We were pleasantly surprised with the quality character-building emphasis the school places on its students and infuses in its daily curriculum. The guidance counselor does a great job reinforcing character building, and the teachers consistently provide positive reinforcement and rewards to students for demonstrating good citizenship.

Mr. Carmichael is the principal, and his superior leadership and dedication to the school make it a safe and special learning environment. He understands the challenges and opportunities that come with leading a school that has a high annual student turnover due to the large number of military families that arrive and then move at the end of each school year. He is an outstanding principal who leads with compassion.

Posted: May 12, 2020

Teachers adjusted teaching styles and programs for the different levels of learning in their classrooms. Even in the COVID environment, they provided harder lessons and plans for those children that needed it. This was welcomed in a public school.

Posted: May 12, 2020

Teachers and the principal remain engaged to ensure students learn in a safe learning environment.

Posted: May 12, 2020

Our family loved thier experience at this school. It is extremely well resourced (individual Ipads for student use from home for COVID) and the entire staff from the principal to the teachers demonstrated care and love for their students. While I am unsure why the test scores and ratings are low, it may be due to the consistent turnover of students every year due to the military familes that are only stationed in the area for a single year. Do not judge this book by its cover, LeTort is a fantastic elementary school.

Posted: May 12, 2020

Teachers provided homework that reinforced the curriculum and was not overwhelming for students.

Posted: May 12, 2020

Teachers care about the development of their students and tailor their teaching accordingly. Our children loved their teacher and looked forward to going to school because they were measurably learning.

Posted: May 8, 2020

Students are encouraged to participate, solve problems, and get along with others effectively.

Posted: May 8, 2020

The Principal and Staff are exceptional. All are well-engaged and dedicated to a great academic and emotional support experience for both the students and the parents.

Posted: May 8, 2020

Teachers and Staff offer a variety of accommodations for students of differing learning abilities.

Posted: May 8, 2020

Teachers encourage a do-it-yourself-first approach, which teaches self-reliance, but is not always the most effective for elementary grade level students.

Posted: May 8, 2020

This school is fantastic. We had a great school year and even with the COVID-19 situation, the school, the county, and the school board effectively continued educational activities. Well done!

Posted: May 8, 2020

Planned homework assignments are great. Allows the students to plan and prepare for their assignments.

Posted: May 8, 2020

The teachers are terrific! All of the teachers we had contact with were true professionals, personable, and dedicated to their students.

Posted: May 8, 2020

Absolutely! I could not agree more. They have guidance class at Letort. The children are met with cheery attitudes and compassion from the staff and they are taught the same values.

Posted: May 8, 2020

Mr. Carmichael was born to be an elementary school principal. He gives his all to his school. The teachers are happy under his guidance and the staff works very well together. Keeping the student body behaving well is brought on by positive reinforcement much more often than punishment.

Posted: May 8, 2020

My son was behind when he started at letort. His previous school did not help him. Within a few months after intervention at Letort he is caught up and enjoys learning again.

Great Schools does rate the heart of a school. Letort is a wonderful place for children to spend the day. Every member of the staff is devoted to the whole child, not just their test stats on paper. If a nurturing, comfortable, safe and homey environment is as important to you as tests scores this will be the school you’ve hoped for!

We had a fantastic experience at LeTort. The administration supports a positive approach to keep the entire school on track behaviorally and academically. The small size of the school allows the staff to get to really know all the students and their families. When the school operates like a family, everyone is more invested in the success of each other. Great things happening at this school!!!

The rating for LeTort Elementary is not even close to reflecting how wonderful this school is. We are a military family and now in our second year here. Our kids have been in public and private schools all over the country. LeTort is the best. We care deeply about quality education and character development for our children; the teachers and administrators at LeTort have exceeded all of our expectations. They offer plenty of enrichment opportunities for all ages. Mostly, they just really care deeply for each individual student, and it shows.

