It's a school. The curriculum is neofail but that's nation wide. Kids are kids. Schools are schools. Remember another brick in the wall? Well there is no utopian school. There are better curriculums however, but that's in the nation's past unless you can afford private school.

The support staff at Mt Holly Springs works very hard and they have some wonderful teachers, but the children are not allowed to be children. They go to recess right before lunch and get worked up. When they enter the mult purpose room for lunch, they are not allowed to talk to their friends. The principal yells at them through a bullhorn. They are forced to sit alone in timeout if they skip or dance to their seat. They are forced to sit in shame on the stage if they talk. The aides yell at the children if they talk. The teachers are not allowed to teach and be creative. Most of the class time is spent teaching the test, mainly the PSSAs. A shuffle of the principals within the district might help this situation. Mt Holly is an area with poverty and single parent families and rather than provide support for children in this situation, the principal points it out during back to school night, which makes several families uncomfortable. She even had the nerve to say that they are not surprised when scores do not improve. The CASD does not care to fix the problem. It is apparent they choose to leave her in a small school where she cannot affect many children.

I have two children that attended MHSE last year. My one daughter was in Kindergarten and my other was in first grade. The kindergartner absolutely loved school and her teacher was wonderful. My first grader was having a bit of trouble this year. At the beginning of the school year, they go over everything they learned the year prior and that was easy for her. When the math came on and the harder weekly spelling tests, she was beside herself. She had emotional breakdowns in school and had actually REFUSED to do work. That was not my daughter. She never acts like that. We had her tested for any kind of learning problems and everything turned out to be fine, but I have to say the way that this faculty worked with her was amazing!!! I would reccommend MHSE to ANYONE!!!!
