My sons went here and we had nothing but issues. One of my children almost died in their care and they didn’t even issue an apology or check on him for two weeks. My other child was suspended after being assaulted even though the video shows he didn’t start the fight. If you can don’t send your kids here!!

Well as for our house and my kids I give this school an A- I love our teacher.

My child had an IEP and the amount of homework he had, along with reading each night, was difficult to keep up with.

My son attended this school for 2 years, and while the teachers were kind, the amount of time he was required to sit, do worksheets, read, listen, etc without any time to decompress seemed uneffective for many students.

They simply told my son he was overly sensitive when called racial slurs (he is white/Hispanic) by others not the same race as him. I had a meeting with the teachers and was told he simply was too sensitive when being teased.

My son was having difficulty with a child at school and was taken to the office on multiple occassions. NOT A SINGLE ADMIN contacted me until it was too late. I left a voice mail about having a meeting, but it was never returned.

They pulled his IEP and denied him a 504 on multiple occassions. However, he does qualify for it. Actually, I found out later that they then marked his file as having a 504 so they wouldn't get flagged...since it's against the law. However, when they looked into it, there is no 504 attached. Deception all time high here.

When our son was crying about being tease for his hair color, skin color, birth mark, being called stupid, having his parents called names, mocked for being adopted, and so on...we were told he was too sensitve and that was just teasing...not bullying.

Then, when he was being physically bullied, they had him in the office multipl times and never contacted us until they suspended him for defending himself.

Horrific. We eventually pulled him out this year and are exploring other options.

Epes is a solid school. The teachers are committed and the students enjoy learning. The new principal has brought high expectations and new programs. Look for yourself.

My twin boys were bullied a lot in 2nd and 3rd grade we have gone to the principles and nothing was done. I think Epes is a horrible school! I cannot wait until we move so they will no longer have to go to this horrible School ! The front desk staff always gives us trouble and harassing us whenever we come in.

My daughter attended Kindergarten there I can't speak for all the teachers but the kindergarten teacher she has was very impatient intolerant which is insane because her class was filled with. 4 and 5 year olds. She didn't keep a watchful eye either because every other week I had to let her know of isses my child and other children had. My daughter learned why she needed but was not challenged. I will say I enjoyed the extras they had like pizza parties and educational field trips which always included parents.

My son attended Epes for kindergarden and 1st grade and I must say that I miss this school. The teachers were awesome and worked hard to make sure their students learned, Out of all the teachers that my son has had, I remember the teachers at Epes the most. There was no favoritism shown to any student and the principle is always seen working throughout the school and engaging in what the teachers and students where doing. The office staff are so friendly and the school itself is very clean and well maintained on the inside. There is always a PTA table at every event and they make everyone feel welcomed to join. Excellent school, can't say enough about it,

This is my grandson's first year at Epes as a Kindergartener. I have been very pleased with his progress, both academically and socially. He loves his teacher and assistant, and looks forward to going to school every day. As an observer of the teachers and staff at Epes, I see people who are caring and friendly, as well as supportive of parent involvement. Students appear orderly and respectful. As a retired educator from NNPS, I know that the success of a school depends on everyone! The more involved parents are in their child's education, the more successful the learning experiences will be.

We are a military family and we have seen our fair share of schools during my husbands 17 year career. I have to say that Epes takes the cake for the worst. I am not going to label all teachers but I can say that my daughters teacher who has somehow managed to teach for 30+ years is one of the most impatient, non-understanding, and rude people I have met. She calls the children out in front of the class, reads the agenda (notes from parents) in front of the class, curses in class. I have spoke to the principle and she is not concerned or involved whatsoever. She was suppose to return a call a few times and never did. They do not seem to care about the children or parents concerns at all. If teachers no longer enjoy teaching then get out of it ... *WAITING ON SUPERMAN IN NEWPORT NEWS VA*
