While the school presents a strong public image, there appears to be a notable disparity in how its policies are applied, which can negatively impact the wider student body.
One major area of concern is the inconsistent application of disciplinary and support protocols. It seems the school is particularly reactive to threats of legal action or formal complaints, often providing undue leniency to certain students. The use of 504 plans and other support accommodations appears to be a source of frustration, as they are sometimes perceived as a means for students to avoid accountability for behavioral issues, rather than a tool for providing genuine support.
Furthermore, there is a clear lack of consistent and firm consequences for serious infractions. Incidents such as significant acts of vandalism and substance use on campus have reportedly been met with minimal punishment, such as short suspensions that do not become part of a students permanent record. This approach creates a system where accountability is not a priority, and it can send a message that the school values its reputation over the safety and well-being of all its students.
In addition, there appears to be a "first to report" culture that undermines fair conflict resolution. The administration seems to give an unfair advantage to the first person who reports a problem, even when that individual is clearly in the wrong. This dynamic allows for the manipulation of the system and has been observed in serious situations, including cases involving racist behavior, where the instigator can frame the narrative to their advantage simply by being the first to speak to the administration. This practice erodes trust in the school's ability to handle conflicts justly and protects those who are most in the wrong.