We're a military family and our experience at LeTort has been fantastic - and confirms the advice we received from previous War College attendees. Starting the year, our 3rd grade son was behind in reading and spelling. His teacher and the staff supported him throughout the year. He is now an avid reader and his spelling is on grade level. They've also pushed him in subjects where he normally does well. The school does an amazing job of providing resources and assistance to parents so that parents can do their part as well. There are evening enrichment/fun/social activities on an almost monthly basis. It's been a great year for our son, and we look forward to him attending LeTort next year.

Principal Carmichael and Counselor Gerras know all the students and are often seen talking with kids whether good or bad, saying hello by name, and really caring about each and every student.

Posted: April 25, 2019

My child had some learning difficulties with reading this year and it was a team effort to get her back on track. It was not just the Reading Teacher and Specialist that were included in any meeting we had to discuss her progress, but the Counselor as well. The Counselor was always included in any meeting we had regarding my child and I loved that the school administration cared about my child's emotional growth and dealing with these challenges as much as they did getting her reading at the correct grade level.

I cannot say enough great things about LeTort Elementary School. They are developing well-rounded students who are learning to love school. It's not just about learning either. They have field trips with meaning and not just to go somewhere, give back to the community, make learning fun, care about each and every student, have Ram Raves once a month, and so much more. I wish we were staying longer than just one year.

A conscious effort is made to include values in the curriculum. They follow the core essentials.org values and discuss each month a different value. This year has been perseverance, cooperation, service, self-control, hope, wisdom, just to name a few.

We had a wonderful experience. Wouldn’t hesitate to keep our kids here longer if we weren’t moving. The school does an amazing job managing the influx and turnover of War College kids each year

Posted: June 25, 2018

Homework strongly supported the class work. The homework was always relevant.

Posted: June 25, 2018

Our kindergarten teacher was AMAZING, wanted to wrap her up and take her with us to our next assignment. Hands down the best teacher any of our kids have had in the last 15 years of schools all around the US and Europe.

We loved our time at this school. We had kids in all grades except 1st at one point or another. The administration is the best we’ve had in the eight different schools our kids have attended through the years. The small school fosters a family feeling. Amazing teachers and academics. We were sad to leave. You will be glad your students attended here.

The principals positivity is felt from the moment you walk in the doors of the school. My child's teacher was AMAZING and REALLY understood the needs of my child!! We wished we could stay!

Fabulous principal!!! He is an extremely positive person, making everyone, parents and students, feel welcomed and valued. Also, very responsive to parental concerns

I don't have firsthand experience of this.

Posted: May 15, 2018

The teachers at this school are extremely motivated to give their best to each student. I have been amazed at the way they can teach to different "levels" withing one class...spending extra time with those who need help, and advancing the work for those who need more of a challenge.

Posted: May 15, 2018

They have a wonderful positive character development program.

Posted: May 15, 2018

So glad we were assigned to LeTort during our year here as a military family!

Posted: May 15, 2018

Homework is very limited, which allows my child to enjoy other activities in the afternoon. For my third grader, there is a short review of her spelling words and a quick math page, but that's it. It takes maybe 15 minutes, max. Very age-appropriate.

Posted: May 15, 2018

The principal and the guidance counselor are phenomenal. They are organized and communicate with parents. They teach, model and instill values and strong character.

Posted: May 15, 2018

The speech therapist at the school has worked closely with my son, and provides regular updates and assessments. Again, my son was identified as not being challenged in 4th grade math, so he was quickly moved to 5th grade math. I appreciate that the school immediately worked to meet his academic needs.

Posted: May 15, 2018

I do not have any experience with bullying at the school, so cannot answer.

Posted: May 15, 2018

Our experience at this school has been very good. We are a military family and moving this summer, or our child would return to LeTort. My kids have attended Catholic school, DODEA schools, and public schools. LeTort does some things better and some things not as well as the others, but overall the experience has been just as good as it was at the other schools. The staff and faculty care, communicate and work hard. I'd definitely recommend.

Posted: May 15, 2018

I wish the school assigned more homework. My 4th grader usually doesn't have any homework; it is assigned but he often finishes in school. Other kids may not finish in school and I understand not wanting to overwhelm students, but I'd like to see 15 - 30 minutes of homework assigned to my child each day. I like the structure it helps provide.

