My children love this school! As a parent I have 100% peace of mind when I send my kids. There is always a warm welcome when they walk in the door, even if it's early and are not in the best mood. They have a very organized system/ schedule so the students know right where they need to put their things and what they need to do to start their day. All the teachers are great with rewarding and praise for making good choices. They are also patient when they are not making the best choices. Parent communication is amazing, with a communication log in their homework folder, communicationis easy. From classroom newsletters to student planers as well as social media post, I always know what's going on at the school, in their class, and what for homework. Only 12 students assigned in each room,, I know my kids get lots of 1:1 attention. They have many accommodation for special needs students, and really strive to teach the students with many different styles. As my daughter put it best " They teach me how I can and want to learn"
The administration is amazing ! Have questions or concerns, it's easy to schedule a 1:1, or a group meeting. The principal shows her heart for God, each student, the school and the community everyday! (when Covid hit, she drove around and visited every family she could, just to let the kids see a friendly face that was not on screen. When she called to schedule her visit, the first thing she did was ask how we are and if there was anything she could do to help out with virtual learning or if our family needed any other help!)
SJCS is a community all on it's own. They do activities to support their community, as well as missions overseas. The principal is always creating new after school activities to get the students more involved, as well as finding funding so it's not a burden on the families. Their Lego robotics team has so much fun, they don't even know they are learning. Also the" First Tee " golf program is fantastic!! This is a tiny school that has it all!

The school accepts special needs children because they need their tuition money. However, they do not know how to teach special needs children and do not even try. As a parent, I was sad to see how my child was excluded from class work & events. The school doesn’t seem to believe in the potential of kids with additional needs. The teaching process is disorganized. The emails coming from the teachers and staff are rude. I do not recommend this school for neurotypical children or children with additional needs. As someone else commented, they would try to take your child’s outside scholarship to help out other children.

This school appears to great for special needs children, however this is more of a day-care than a school. special needs children are lucky if they get 30 minutes of one on one with their teacher which a regular class has 8 students and many of the children have their aba therapists present in the classroom. Thank God for covid because we were to see first hand that our child had barely learned anything there for the 3 yrs. Now that we homeschool our child its amazing at how much she learned on k12 online school. Its amazing that they have a principal like Mrs Durand. She actually had the nerve to try to take my child's grant away for the school and when I said no, It was obvious she was not happy. its too bad they have her there as the principal.

My son was physically and mentally abused at this school. His psychiatrist was in shock by the things my son told her about what the principal did to him. Holding his arms behind his back and sitting on him until he stopped wiggling, but telling me he was bitting her. I would bite someone too if they kept holding me down! My son stopped playing with friends because he said the principal told him no one likes him. This school should be shut down!

I liked my sons teacher, but the principal was a whole different story.

My son was highly upset every day before and after school. His whole personality changed for months after he went to this school. He was scared of everyone and everything.

My son is ONLY hyper and they had no idea how to handle him. He no disabilities like majority of the other students.

My son stopped playing with other kids for a long time after this school. He told us the principle said that no one likes him and they kept him separated from the other students.

Mrs. Myer, who is her teacher this year, is very understanding and kind even with her strong work ethic.

My daughter is speaking more with complete sentences and is a self starter
with her homework and projects.

Bullying is not tolerated and as the school is private it can get rid of bullies.
However I haven't heard of any bullying.

We transferred our daughter out of public school where autistic kids were treated badly and mishandled.

My daughter who is autistic gets homework every night in English, Math,
and History for hours. She does it with my help when she doesn't understand something. She also keeps a reading log where she is currently writing about South Carolina's history.

This school is a Godsend! Children learn at their own pace in a safe and nurturing environment. In addition to getting a solid foundation in academics, children learn to be tolerant and kind to each other. The children are happy and secure. I am very happy with this school and feel good about sending my child here each day.

We tried various schools, both public and private, and once we found Saint John's we knew our search was over. The small size allows teachers to focus on individual students and tailor lessons based on their abilities. All the students are grouped with others their age, but each gets challenged based on his ability. Despite the school's small size, they routinely earn a spot at the FIRST Lego Statewide competition!
