Not the High School, the middle school. We have had a terrible experience. The leadership of support staff does not want to help. The principle Mrs. Reed rules with an iron fist and has her staff scared for their jobs in a school that doesnt pay as well as the other schools. They fight parents (we have direct contact with several families with similar situations) they dont want to help the student just check the boxes and move on. Its so frustrating. If you are looking to a school with a struggling student look somewhere else. Support at this school is sub par. You always have a few that are dedicated but they are destroyed by principle Reed.

The school failed to prepare me for life outside of school. The classes geared more towards basic adult skills were treated as if we already knew it, leaving us with a superficial understanding of what to do when we graduate. There isnt enough care put into lessons taught in most classes, just packets and tests.

I am the parent of a graduated and current high school student who has attended South Middleton School District since kindergarten. Positive things. It is a small school and community. I know most of the families/friends of my children. Negative things. There are some teachers that are excellent, but most are mediocre. My child is an average student who in many ways seems to have fallen through the cracks. Unless you have a bright student or one with special needs, there is not much attention given to the average. This carries over to the guidance counselor office as well. It is very disappointing, especially from such a small school.

As a former student of Boiling Springs high, I can say that this school went far beyond my expectations. I went into high school thinking it was going to be uncomfortable and confused. The students and teachers will do everything they can to make new students of any race, feel at home. In my junior year, I was even given the opportunity to work with students who came in with disabilities, or challenges in their life. I was sad to hear that I wouldn't be graduating a Bubbler, but I'll never forget what that school offered me.

As a former student, the only strength this school district has is an affluent community that provides students up-to-date technology and reading material. With the exception of the English department, the majority of the teachers are sub-par at best and most of the new staff are incompetent in regards to teaching methods and understanding individual learning differences among students. I attend a 4 year University and the only post-graduate preparation I have used was taught to me by my English teachers. The counselors are overloaded with students and students who are in dire need of social services do not get the care or attention they need to flourish in an academic setting. The counselors provide referrals to social services because there is no licensed social worker for the entire school district. Students are either labeled as college bound or are expected to pester their counselor into giving them information on colleges. If you have been there since kindergarten chances are you will be haunted by students who are forgotten, and social stratification that is early established. Half my graduating class is pregnant and/or raising kids in this town hoping to send them there. Ew