Posted: May 15, 2018

The teachers at LeTort are enthusiastic, knowledgeable and invested in helping students succeed. They notified me within a few weeks into the school year that my child would benefit by moving ahead a year in math and science, and they made sure he was able to do so. I appreciated their effort to make sure he was challenged.

Posted: May 15, 2018

LeTort is very demographically diverse, and half of the student body is considered low income, as shown on this website. The school works hard to ensure that all students are treated as people who deserve respect and a chance to learn. I love that the kids are encouraged to be kind, understanding, and accept that people should be respected, despite their differences.

Posted: May 3, 2018

The principal and guidance counselor knew who I was and knew my kids by name in the first few weeks! It was not b/c they were in trouble but because they truly care about each child. The working relationship btwn the principal and the teachers seems to be very good. Obviously I'm on the outside but I have seen schools where the principal doesn't support the teachers and it's obvious. Mr. Carmichael seems great and the teachers work well with each other.

Posted: May 3, 2018

The teachers (for both my kids) were very open to providing different opportunities based on the ability level of the child. They use lots of ability grouping for the kids and are super flexible about moving kids to different levels as they need. BUT it's done in such a manner that the kids don't feel "better" or "worse" just "in a different group"

Posted: May 3, 2018

Teamwork is the name of the game. I eellike the teachers, and kids have a real sense of belonging and ownership- "this is OUR school" and they respect themselves and each other.

Posted: May 3, 2018

I wish we weren't leaving, but unfortunately as a military family we're on the move, again. My kids have absolutely thrived at Le Tort. The teachers have been truly amazing. The office staff and teachers aides are organized and they communicate well. Even the admission process (and school records pickup at year-end) was smooth and easy. It has been an absolute pleasure from day one. I absolutely recommend this school to any military family moving Carlisle- don't let the "score" deter you. Take a tour and see for yourself.

Posted: May 3, 2018

The teachers (for both my kids) were very open to providing different opportunities based on the ability level of the child. For example, a greater challenge for my child who was excelling and also extra help and a different pace for my child who was struggling. The kids are not overwhelmed with the amount of homework given, it is appropriate for their grade level(s).

Posted: May 3, 2018

The teachers have been fantastic! The communication between parents and teachers is great.

Posted: May 3, 2018

I love the "core values" the kids learn every month. Things like kindness, respect, and honesty. The counselor works with each class giving examples of how to apply these principle in everyday life and the kids really get!

What a fabulous school! Every interaction with the staff has been very positive. When I was concerned about my child's classroom placement the very first response from the administration was "You know your child best, and we trust you know what will be best for her." They have been very open to working with me every step of the way to make sure my child has had a wonderful learning experience at LeTort. She has learned a great deal in just a few weeks that she has been attending class. We ultimately have decided to home school our child, to take advantage of the wealth of learning opportunities in this area. That decision was an extremely difficult one to make, because this little school has given her so much time and attention. She is thriving there, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this school to anyone. The principal, Mr. Carmichael, the school secretary, and the teachers have all given my family personal attention. They make sure the military families coming in have all their questions answered, and are there as a support and resource in whatever way they can be. In fact, when I wanted to switch classrooms for my child they let me know they try to keep AWC family kids in the same classroom, so there is that additional support for those students. While I know we've made the right decision for our family, I am sad to leave this great school and supportive staff.

LeTort is an absolutely phenomenal little school! Our child can't wait to go each day. From the friendly and helpful front office staff, to the super knowledgeable and hands on and positive principal and guidance counselor, to the energetic and awesome teachers, to the wonderful PTO that is very welcoming to newcomers, to great support staff including the nurse, librarian, custodian, and cafeteria team, I could go on and on. Everyone we encounter is upbeat and positive and really has a heart for the students and helping them succeed. Communication with parents is fantastic and we always feel welcome in the building, especially at lunch when they have a special area we can eat with our student. Our child was identified as needing reading intervention right after school started for the year and daily services were begun immediately. Our student has made amazing progress this year! As an AWC family who has had moved a lot and had children in many schools over the last 15 years, LeTort has been among our favorite for all the reasons mentioned and much more. We just learned we are staying beyond the one year, and we are thrilled that our kids will continue to attend Letort.

