First Baptist School is a special place because its faculty and staff truly live out the mission of the school every day. From the classroom to the athletic fields, there is a genuine commitment to developing students not only academically, but also in character, leadership, and accountability. The teachers and staff consistently demonstrate care, integrity, and a desire to see students succeed.

One of the greatest strengths of the school is its athletic program under the leadership of the athletic director. He is doing a fantastic job building a culture of excellence and respect. He holds both athletes and parents accountable for their actions, creating an environment where discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship are expected and valued. That level of leadership has helped create programs that are successful not only in competition, but also in shaping young people into responsible individuals.

The school and especially the athletic director rules with a dictatorship where they will allow the parents and kids to have a say so in a leaders ability to do their job without taking an accountability, the facts and truth from all sides of the story. The school should be disappointed in the athletic directors results, an actions of trying to lead the school into a better light.

First Baptist is over the top! The teachers and administration have such a devotion to the education of children. The campus is located downtown Charleston, close to the battery, we are also excited about the new school building opening this coming school year!

We have been part of FBS for 16 years and love the atmosphere of the downtown and island campus. If you want to solid education, loving teachers, growing in the word and love of God this is your school!

I have 3 children currently attending FBS. I could not be happier being a part of the First Baptist family. I had sent my children to 2 other private schools- I can not stress enough our 4th year at this school has proven even more that we are at the right place. I have a child who loves the arts, a child who loves sports, - 2 high schoolers and a middle schooler and I am a VERY happy parent.

I have been at First Baptist for 2 years and all of my children have been loved, challenged, and supported. I am grateful for the opportunities they have with small class sizes and dedicated teachers. The location and planning makes for great field trips, class trips, and learning. I also enjoy that drop off and pick up is a speedy process.

My children have been at FBS for 8 years and have loved it. They are nurtered by caring faculty and staff. They love their friends and the atmosphere is so much like a family. Highly recommend.

We have had two recent graduates and currently have a HS student. Over the past decade, we have had an issue with one or two teachers - but that is probably the case with every school. Very excited about the new HS opening!

First Baptist is a small, loving and caring environment. Everyone is very welcoming. For my older son who went to school there k thru 3 the school was a little too small. He needed a larger class (there was only 10 children in his classroom). For my younger son who has attended since 4k and now is a rising 5th grader it has been wonderful as he really needs the smaller school environment. I know from first hand experience that the education in the lower school is just as strong as the best public school in the state. The children are well prepared.

I have had my children at FBS for 10 years. The elementary is excellent & the teachers, staff & administration are GREAT! It was a hard transition to middle & high school for my daughter. And, yes that was because of the math depart. But, they have worked very hard to improve & I strongly believe they have with new teachers & program. The new cyber club is pushing into new territory, making the students stronger. They did exceptionally well in the international Cyber Patriot Challenge for their first year! The new middle school building on campus is wonderful. There are amazing building plans for FBS in the immediate future. Look for updated buildings & a top athletic facility in 2014. But, best of all is the character of my children. The Christian atmosphere can not be met and they have solid friendships. A small school may not be able to offer tons of elective courses, but they make up for the personal one on one you can have with the teachers & administration. I love FBS & am glad we have weathered the storm when it was tough. No school is perfect, but I'll go with the laid back attitude at FBS way before I will get caught up in any other drama of other schools.

I continue to be pleased with the high standards and expectations set by teachers at First Baptist School of Charleston. When I happen upon a teacher, their conversation is not about mundane but their subject matter, which they love to teach, like Blais Pascal's Pense's, the mathmatician, getting into his thoughts about life and the universe and creation.

From my first visit to the First Baptist campus, I was touched by the quaintness of the school. The students park at The Battery and walk to school. Class sizes are small. It reminded me of schools when I was growing up. Maybe it's too much like schools when I was growing up. Because of the economy, my daughter went to Wando High School for a year and did not want to return to First Baptist. The elective courses are limited and the math and computer departments are surprisingly weak. There are also some really strong, caring teachers. But if students at this school are to be competitive for college admissions, First Baptist needs to enter the 21st century. Great students and involved parents at this school. I miss the sweet atmosphere of this school for my daughter. But she is more on track and her Wando girlfriends know more about their future goals because they have been exposed to courses like biomed or bioengineering, things that a day or two of career shadowing just won't cover. There are lots of good, public high school options out there. Be open-minded enough to check them out.

i go to school here ever since 1st grade and yes the faculty and teachers are kind and caring. Elementary is great , because it prepare you well for middle school, but middle school does not prepare you for high school. And honestly the h=middle and high school math department is a HUGE joke.

First Baptist school is a WONDERFUL, SUPPORTIVE community with an excellent faculty and student body. The teachers care deeply about their students and maintain high academic standards. In the high school, every teacher knows every student, regardless of whether or not he or she is in their class. It's part of being a close-knit, spiritually-minded community.

i wouldn't even consider this a school, its more of a place kids just slack off at. i was a student there so i have experienced it first hand. if you want to kid to go to an extremely easy where they wont be challenged and teachers don't care about anything then send them here. this "school" is a disgrace to south carolina education.
