My daughters seem to really like their teachers. However my 5th graders teacher do not listen to advice on how my daughter learns nor are they any good at communication. This school seems to have a real bad bullying problem which the staff fails to handle. After being physically assaulted the first time my oldest was suspended for defending herself which as made both my daughters not want to defend themselves when being assaulted by the other children. I have yet to hear back about my youngest being assaulted on the playground. The music teacher punished all the kids by making them place their heads on the floor, just because two kids were talking. The principal again has yet to reach out about this.

This school is by far an enriching school that offers a wide variety of opportunities to all of its students. The administration looks for ways to have children excel beyond what they may believe they are capable of. They offer before and after school care for working parents. Military families are not forgotten and are welcomed with open arms. Plenty of ways for children and parents alike to teach, engage, and provide guidance to children as a way to enlighten them on what its like to be a professional when they grow up. Any issues are handled interdependently and professionally.

Horrible new principal this year that just doesn’t care about the students. It’s sad to see how down all the kids and even the teachers and staff are. Complete change for the worst.

The school is a nice size (not too large), its focus on the arts is wonderful, and the students are lovely, but I cannot say anything else positive about it. We have had challenging experiences with teachers and administrators. Communication between school and home is minimal. The IEP process has been reduced to a legal box checking exercise and is more akin to theater than an actual attempt to serve disabled students. I would not recommend this school.

I am thankful that my daughter is able to attend Waller Mill Elementary School. The teachers and administration truly care about their students. I appreciate the fine arts opportunities my daughter is getting as she explores various kinds of arts. Keep up the great work, Waller Mill staff.

This year has not been the best experience for our child. The Administrators and teachers that we have had dealings with this year have been unprofessional in the manner in which they have dealt with issues regarding our child. The overall school is beautiful and well maintained. Very disappointed in the lack of communication We receive compared to other schools.

As a former part-time employee there I experienced nothing but appreciation and encouragement from the entire staff. When I had to leave for personal reasons, the staff gave me a picture of one of our assemblies. It's now hanging in my office where I fondly (and frequently) reflect on my time with the students and staff. I go back for visits as often as I am able. Very professional and friendly -- what a great combination!

LOVE this school. We moved from Virginia Beach to Williamsburg when my son was entering 1st grade. He started off reading FAR below grade level (thanks VB for completely missing that fact and never letting us know!) and by the end of 1st grade was caught up. Now, halfway through 2nd grade he's reading at a 3rd grade level and continuing to improve. This is all thanks to his 1st grade teacher catching the issue and getting him the extra help he needed. We worked hard for it, don't get me wrong, extra help, tutoring, practice, practice, practice - my son put in SO much effort on his part as well. BUT I can't help but to think of where we'd be without Waller Mill. The minute we walked in for a tour it was apparent that this was exactly where we were meant to be. The teachers and administration are amazing. They love these kids and they teach kindness and empathy. They foster creativity and make learning fun. My son looks forward to going to school each day, he's disappointed about a SNOW DAY even. I've said it over and over, I couldn't pay to send my son to a better private school. The quality of education not only academically but socially and emotionally at Waller Mill is brilliant. We LOVE Waller Mill, my only grievance is we didn't move here before kindergarten!

I am in LOVE with this school. My youngest has attended for the past 3 years - next year will be her final year in 5th grade and we will miss it so much. The teachers, staff and principal are all wonderfully loving and caring to all of the students - and you can feel it as soon as you step inside the school. My daughter is very creative and this school encourages creativity and uniqueness. I cant say enough about how great I think this school is.
