches who go above and beyond. My children have enjoyed the music programs throughout the years as well. Our oldest who is graduating this year has also played soccer, baseball and tennis in addition to being a member of concert band. Both are honor students and as a parent I also support and help them get the most of what is available. What ever negative issue we've come across has been far out weighed by the positive.

This is a fantastic school. Faculty is professional the curriculum is accommodating to all Learners. The academy portion of this school is helping talented children in all the arts discover, enrich, and advance their talents in a nurturing way. It is safe, it is in a great location and it is a very small high school when compared to the other ones around. It offers an excellent sports program as well. I am very happy my son is attending the Arts Academy at Schalick. It is also a school choice school! Go Gougars!

This school has been completely run down by the administration. They have hired unqualified people for positions that have great impact on the students. They back up the poor decisions as just because. You are not entitled to a reason why. Board backs it as well. The district will continue to decline with its present leadership. I helped run a fund raiser and as a volunteer I had to pay full price for my ticket to work the event. I watched the superintendent walk In fill his plate take up space feed his face and not offer one dime when everyone else had to pay and work. That is an example of direction of the district. Entitlement, you work for it not me.

It's been so sad to see what has happened to this district. Ten years ago it was a great school but has been run into the ground by administrators, layers and layers of unneeded principals and assistant principals while the teachers have all the pressure and no support. Superintendant is horrible and no one has the guts to speak out because retribution is so great. We are now a needs improvement school district with a large drug problem. The admin treat parents terribly and will not build relationships, insist on a total dictatorship.
