Stiles point has a large number of excellent teachers and our overall experience has been excellent.
GreatSchools has a couple of errors or things I think are unfair.
1) Security is excellent. Full-time guards are present and access is well controlled.
2) GreatSchools marks progress low. This may be true, but it's based on students already performing at the top of the range. As the parent of a G&T student here, I would like to see more done to help overachievers reach their full potential, potentially even advanced classes moving them through additional grade levels without officially advancing them above grade age, but it's difficult to fault the school for being full of high performing students.
It's odd to see JI Elementary rated higher here. In terms of raw scores, Stiles Point has a much larger percentage of students achieving at or above grade level than JI does. We've considered whether it would make sense to try to get our child into Buist and decided against it.

Both of my children attend Stiles Point Elementary, and we couldn't be happier to be part of such a special school community. We love that SPES offers a perfect blend of caring, nurturing support and strong academic rigor. Even though itÂ’s a large school, it truly feels like a close-knit neighborhood family where every child is known and valued.

We have two sons that attend this school and our experience has been very good, even considering the pandemic. One of our boys has a learning disability and they have been very supportive. Their early leaning program is excellent and we are fortunate that our youngest is able to attend.

We have been extremely pleased with our experience. My child is entering into the 2nd grade. We have seen incredible progress over the years academically, and his test scores reflect that. The school community and PTA are very involved. The teachers and administrative staff are amazing. You canÂ’t go wrong with this neighborhood school, and we look forward to our next three years.

We are extremely happy with this school.

We cherish the 15 min we spend with our child to complete homework- it lets us know our childÂ’s progress and includes us in the educational process.
I cannot phathom why homework would be an issue for parents.
Posted: March 1, 2019
There is a dedication here that is above expectations. This is not just a job and it really shows.
Posted: March 1, 2019
WeÂ’ve lived in many cities where the school children look and act ferral- the children here have extremely good manners and are respectful to each other and adults.
Posted: March 1, 2019
Our child is only in kindergarten, but so far the staff is extremely dedicated and team oriented. All smiles all the time and a principle that is not above taking part in the fun.
Posted: March 1, 2019
I am not sure about this as our child has excelled beyond our expectations- going from scrawling her name at years beginning to reading nearly anything in front of her and looking for math problems to solve in 6 months.
Posted: March 1, 2019
I am unsure if this is even an issue here. The children are well above the norm.

This is one of the absolute best elementary schools in Charleston County, public or private. We have been amazing by the teachers dedication to the children and the level of learning. The principle is amazing and the children LOVE him! Highly recommend!

If you are black run away, It is racist school.

I feel this could definitely be improved upon. Communication is lacking between admin and teachers, policies are not enforced. Need more positive leadership, it comes off as if the teachers run the school.

Not a school policy, just individual teacher policies.

We have been pleased. There is definitely some difference in opinions between teachers and administration and that shows. Front office is a bit abrasive with parents and kids, I do wish that there was a more welcoming atmosphere. PTA does a lot with the school and provides a lot for the school. There were many events they held this year that brought the school community together and I hope that continues.

Positives are that the PTA works hard to deliver what the school needs and parents and teachers want. Also, the majority of teachers are good at what they do.
Negatives are if your child doesn't fit the "mold" don't expect to met with open arms. Children are meant to be seen and not heard and must conform.
The administration is lacking in presence and you are made to feel un welcome and a bother as a parent.

My daughter is in her 6th year at Stiles Point and has had an amazing experience there both socially and academically! She has been in the gifted and talented program since 3rd grade and just started the strings program this year which she loves. The teachers have ALL been the best of the best and the principal Mr. Ard is hands down the best in his field!

Young kids get too much homework, in my opinion, but I think that's a nationwide problem.
Posted: March 7, 2016
I'm pleased with the anti-bullying and anti-clique measures the school takes. I don't hear much about hurt feelings or gossip. The teachers seem to have a good handle on social dynamics.

My daughter has been at Stiles Point for 4 years, and every year I have been so pleased with her experience. The teachers and staff are amazing, and it seems to just keep getting better and better! I picked Stiles Point before we picked our house (we moved to Charleston 5 years ago), and the school has exceeded my expectations.

Stiles Point is a wonderful neighborhood school where the children are safe, well cared for, nurtured, and taught using creative, hands-on methods by the teachers. The school has a warm and welcoming feeling and everyone from the office staff, teachers, day porter, and principal are very friendly. I am impressed by the student work displayed in the halls and the fact that all students always appear to be actively engaged in the classrooms. Stiles Point reminds me of the elementary school I attended as a child. Wonderful school!