We were pleasantly surprised by this little school. My daughter completed 4th and 5th grades here. We found the teachers to be firm, fair, and caring. They met my daughter where she was at academically and challenged her above and beyond what was required. She was well prepared for middle school. The principal was one of the most engaged principals I have ever met (and this was our 5th elementary school). He is truly involved in the every day lives of his kids. We were able to meet with the school counselor for academic testing, and she was able to give us more insight into my child and her learning style than any other teacher or academic professional ever had. Do not let the older building or the Title I designation throw you. There is a lot of teaching and learning that goes on in that building - primarily because the teachers and staff care so much about the kids.

We are very blessed to have our child attend LeTort Elementary School. The staff is dedicated to the students and work hard to meet their needs. The building principal is very involved and knows all of the students at a deep level. I have been impressed by the quick response that I get from my child's teacher. The school PTO is very involved and create fun events where all students can come and enjoy themselves. This school is amazing! I only wish that we could stay here, but unfortunately have to move on due to attending the Army War College. Thank you LeTort for an AMAZING year!

The LeTort Elementary classrooms have terrible discipline problems from kids as young as 8 years old who are violent, disruptive and lack respect for authority. Classes receive continuous visits by the principal for problem kids he knows by name resulting in detention and expulsion. The principal is nice but seems overwhelmed with these issues so he does not even know the names of the good kids since negative attention takes up his time. The local bullies tip over desks, refuse to do school work, disrespect teachers and pick on new incoming kids. All of this negatively affects the good kids who want to succeed. The guidance counselor is fantastic and really cares but it could be an uphill battle. Most teachers are very good but they try to deal with the problem kids who are out of control by mixing seating arrangements of bad kids with the good kids who then have to suffer abuse and bullying. The only reason the school isn't even lower than a 4 and test scores are not even lower than the bottom 1/3 of the state at LeTort is mainly because of the military kids having academic standards prior to arrival. 2/3 of student body get free or reduced lunch while military kids make up about 1/3 of the other student body The PTO is made up mostly of military spouses without much support from the other locals in Carlisle. It has been a below average experience for our kids and the worst school they have been enrolled in over the past decade because of kids with discipline problems dominating the attention. We have moved all over the country every few years and have seen many different schools. If you are a military family coming here for a year, consider avoiding this school and enroll in the private school instead, it could be worth the expense protecting your kids from a declining environment or move to a surrounding community with better schools if you do not live on the military installation.

We are here in Carlisle with the Army War College families, and I was very nervous in the beginning of the year to send my kids to this school because of the score that Letort was given on great schools. The moment I met the principal I was so impressed I decided this was the school I was going to have my kids go to. Then I saw the school, loved the size and the size of the class rooms! The teachers and faculty are incredible and we all felt very welcomed and at home here!! Our kids have truly enjoyed their year here and will miss their teacher and friends! Letort elementary has been a wonderful addition to our fabulous time here, we are glad we made this decision:)

Letort provided a wonderful team of educators from the principal, Mr. Carmichael to the K5 teachers Mrs. DeAngelis and Mrs. Giewont and the counselor Mrs. Gerras in between. We felt our three children were so well cared for and when issues popped up they were dealt with true care and concern. The kids are greeted every morning by teachers, the principal is always around and active, the counselor is involved, this school puts kids first!

Le Tort is a fabulous school!!! Mr. Carmichael is an incredible principal. He plays an active role in the school, supporting the students and teachers, and is frequently in the hallways and cafeteria. Mrs. Gerras the Guidance Counsellor is the best I have ever experienced. She quickly learned the strengths and weaknesses of my son, and worked hard to match the school experience to his needs. As a result, he has had a fabulous year. He has been excited to get on the bus each morning, and eager to tell us all he has learned each night. The teachers are dedicated and extremely competent, and they go out of their way to make learning fun. You will not be disappointed with the education your child receives from this school.

