My daughter and I absolutely love NPES. The faculty are engaging, authentic, and provide the utmost nurturing environment for the students. My daughter has had amazing kindergarten, first grade, and second grade teachers. Family engagement nights, spirit weeks, and field trips are well thought out and interactive.

Overall, one of the best schools in the area.

My handicapped son was suddenly transferred to a nearby school on the day the new semester started. The reason is because there are many students. In that case, I wanted to go to a nearby school from the beginning. My son was confused about the new school and didn't want to go. We were also suddenly told that we were transferring schools, and we were in a lot of trouble because we were in a hurry to prepare. I was grateful for the many things he did for my son while he was attending school, but I was disappointed with this incident. The school did not listen to the opinions of students and parents, and did not consult or contact them.

Was a great school when my granddaughter went but I've heard that for some reason the principal and assistant don't have much control or care about the wellbeing of other students while letting bullies and thugs do what they want, i would move before I let another grandchild go there, this is not hear say, I heard from several parents

We have had a fantastic experience for K and 1st grade. Virtual learning has been tough but they are doing their best. When my son was in the school he thrived and enjoyed it very much. I love the small atmosphere.

Have no patience and group children together as if they all learn the same.

Noticed many teachers have picks especially if in friend groups.

I have had experience with this school over 10 years and as time goes on the staff changes and quality changes cannot wait til i am done with this school.

With the hours for school busses being late children getting home expect children to do homework that is graded like test and not very cohesive.

Extremely terrible and highly unrecommended. Definitely a 1 out of 10 or if possible a 0 out of 10.

Posted: July 11, 2018

Because they do not teach the material in class and fall inconceivably short of the state standard.

Posted: July 11, 2018

Because they do not teach the material in class and favor certain races over others.

Posted: July 11, 2018

This school promotes extreme violence and disrespect toward teachers and parents because they allow students to get harassed daily.

Posted: July 11, 2018

The leaders in this school favor certain races over others.

Posted: July 11, 2018

This school provides zero help for the students with learning disabilities and neglects them and allows them to be harassed by the extremely violent students.

I love that homework is given on Monday and is due on Friday. If you do a little each night (20 minutes) like you are supposed to, it is no big deal at all.

Office staff is very friendly and my son's first grade teacher, Mrs. Jefferson, is an excellent teacher. My son really enjoys being there.

The school rewards honesty and fairness by positive reinforcement. For example, they have a "board" where kids names are listed for good deeds and honest actions suchas returning lost money or helping a new student.

I normally don't write reviews but I felt the need to express my opinion in light of the low rating. My kids love this school. They come home each day with something new they were taught. My daughter has been a student for three years and has received a wonderful education. Each of her teachers have been kind and willing to go the extra mile to help her learn. I would highly recommend this school.

We have two daughters who attended Nansemond Parkway Elementary School for the first time last year, and although we had our doubts (the school could definately use some remodeling), you can't judge a book by its cover. We were pleasantly surprised by the overall kindness and support we recieved from the teachers and staff and the multiple fun after school programs and workshops that the school hosted. I also volunteered numerous times at the school and can say that Nansemond Parkway definately has a friendly atmosphere and my kids can't wait to go back this year.
