My time at this high school was marked by relentless bullying, and the administration failed to uphold my 504 plan. Favoritism overshadowed fairness in sports, with certain 'golden players' receiving undeserved priority. A troubling power dynamic existed between faculty and students, making it difficult to seek support. When I reached out for mental health assistance, I was dismissed and blamed instead of being heard. I had to fight just to feel marginally safe, yet even that was fleeting. The school’s disciplinary approach was deeply flawed, punishing victims rather than addressing the actions of their bullies—especially in cases where race played a role.

MASH is a terrific school! I have kids at both ends of the spectrum-one in all accelerated classes and one with special needs. I have been amazed at their ability to meet the needs of both. The teachers and staff are excellent and very accessible. Many of them attended MASH themselves and moved back after college to provide their children the same strong foundation. When we moved here, we had the choice of sending our kids to a really small school, really large one, or Mechanicsburg which has about 300 kids per grade. This has been a great fit for us as the school is big enough to offer plenty of sports and extra-curricular activities, but small enough that your kids can still make the teams and fit in. I highly recommend this school!

The school under-prepares the majority of students for the "real world." While I have been accepted my college of choice, the majority of my friends were not accepted to a college of near-caliber with significantly better grades. This is no fault of the teachers who are often understanding and willing to help the students; rather the school aims to teach kids to underachieve. Students rarely hope to even attend an out of state post secondary educational institution, relying on the state schools when they could be achieving much more. Nearby schools have implemented the IB program, aiding their students in the college process but there has been no talk of this at MASH. The students and staff are very bright, but it is not the ideal school to send your children to if your aims involve prestigious universities.

My child attended this school for 4 years. My son scored 720 Verbal SAT and 680 Math, was always in the top 10% for math/reading/science. Unfortunately Honors teachers lose papers, submit grades after losing papers, respond to emails with 'I haven't graded it yet'. If your child is bright, and wants good grades DO NOT GO HERE...Mulitple episodes of lost paperwork ranging from the Project dreams, to submitted work where my son had copies that it was submitted via email. The school tells you to use the website to check each individual class for your childs work, and it is NOT updated, so you will email a teacher who will tell you they haven't submitted or graded it until its too late. THIS has happened multiple times different teachers and different grades.

I definitely learned a lot over my four years at MASH. Not only were there countless opportunities to get involved in sports or extra-curricular activities, but the dynamics of a good public school undoubtedly shaped the person I am today. The teachers are kind, helpful, and fully devoted to teaching. If you need ANYTHING, there is always a teacher or staff member that is more than willing to help you. Whether you're excelling or falling behind, there is some kind of program for you. AP classes have helped me get ahead in college so much that I have the potential to graduate in three years. I learned invaluable study tips and life lessons that I still practice today. Aside from high school pettiness, there really isn't anything wrong with this school. And yes, the dreaded Project Dreams is arduous and seems to be pointless, but after it's all said and done, you realize that you're happy that your school made you do job shadows. It certainly helped me figure out what I want - and more importantly didn't want - to do with my life.