LeTort Elementary School has proven to be a great school for my two children this year as a military family attending the Army War College this year. They have gone above and beyond to welcome those of us who are only here for a year attending the AWC. The principal, counselor, secretary, nurse and teachers have ALL been AMAZING! They are friendly and kind and truly care about the children. Wish we could stay longer!!

LeTort Elementary is a terrific school! As a military family this is my daughters 4th school and is truly the best. The teachers, counselors and principal have a vested interest in each and every student. The academic standards are high and the students are encouraged to exceed. Do not let the small 1930's building or the neighborhood deter you from enrolling your child at LeTort. The staff and students have embraced us knowing we would only be here for a year. The additional programs offered in Art, Chorus, Band, Strings and ACT have given my daughter more opportunities to thrive. Mr. Carmichael has to be the hardest working Principal I've known, always ensuring the needs of the students and staff are being met. We have thoroughly enjoyed this year at LeTort!

Being a military family, we have had experiences at 7 elementary schools. Letort has been among the best. We have a child in the gifted program and the have worked to make sure he is continually challenged. We also have a child with a learning disability and the extra attention and help has had him excel this year. The staff is friendly and teachers want to see your children succeed. Mrs. Gerras is involved with all the kids and Mr. Carmichael is always walking the halls with a friendly smile and hello. The addition to the school gives the students lots of space. The small enrollment lets everyone know each other and form a community. Great school despite its rating.

Letort is amazing, the staff and faculty are great. Teachers are truly involved with the student and want to to succeed. My son had problems at another school in the district and that is why I tranferred him and now he is doing amazing. He has great friends, plays on the basketball team and the kids acutally encourage one another and looks out for each other. Mr. Carmicheal is great if I have a problem he is always there. Another wonderful thing about Letort is the my children's teacher. The flow of communication is amazing. I wish I would of enrolled my son here when we first got to the area. Theses school rating do not do Letort justice, for anyone coming to the area in the future and have school age children i strongly recommend Letort for its great team of faculty and teachers who show that they care and love the students at Letort Elementary School.

The team at Letort Elementary School was absolutely fabulous, patient, and creative with our daughter during the 2012-2013 school year. We are a military family stationed for a year at Carlisle Barracks. Our daughter has a sharp mind but had some unique learning requirements due to SPD and ADHD. The team at Letort, including Ms. Ann Gerras, Ms. Traci Olszweki, Ms. Shawna Scherer, and the Principal, Mr. Aaron Carmichael devoted a great deail time and energy with my wife and I in order to develop unique and creative approaches to meeting our daughter's needs. The end result was a fabulous year of learning for our daughter where she thrived in the classroom, made great friends, and bonded with her teaching team. We are very grateful for the efforts of the Letort Elementary School team. It was the one thing that made it very hard for us to leave once I graduated from the War College and had to move on to my next assignment. Letort Elementary School is a fabulous school. If we moved back to Carlisle, it would be our first choice.

My family has attended Letort for 3 years. My children have attended grades 1, 2,3,4 and 5. We are a military family and have attended schools in NC and overseas. Letort will give your children a true home town experience. The teachers truly care about your children. They will respond to any email immediately. They even return the kids email during summer break simply because they care about your child. The entire staff is very open to parent participation and encourage parent involvement. The curriculum is Cumberland County PA elementary. I do not believe any other of the elementary schools in the area will give your child additional curriculum. All of the elementary schools in the area follow the same curriculum. So, unless you place your child in a accelerated private elementary it is all about the school environment and teaching methods. The children are nurtured at Letort and learning through positive reinforcement is practiced. You will get up to date reports on your child and the teachers will work with you to address any issue. My children had a great experience and developed positive relationships with all their teachers. They had straight A's and had FUN!

As a military family, my children have attended a number of elementary schools, LeTort being our 8th one! The statistics you see here does not give you the true rating that LeTort deserves. It all starts with the administration and Mr. Carmichael is an amazing principal. He is enthusiastic, energetic, and a great team builder. Both he and the guidance counselor, Mrs. Gerras, are passionate about the students and the school and instill that sense of camaraderie. My 5th grader had Mrs. Janosco and her gentle, yet fun loving personality helped him to overcome his test anxiety. She was the perfect fit for him and he blossomed and matured as he gained self confidence. My 3rd grader had Mrs. Long and she knew just how to keep him challenged and motivated. Having volunteered in the classrooms, I can attest that both are outstanding teachers who knew how to cater to each individual student. We truly miss the uniqueness of Carlisle and the wonderful teachers and staff at LeTort. The learning opportunities - not only academic but the intangible ones as well - are without a doubt another reason that makes LeTort a wonderful school!

