Ashley Ridge is a great high school. Brooke Mathews, the Principal, has great leadership skills and manages her team very well. We have been very happy with the education our daughter has received.

Worst school ever. They dont return calls. There idea of teaching is having your child walk into the class and then the teacher tells them to open laptop and follow along with a pre determined course. This is not teaching its proctoring. They have lockdowns every other week because of violence or threats of violence. Poor communication unless your child is on a sports team.

The turnover of teachers since the school opened is alarming. It seems all the great teachers left or were bullied by the principal!
Posted: November 14, 2018
It tries to build character but lack of discipline destroys the effectiveness
Posted: November 14, 2018
The principal is extremely rude and prejudiced. Does not communicate with parents, students, or teachers unless they are her friends or in her inner circle. Assistant Principals constantly leave because she wont let them do tgeur job or try to make the place better

My friend was being bullied for a month & they told the teachers, guidance, AND admin... nothing was done at all. Then my friend was attacked so they fought back. Even they pleaded for help for weeks, because they defended themselves in a fight they were suspended for a week

Terrible. Ashley Ridge was great when it opened but has sucked after the first 2 years & continues to get worse

10 out of 10. Very pleased with the education and support my child received.

3-4 hours of HOMEWORK each night...not study time...but actual busy work! Don't expect to have family time because homework extends to the weekends also!

This is our third child through this school in ten years, the teachers this year are BAD...BAD...BAD! They are rude, uncaring, and create stressful classroom environments. They do NOT return parent (or student) emails unless you CC or BC the MAIN principal NOT an assistant. They are not teaching the students what they need to be successful, create a dictatorship type environment and give homework and expect the students to learn independently at home.

Total opposite. The teachers scream and yell in the classroom, call students names, make them cry and create toxic situations. One even had the nerve to tell the students, "tell your parents not to email or call me because I will not respond to them". I personally have heard teachers gossiping in the hallway outside the main office about students and other teachers/administration on THREE occasions while picking my child up for appointments. With this type of behavior I do not want my child following their example!

Terrible...the principal has not changed since our first child attended the first year AR opened, but the assistant turnover IS VERY HIGH! They just keep getting worse year after year, this year it is useless to even pay them, they DO NOTHING to help these students even after you beg and plead for your child.

Our youngest child has a medical diagnosis from THREE doctors. We have begged, pleaded and bargained for help. Had 504 meetings, only for THE TEACHERS to tell us nothing is wrong with our child and the administration DOES NOTHING to follow the LAW! The administration allows teachers to undermined a medical doctors diagnosis, so don't expect help for your child if they have any type of learning difference that doesn't classify them as special needs.

What joke....read the local papers to see what is really going on over there!

By far the worst experience we have had in our 20+ years of raising children. We have progressively watched this school go downhill for several years. It has hit rock bottom and we will not allow our child to get sucked down with it. We are changing to a different school within the district or doing online school until the district does something to address the ongoing issues at Ashley Ridge.

Apparently, the school wants no parental involvement since they cannot find time to return phone calls from parents.

I have left 5 messages so far and phoned more times than that just to get a counselor to speak with me about my son's grades and attendance; I have received no response.

I am a sophomore at Ashley Ridge and I have to say out of the MANY schools I have been to in SC this is the best one. All of the staff members are very kind and the principals are strict. It's a great learning environment and there are plenty of opportunities for extra help and tutoring. ARHS is like a home away from home for me and just about every other student. Everyone at Ashley Ridge is very proud to call themself a swamp fox. We ARe AR!

I got a 14 year teen and he so happy with his new High school The teacher a and principal are excelente

We moved so my children could attend ARHS because of the quality of the education due to their excellent caring staff and strict principal. The school has created an excellent environment that allows students to accomplish their goals and teachers the authority to educate. Students are held to a high standard in both education and behavior. Graduating Seniors are prepared for college.

I am currently a 10th grader at Ashley Ridge High School. The 2012-2013 schol year was a bit tough for me. I had failing grades and I really couldn't understand what was veing taught. When I recieved my report card I was upset but when I went to my teachers to talk about my grades they were more than happy to help me out. I went in everyday during lunch for extra help and then I began to turn assignments in on time and actually started passing with GREAT grades. All in all the teachers at AR are wonderful. Here at AR it's like one big family. The principals are strict but absolutely fair. It's a wonderful learning environment and we did WIN Palmetto's Finest! I'm proud to call myself a Swamp Fox! We ARe AR!

I am very picky about where my children go to school and the education that they receive. We moved from Washington state which has very tough schools and Ashley Ridge rates equal with the education my children received in Washington. The staff is excellent and caring and the principal strict but fair. My daughter has been there 2 years and loves it. I highly recommend this school to a high school student and their parents.
