St. Joseph School in Mechanicsburg has been a heartwarming, encouraging and fulfilling experience. Currently I have a second grader and fifth grader who have both been there since preschool. We are so fortunate to have the school available in our area, because it has been such an excellent structure for the beginning years of education. Both of my children absolutely love it and wake up smiling every year on the first day, excited to be back. The school has gone to extra efforts to make sure that they updated security systems all around the buildings, with cameras facing every direction. The front doors (and all doors) are always locked, and you cannot get in without checking with the office through their video camera. The staff is great, and full of support whenever you need them. In todays world, it is a true blessing for a parent to send their child or children to school, knowing they are getting a great education and they are safe. we are very grateful.

Three of my children have attended St. Joseph School. We transferred from a neighboring Catholic school and it is a night and day difference. So much more organized and well run. I dont think another learning institution could have handled the pandemic any better as well.

My daughter was bullied from grade 1 to 6. I reported many times and nothing was done until it was so bad that it affects her mentally and had to put her with counselor. I took my daughter out of the school. I should had done it earlier. My daughter is still have mental health problem up until now. Teachers are like robot. They are have no feeling, no concern about any student in their class. What they do is to try finish their duty everyday and load the kids with tons of homework. Anyway, stay away from this school.

Our family loves Saint Joseph School. And I say that with much sincerity after having been an involved parent at the school for 14 years now. We have had three kids of varying academic ability graduate from SJS and have been very impressed with how easily they were able to transition to high school. The community is smaller than the surrounding public school and but that is one of the things I love about it. Obviously not every school is for everyone, but we have been and continue to be extremely pleased with our kids' overall experience.

As always, be leery of five star ratings as no school is perfect. Also be leery of a one star rating as there are very few schools that are that horrendous. The truth is that this is solid three star mediocre school. It has good points and bad points. There are some great teachers at this school but there have also been some abysmal ones, teachers that were just not qualified or experienced enough to teach and the children suffered. The administration in the past has also held on to some teachers that have lost their enthusiasm and were just going through the motions, not employing new technology or teaching plans that reflect the most up to date research on variable learning styles and learning disabilities. The school also has a reputation for not adequately preparing middle school students for high school in the areas of math and science. Many parents have pulled their children out after fifth grade and enrolled them in public school. Also, be aware, even though this is a "Christian" school, bullying does occur. Children are bullied and more often than not, the bullies are never punished or held accountable. This is the fault of the administration.

We are very happy with St. Joe's. It was apparent right away that the faculty and administration want to work with you to provide the best, most well rounded education for your child. As parents, there is a sense that our opinions matter and are respected. It is obvious that the teachers and administration are working together as a team and really go above and beyond to make the school extraordinary. Academically, statistics show excellent results. Ultimately, we chose this school because we are confident that our children are being nurtured on both an academic and spiritual level.

St. Joseph School in Mechanicsburg is a wonderful learning institution with a staff that has the best interests of the students in mind. Not only do the students receive an excellent education, but they receive it in an atmosphere that promotes Christian values such as kindness and respect. I currently have two children at St. Joseph's school, and I am very pleased with the results. I would encourage anyone to send their children to St. Joseph's.

I have had one child go through St. Joe's and another child currently attending. The students are greeted with a smile in the morning, and go through the day with day with teachers and staff who certainly have the best interests of the students in both their minds and hearts. The administration is wonderful and always open to listening to comments or suggestions and helping out where they can. This is a great place to send your kids for many reasons!

My Son attended 1st grade at St. Joes in Mechanicsburg. It was the worst experience I have ever had with a school. The administration (i.e. vice principle) treated my Son so horribly that he is now attending counseling weekly for low self esteem. The administration is awful!! I warn anyone who loves their child to look elsewhere. This school is terrible!

I was a student at this school from 1975-1978. It was a challenging experience based on past schools but it was a great education because the academic standards were quite high. I saw a comment here from a teacher that has claimed to be a science teacher there for the past 4 decades. I wonder if that was Ms. Ulery that I had 1977-1978. We really appreciated her because she was relatively young and could relate to us kids more. I remember she talked about her love of Fleetwood Mac and other hip things. She was great and you could tell that she really loved her job.

I came to this school in third grade. It was different for me, because I was used to an environment that was very open an friendly, but I was not shown any sign of welcome. Cliques were already formed, and I had to change who I was as a person to make a few friends. The math program in middle school has a bad reputation. However, the school hired a new math teacher that is wonderful. If you want to send your child to this school, make sure she goes at an early age so she/he won't be caught up in the mess of trying to fit in as the new kid.

We have three children at St. Joseph School. My children love school! The academics are excellent and the teachers challenge my children every day. The school leadership is strong and is committed to maintaining an environment for your child to be successful. The children learn french starting in preschool. All the classes have smart boards. There are after school enrichment clubs and sports starting in first grade. Overall, if you are looking for a school that will encourage, nurture, and challenge your child academically St. Joseph School is the place.
