The administrative staff in this school are aggressively incompetent. During fact & fees day, where required documents are supposed to be presented and fees paid, we were turned away with documents in hand and told the single person who handles documents was in a meeting and would call back later. That call never came and this event was only a week out before the 1st day of school. After calling and leaving voicemails (which went unanswered) we physically went to the school again on Monday (school starts on Wednesday), once again they would not make copies of our physical documents. Instead insisting that we email documents with personal information (birth certificates, etc). I struggle to believe that such poor data security practices are district policy and must be the ignorance or incompetence of the administrative staff. The idea that people with physical documents in hand were turned away and told to email them 2 days before the school year begins is almost unbelievable.

Useless because they are not available to parents who are concerned about the student. When you ask for more information either its no response or they give you have the information that you are requesting.

I have not seen the student do any homework or had BOOKS to even do homework. How are they able to study ahead? if you are going computer base at least have all the work on a computer base program such as Blackboard. Instead the student pulled up this program and only 1 teacher had assignments on the program and she was the ONLY teacher that was compliant.

No because they are robbing the students and parents of the resources that are needed to receive the best education. They are not being honest with themselves and the curriculum is not up to par.

As a tutor/mentor the staff made it very hard to find information about the student schedules and more information about the students progress. I felt as if they are just allowing the students to do bare minimal . In other terms " Passing them alone so then once they are done its not the school problem" The majority of students are not prepared for college. New students that transfer to the school are not assisted by guidance counselors to deal with separation and personality disorders. I asked my student how can we prepare for class when you have "NO BOOKS". I was told you cant... After visiting the school I found out that majority of the courses are online. Hmm... In order to help my student I need a syllabus of the work and a book or guide. Instead, I was told that I have to depend on the student to get the book from a teacher. How can I depend on the student when the main reason I need the book is because the student is not complying. So in other words I guess I will have no book. I was told I can contact the students teachers via email. Well all of them did not respond except for one. Hmm. Useless!!! I am very upset and it feels as if the school is setting the students up for FAILURE!!! All I want to do is help my students out but your making it impossible to do so when your website is USELESS AND YOUR STAFF!!!

We have had a very positive experience at FDHS. The tennis program is great. We love the Wescott community.

FDHS has allowed for violence and fighting to become the norm. Due to the location of the school the diversity of the students is not taken into consideration. You have a high % of students with no support at home concerning their education or behavioral issues and the minority of students with an excellent support system. This diversity is not handled well by the Administration. New Administration with fresh eyes is needed to re-structure how this school functions. A lot a potential is falling by the way side. (both students & teachers)

Fort Dorchester is one of the best schools around!!! The teachers are actually helpful and make class enjoyable to learn. Sure it may be a little crowded in the halls, but thats the sacrifice for going to suchja great school!!!!

Fort Dorchester may be slightly overcrowded and uncomfortable, but after about the first month everyone seems to learn their way around the hallways. The academic programs that FDHS offers are highly advanced and in some cases can even count as a free college credit. Such programs in the AP and IB programs, along with Honors. Although violence, fighting, is a some what normal occurance, the administration deals with the students accordingly. Fort has many positive programs such as academic awards, pep rallies, homecoming, and patriot pride referrals. Although Fort can be a somewhat tough school to adjust to if coming from a small school or private school, the faculty and staff are a generous group of people that want to help students succeed.

A high school that shows more than 25 full length movies, such as GI Joe, Transformers and Gladiator has to be asked how serious they are about educating the students of their school. Teachers that routinely scream at them and call them idiots and have melt downs in the class is not my idea of educating our future generations.

Fort Dorchester isn't a bad school at all. It's a normal school compared to charleston county school So what if the teachers aren't the best but they try there hardest to teach. It's just hard for them to teach when there is rowdy students. Principals don't do there job to stop the rowdy kids so the teachers don't teach. It's nobody fault but there own. I love FDHS:)
