This evening we had a game against camp road middle and I have to say, the players and children attending this game and school had the absolute WORST sportsmanship I have ever witnessed. The way the children heckled all players during the entire game and rude things they said to the other players was just plain uncalled for. Or was apparent that this sort of behavior is supported by the parents coaches and school and was really disappointing and sad to see. I feel sorry for younger children attending any games there as they will witness just ignorance and be discourage from wanting to even play sports. Im positive more parents will be reaching out with the same concerns.

CRMS provides a welcoming community to ALL middle school students on James Island. Teachers and staff take the time to know each student, help them to feel seen & heard, and provide respectful and thoughtful communication with parents and caregivers. Graduating scholars are prepared for the high school experience and transition with confidence and the academic skills necessary to be successful in high school and beyond.

My sons experience at the school is phenomenal. He is challenged, learning high school level concepts, and enjoys opportunities such as band and school sports. Principal Sayer has done a wonderful job already and teachers are excellent. The school has exceeded my expectations.

My child has been happy and with her middle school experience so far! We love the staff. Free after school tutoring, clear communication, ways to be involved if you so choose, positive peer experiences. Overall excited my child gets to attend a great neighborhood school and have exceptional class choices with qualified teachers.

We have had two children go through camp
Road so far, one is a sophomore now and the other is in 8th grade. We have nothing but great things to say about this school. From the principal, to the teachers, to the admin staff, all have been beyond accommodating and supportive.

Camp Road has been a fantastic middle school for my two boys. The teachers respond to emails, have regular communication with parents, and provide high quality instruction for their subjects. My boys have both participated in the band program and I can't say loud enough that Ms. Spitzer is phenomenal. Principal Virginia Sayer has been absolutely astounding this year. She is involved and present in the school and supportive of the school community. It's apparent that her focus is on excellent instruction while leading with structure and creating a healthy school climate. Camp Road has an excellent combination of high expectations for academics while also focusing on other events to create high student morale. It's truly been an awesome experience.

I have been a parent at CRMS for 5 years now, and still have one more child to attend in the near future. The teachers, guidance and admin are absolutely the best. My 8th grader is presently taking three high school classes this year at the school (not virtually) and took one last year as a 7th grader. CRMS has a great music program with a spring trip every year with the opportunity to compete. CRMS also has a fantastic relationship with JICHS, which gives many of athletic opportunities for our kids.
Big shout out to our Excellent Principal Sayer.

Im a student at this school and their is so many kids who do drugs it is crazy, a 6 th grader got into a fight with an 8 th grade girl and he did not get in trouble at all. The principal is bad she does not care about this school and does not care about the students

Bad environment. We have to earn passes for the restrooms. I get why but there should be a different way of enforcing what the bathroom is for. Bullying situations only get worse and students' voices are not heardpublic humiliation towards students. A lot of these situations can be handled on a private matter but these situations happen in front of classes which results in an increase of bullying and mental health problems. Teachers and staff are not on the same page when it comes to the students. There is only one set standard that all kids must learn from. Kids learn differently. Overall, this school needs a lot of work!

I am currently attending this school and I have very mixed feelings about it. I am going to start with the good. The majority of the teachers are fantastic. Other students may disagree with this, but as long as you behave, do your work, and are kind, the teachers will be perfectly nice to you. Another positive, and one of the only reasons I like this school, is the band program. My musical knowledge has grown from nothing to plentiful in just a matter of three years. The band director is amazing, he is a wonderful teacher and person, and even won the CRMS teacher of the year! In addition to the band, I have also participated in the chorus program. The director there is great as well. Now to the negatives...This year we have had multiple major issues including, fights, disciplinary problems, and drug-related incidents. The school has a new principal this year and while I have seen her do some very beneficial things for the school, she has also struggled with parent communication and running the school in general. Don't get me wrong, she is very kind and isn't by any means horrible, she just is not the best. In addition to this, we have had a multitude of bullying issues in all three grades, although there was a recently implemented wellness room for students and teachers to take a break from the stress of the day and go chill out for a bit. The wellness room has proved to be beneficial in helping the mental health of students. Relating to safety, the school is mediocre at making the students feel safe. A few of my friends have told me that when they arrive at school, they do not feel entirely safe. While there is an SRO, the school still does not feel entirely like a place kids want to be. Overall, CRMS is fine. There are definitely positives, but there are also many negatives. I would not recommend it as a first chocie.

As someone who went to this school it sucks. if you want to get on any sport teams you have to be white if not then you better be the best to have a chance. ive never seen physical bullying though. if u are neurodivergent (and especially a poc neurodivergent) i dont recommend. theres a lot of racism, sexism, ableism and homophobia. it sucks.

As a former student, this school rocks. The lack of adult presence taught me about how to stand up for myself and my friends. (If that's what you can call them honestly). But at the end of the day I learned a lot. Haha sike. I learned nothing from this disappointment of a 'school'. The amount of racism, sexism and bullying that happened here is uncountable. But I made a amount of friends that I can't even count. If you knew how to stand up for yourself and knew who to talk to, you can generally have a great experience.

Most of the teachers are excellent. I do question the choice of the computer teacher. We were informed at one point that she wasn't able to open the online teaching materials, so the class instruction was behind schedule.

Our child has ADD and saw no resources unless we wanted to place her in special ed. Separating her from her peers. This school focuses and rewards neurotypical students with high test scores. Doing things like only letting high performers choose from the full offering of electives and allowing them to attend additional fun activities. Our child was not allowed to take French classes because her test scores did not qualify her to select from the full range of electives EVEN though she had taken French in a previous school for four years. We petitioned the school and encouraged them to consider changing their discriminatory policies to no avail. She was forced into a very limited offering like P.E. and the Computer Class. These actions resulted in her having very low confidence in herself and zero confidence in school administrators.

Our child was being bullied and unless she named names they were unable to provide support. Understandable, we wanted to create a peer-to-peer support group. There were a few very effective meetings, but it was disbanded due to resources. Feeling is that with the schools support we could have worked together to have provided support for these at risk children. It was not a priority to them. They focus on kids that are already safe and performing.