LeTort Elementary School ROCKS!! This amazing gem of a school made our year in Carlisle PA simply unforgettable. Do not let the small size and 1936 building fool you - the teachers, principal Aaron Carmichael and staff are TOP NOTCH! As a military family who has moved our 4 children 9 times in 14 years, being anywhere for only 11 months is challenging. We worry about the effect of so many schools, new teachers and friends. We were comforted to get advance word of mouth by a number of military families of just how amazing this school truly is-and we were not disappointed! We drove by the school in late July and saw 2 folks working -- it turned out to be principal Carmichael and counselor Ann Gerras -- they dropped what they were doing, gave us a personal tour of the school and a school welcome packet - we were impressed. LeTort truly is about people - and they all care deeply about the children with whom they are entrusted. The teachers we had for 2,3 and 5th grade were excellent (Mrs. Scherer, Mrs. Long and Mrs. Bieber!) and a joy to know; we felt so blessed to have our children in their care. We will always have such fond memories of our special year at LeTort - we miss it! :(

Simply outstanding. As a military family, our kids were welcomed by an engaged and exceptionally well faculty. This has been a great year academically and socially for our daughter. If we were staying here instead of moving, I would keep her in Letort next year without question. If you are military and reading this, I STRONGLY recommend joining and supporting the wonderful Parent Teacher Organization!

There are not enough words to describe how GREAT this schools team is. Our daughter is in the 1st grade and LOVES LOVES LOVES going to school. That is far from how miserable she was last year while attending a private school. I am so sad we have to move. The staff has been a blessing to our daughters education. I wish I could take them all with us. I hope to find such dedicated individuals at our next school. THANK YOU! This military family SALUTES you.

We absolutely ADORE this school. We are a military family and have children in 2nd and 5th grades at LeTort this year. This is our 5th grader's 5th school since kindergarten (including a private school) and our very FAVORITE school of all! The teachers are ALL very caring and they work hard to meet each student's individual needs. The 5th grade team is incredible. They truly love what they do and strive to challenge and engage each student. Our 5th grader is in the gifted program at LeTort and he has enjoyed the added enrichment he has received through "ACT". The principal and guidance counselor are approachable, caring, and attentive. I volunteer at the school on a regular basis and have never seen a discipline problem that wasn't handled with swift action and love. The students respect their teachers and the administration because they know that the feeling is mutual! LeTort Elementary School is what all elementary schools should be. We will miss this sweet school!

Best elementary school I have ever found. We came from a very highly rated school but we moved for a reason. We lived there for 8 years and though the schools were rated highly, it went down hill every year. The teachers stopped caring and all that mattered was test scores. Here it is completely different. Learning is fun, the teachers are extremely supportive, extra activities are offered to encourage your child to stay engaged and learning at home, we couldn't be happier. The principal is amazing as well. He is a rarity in that he understand the importance of technology and keeping our kids involved through enjoying learning. He knows all their names, greets them accordingly, and is always doing something silly and fun as a reward. I love his "big kid" nature. None of my children have ever cared about a principal at their schools, that changed this year. I only wish they went K-12 so my eldest could go here too! P.S. There IS a wide socio economic attendance at this school. Not everyone has parents who can spend that extra time on their education with them, I believe this is where the test scores come into play. There has to be learning at home too.

