Not a good school at all. We thought this school would be better than the regular ones but its worse. The admin is rude and condescending. They send kids home when theyre not sick. They over test and the kids dont even do well on the tests. Zero focus on academics.

I dislike this school. I was a student that went there and I am mentally disabled. I was bullied and they did not do anything about it. They do not have a support system and they do not follow the ada (Americans with disabilities act). I am VERY dissatisfied. They kicked me out and now are saying that they never said that just to sabotage my new start at @JamesGettysElementrySchool.

I have worked in other school systems, but GMCS has been my favorite. It's a small close-knit community that supports each other. The team I worked with was so welcoming when I started here and continued to support me while I learned the ropes. Staff go out of their way to show their appreciation for the work that I have done, it does not go unnoticed. The administration is supportive and open to ideas and financial support of supplies when needed. Compared to the other places I have worked, there are greater expectations for behavior. Things are addressed when they happen, not only with expected consequences, but also with teachers that listen and provide guidance so behaviors don't happen in the future. I am looking forward to next year!!

GMCS is hands-down one of the best schools around. I've had the opportunity to be in several different districts (both public and private), and Gettysburg Montessori goes above and beyond. Students, staff, and families all feel welcomed and loved. The staff at GMCS tries hard to develop the whole child. I would rate it higher than five stars if I could!

The team I worked with at my school job is wonderful for several reasons. First, everyone is incredibly supportive and always willing to lend a helping hand. We have a great sense of camaraderie and teamwork, which made the work environment enjoyable and motivating. My team is kind and respectful towards one another, creating a positive and inclusive atmosphere. We celebrated each other's successes and provided encouragement during challenging times. Lastly, the team has a strong work ethic and a shared commitment to achieving our goals. We collaborated effectively, communicated openly, and always strived for excellence. Overall, it was the combination of support, kindness, and dedication that make the team so wonderful to work with and our school so GREAT!

Gettysburg Montessori has the perfect blend of a traditional public school (being held accountable to state standards) with a Montessori twist. Students are given charge of their learning and the staff provides freedom within limits and choice activities. The staff is loving, compassionate, and knowledgeable. They go above and beyond to differentiate for children by providing support at the appropriate level.

GMCS is an amazing place for students to learn and a supportive and fun place to work. It has grown and evolved over the years and continues to get better all of the time. The staff who stay long term are those who are passionate about education, love GMCS, and care about the students. They are not there just for a pay check. The approach is a blend of traditional and Montessori. The Montessori components include a prepared environment, high expectations for behavior, choice, hands-on Montessori Works, projects, and more.

The school caters to the students with behaviors and has no regard for the other students. They are unsupportive of and disrespectful to their teachers, causing a lot of teacher turnover. The mixed classrooms mean less instruction time. They claim to be Montessori but most definitely are not.

I have 5 children who have attended this school. Hands down, one of the best uplifting schools out there. Each of the 5 have different personalities, and I absolutely love how this school encourages the children to be creative and themselves!! The staff is amazing as well. I just wish they school would expand, and our children could graduate for Gettysburg Montessori!

This school takes a common sense approach to the busywork that is homework in the lower elementary grades.

Several teachers at this small elementary school have advanced degrees and are extraordinarily dedicated. THey are all Montessori-trained and bring that unique approach to this free public charter.

My child has learning disabilities and both his teacher and special ed coordinator have been very responsive and helped me whenever needed. His teacher has given him extra time and attention and taken the time to get to know him.

Best of both worlds - Montessori method is applied through hands on manipulatives and independent learning; and being a charter school, I'm not faced with a hefty tuition (in addition to the already hefty school taxes) every year. We have first rate teachers at GMCS - they take the time to listen & truly care. There is a community feel to the school. My oldest child does not learn the way the traditional schools teach. I found that the traditional school personnel would not take the time to find out why. If it had not been for GMCS, he would have fallen through the cracks & been incorrectly labeled. Thanks GMCS for turning around a child's perspective of school, for thinking & doing things "outside the box", and for actively listening to parents.
