My child has been going to this school for 4 years. It seems as if most students in her class every year are below average. Last year her teacher told me that if we wanted a conference I would have to request it. I didn't agree with that process at all but I did, 3 times, because I feel its necessary. My child dealt with being bullied last year as well and I was not at all happy with how the teacher handled it. I would not suggest moving into the area that will put your child at this school.

This data is shocking. Student Performance and test scores have steadily declined dramatically over the past 10 years. The teachers come and go like theres a revolving door because of low morale and poor leadership ethics and ability. Why hasnt the principal been removed?? She is simply ineffective in so many ways. The district knows how bad it is, but does nothing to try to repair the situation. Its tragic.
Shame on BCSD for failing to educate these underprivileged children.

I think the Principal is lacking in the skills required to run the school effectively and does not allow her teachers the freedom to teach their best way while using up their after school hours with nonessential meetings.

This school is the reason my children are in the process of being switched to homeschool.
My daughter was called racial slurs on the bus. In the first grade. The bus driver did nothing.
They file for "abandonment" and want money if you are 30 minutes late getting a child, even if you call in advance because something happened and it was an emergency.
Rather than giving information on how children are doing, they will wait until a child is failing and only then blame the parents, who had no idea it was happening.
This school is well below the state averages on every subject but the teachers blame the parents for the failure rate.
School busses run multiple routes in both am and pm which causes students to be late.
The neighborhoods left for last are almost exclusively low income and these same students are the ones who go the cafeteria for breakfast, making them even later and setting them even farther behind academically, even though they were already at a disadvantage to begin with simply because of their financial status.
The principal speaks down on families who have hit hard times and treats people like they are lower than her.

I believe CPE is a wonderful school - Mrs Schabel and Niepman were great 4K teachers! I cant say enough about the Class Room , Programs and Principal. All the extra attention given to students there - they deserve to be recognized!!! Car pool ran smooth ect - YOU ROCK COLLEGE PARK ELEMENTARY

I feel very blessed that one of my boys has been able to attend CPE. He was involved in many activities. The teachers kept me updated at a moment's notice. The instruction is out of this world. The teachers are very inviting not only for the students but parents also. The school has an open door policy. It is obvious the main focus is the success of each and every student!

College Park Elementary's teachers are extremely hard working and dedicated! The negative aspect of the school lies in the main office personnel, mainly the secretaries. I have never been to a school with such unprofessional and rude staff members in all my life!
