Amazing school. Embraces outdoors, costal environment, enrichment, student interest clubs, amazing programs such as green heart and two science labs! This school is very organized and has a really strong admin dedicated to keeping the school safe and keeping the entire environment fun, happy, and positive! The teachers want to be there, the kids walk in smiling, and the principal goes above and beyond for the entire school community. She trusts the staff, there isnt a place with more caring and happy, experienced and motivated teachers! These are LUCKY kids! I am happy to know SIES provides a safe place for children of all abilities to express their interests, and have opportunities to problem solve, work within nature, and have the opportunity to make huge learning gains in every single classroom! The school radiates with sunshine and light as well as success on the inside and out- the kids walk in smiling, and they leave smiling. They are genuinely excited about their learning! We love this island school!

My son is a second year student at SIES. We have been very happy with our childs experience at SIES and are excited to have our other children attend SIES when they are older. Teachers are supportive, as is the administrative staff, including Principal King. School drop off is a mess and staff seems more interested in marking kids tardy than marking the line move more quickly, which is irritating. Our only other issue has been a lack of response from the school counselor, who weve spoken to once at the direction of the principal, but otherwise hasnt responded to emails. Otherwise, great school!

This school would be great if not for the principal. Susan King has to be the most incompetent person I have ever come across. Completely useless. She comes up with the most ridiculous rules, and good luck if you ever need to meet with her or have a concern because she has absolutely no communication with parents.

There is no way for one person to determine what another person/student develops in terms of honesty, integrity, and fairness.

Poor parent/teacher communication; No Parent Portal(but all other elementary schools in SC have it)-fishy. Good luck meeting with the Principal should you have an issue. And if you get her, She won't help you anyway.

I could not ask for a better school, staff or administration. I have 2 children, one with some special needs who is behind and one with some special needs who way ahead. Mrs. I (4th grade) is an amazing teacher, she uses her own free time to help me help my daughter. She is patient, organized, giving and just a blessing to have teaching my little girl. Mrs. W (1st grade) is a fantastic teacher who uses the most creative ways to get my sons attention. She has a gift for getting the most distracted child to focus and we are blessed to have her teaching our little boy. The front office is run by the most friendly and competent woman, whenever I call I can get the help I need. The principal is a woman who is also available any time to help and she really cares about each child. EVERY person in this school cares about each child, each parent and the school as a whole. I've even had a chance to work with the librarian a bit and she is fantastic as well. SIES motivates the children their to achieve their potential. I feel blessed and thankful to have the gift of sending my children to this phenomenal Magnet School. Thank you everyone at SIES for all you do!