As a military family, our many moves have placed our kids in 5 differenct elementary schools. LeTort ranks the BEST of them all! It may be an old school, but it is filled with the the most cutting-edge educational experiences! The principal and the amazing faculty are heart of the school taking an individualized approach to each child unlike we have ever experienced regardless of academic ability. We entered the school having reservations, but are now wishing that we never had to leave. Yes, it is just that great!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this school! The 5th grade teaching team represent the best mix of professionalism and caring, presenting challenges while having fun. I ALWAYS feel welcome. The school's principal is excellent, bar-none. One of so many benefits of a small school is knowing the principal and the guidance counselor (also excellent). The staff from the secretary to the school nurse are fantastic. My picky eater even eats at the cafeteria every day--compliments to the chefs! My daughter loves writing for the school paper, singing in select chorus and the gifted program (that teacher gave me her home number in case we needed anything- wow!). Parent involvement is recognized and appreciated, whether helping with Fall Festival or the Race for Education. All events are well- attended. Early on, the school hosted a "Pastries for Parents" event in the am just so everyone could meet. Even Math Night was CROWDED--older students ran different games for all ages. The kids are enthusiastic to participate because the administration, staff and parents show up! Go to Letort! The ratings need to catch up with the excellent place for learning that Letort worked so hard to become!

We live LeTort Elementary. The principal is fantastic. He is engaging, supportive, and energetic. We are a military family, and only here a year, but we felt welcomed from day one. The school counselor is attentive to every child's needs, and capabilities. Every neighbor we have shares the same opinion about the school. Hearing it was a Title 1 school scared me at first, but I would have never known it, if I had not been told. All kids are held accountable, taught to respect one another, and challenged academically at their individual skill level.Go Rams!

We had our daughter at LeTort this past year, and were very pleased with our experience there. We found the principal truly exceptional, especially in terms of leadership, creativity, energy, and vision -- he really set the tone for the wonderful experience we had at LeTort. We were also impressed with the school's staff, especially the guidance counselor, and our daughter's teacher, who was engaged, energetic, easy to deal with, and a very good communicator and instructor. The school itself in on the cutting edge of several initiatives in the district, such as the fielding of iPads for classroom use. And while the charming, traditional-looking building may not be as new as others in the district, after having toured both Mooreland and Bellaire, it's obvious the district goes to great lengths to ensure each elementary school has the same resources and equipment. Regarding parent involvement, things seem to have improved dramatically over just a few years ago -- these days, the PTO is among the largest and most active in the district. All in all, we would highly recommend the school to any parents moving to the district.

We had 2 children in LeTort this year and have loved the school. The principal shows leadership and is very engaged, is a team-builder, and is creative (the kids thought he and the teachers were "rock stars" because they had a small float in a Carlisle parade last fall!). I always get the sense that teachers and staff really want to be there everyday. Plus, even though it serves an underpriviledge neighborhood, the school is not defined by that. Parents of all socio-economic levels attend PTO events, school concerts, and award ceremonies. My children have been challenged with enrichment in instruction. For example, my first grader is doing grade 2 math and grade 3 spelling words; the child's needs are being met while the teacher is also able to focus on those children who need more focued instruction. My fifth grader has plenty of opportunties to excel as a gifted student. Even though the greatschools.net rating is 6 of 10 based on test scores, if a more varied indicator was used, it would rank 7-8 in my opinion.

We are a military family that has two children attending LeTort. We could not be happier with the school. The principal has shown strong leadership and has a staff of excellent teachers who are both motivated and dedicated. My children were challenged academically and received an outstanding education this year.

LeTort Elementary has amazing, dedicated teachers. We are a military family with two children attending LeTort this year. My children's teachers are exceptional. They have provided a challenging, safe and creative educational environment. The school faculty goes the extra mile each and every day to make sure every child is learning and encouraged. The principal is young and motivated, he is dedicated to this small school. I interviewed 5 principals in my search to find a good school for my children. After questioning the principal at Le Tort about test scores, bullying policies and teacher experience, I knew LeTort was the place I wanted to send my children. I am very picky about my children's education and I have been extremely happy with Le Tort Elementary. If you have questions, please speak with the principal, he will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

My son has been in this school for 2 years and I couldn't be happier. The worst thing about this school is the parents, so little of them help and the ones that do end up being overworked. I have helped the last two years and continue on helping even with my 60+ hours work weeks. Couldn't ask for a better PTO president Jess..
