This is a small school with a large and fabulous reputation. I'm so thankful that my children attend this school. The staff is stellar and my children are happy. Love MMSOA

Admin is completely oblivious to what is actually happening in their school. There was a "fight club" last year and admin had no clue, yet parents and students from other schools did. Teachers do not comply to 504 plans. Some teachers also strive off intimidating and belittling children. The mental and emotional health stress that is put on students is unacceptable. If your child changes for PE they aren't allowed to use the stall to change and are forced to change in front of others. These are vital years in growth and on creating a positive outlook on life but being treated like they're less than isn't a great way to achieve it. They care more about their accolades than the actual well being of students.

School lives off past reputation and it shows. Lack of learning/teaching across board. Teachers only assign and use chromebook vs actual teaching at board and showing/explaining. Principal promotes poor practices and morale. Would not recommend unless major changes at top.

The last couple of years have been wonderful. The administration, staff, teachers and district have made this school a place where students want to come and learn. Keep up the great momentum and pride, and we look forward to the future.

My daughter loved this school. The principal is forward thinking and cares about students and parents. There are many activities that enhance student learning and rewards received for a job well done. Love this school!

My daughter has attended 3 schools due to moves and this school is by far the worst. Majority of 6th grade teachers do not care at all about teaching and helping students. If you have issues, do not expect to be allowed in school to discuss with administration, they will not allow in building. Teachers have zero care in kids understanding and learning material. My daughter struggled in one area and teacher was not willing to help, even when child asked. Teachers use assignments as punishments. At one point this was a school of choice, but it has went extremely downhill and the new principal is contributing to the issues.

This school is smaller but that's about all it has going for it. Like most any school, it has some really great teachers but then several who are well below par. If you think your child will end up in Algebra, I would recommend avoiding this school as the current teacher is one of the worst. Very critical, impossible to have a conversation with, and blames everything on the students. They don't ask enough questions, don't spend enough time reviewing, etc. Her lack of effective teaching methods is never the issue. Definitely not doing the students any favors as they had into high school.

Marrington Middle School of the Arts is an amazing school! The students truly seem to thrive with the arts focused curriculum and the Fine Arts facility is one of the best around for a middle school.

Teachers continually look for ways to deduct from your child's grade. For example: Given a quiz with several geometric shapes like squares, rectangles and triangles with sides labeled a, b and c how would you find the area of each figure? My child used the algebraic expression for the rectangle, a x b = Area and solved correctly for area. All the other problems were also solved correctly using the algebraic formula appropriate for each figure. The grade given was a 66 which is an "F" because my child used the labels given for each side of the given figure (a and b) and not the formula "Area = lw". Discouraging for an 11 year old 6th grader. Be prepared for at least three hours of normal homework per day and more when there is a project due for a class. The teachers provide no student encouragement or support beyond what you will find "...on the web site." My child spent several days on a drawing and writing project. Grade given, 60 = "F". When I e-mailed the teacher (their prefered method of communication) asking what was lacking in the project, the response was, "Your child has a (points) ruberic, have them show it to you."
