Do yourself and your children a favor and find a different school. You are literally paying private school tuition and getting public school education and experience. My kids spent 1.5 years here and it was AWFUL. I cannot fully express how horrible the administration is and how unqualified any of them are to be leaders.

I have two daughters who graduated from West End Christian School. My youngest called from college last week to thank me for sending her to WECS. She said she was more than prepared for the work load and studying required. It made my heart soar. Her teachers poured into my daughter and pushed her to be her best. I highly recommend this school.

I would highly recommend West End Christian!! Students are very loved by the teachers and are given wonderful instruction. As a parent, I definitely recommend this school for anyone looking for a strong academic, Christian education for their child!

I would not recommend this school for people going into middle/high school. The classes are extremely limited, and it feels like there is a lot of favoritism in this school.

This school has a terrible amount of favoritism I myself witnessed it. I hear this school was good many years ago but while attending this school for two years I can say that this school is no longer what it was and do NOT recommend letting your child attend this school especially if in middle or high school.

April, 5, 2021 I gave this school one star, just so I could write about the event that happened that has effected my life for 40 years now. I would not recomend this school at all. For kindegarden through 3rd grade it seemed decent. But in 4th grade, on April 4th, 1981, the music teacher had my class in the school's church practicing for a musical Easter program. She had the entire class all on one stand, and I was the first on the left side of the bottom row. We were singing when I suddenly heard a noise behind me. I instinctivily turned my head to see what was happening, when all of a sudden, half of my 4th grade class fell on top of me, making me slam the Left Side of my Head down onto the floor of the church. That knocked me unconscious, instantly. When I came too, the music teacher was literally screaming into my right ear to see if I was alright. My senses slowly came back, but when I got my sense of Touch back, I instantly felt ENORMOUS PAIN in front of my left ear. Also, I could literally FEAL small SHOCKS going back and forth, INSIDE MY BRAIN. At first the teacher wouldn't let me go to the school's office for help. When she FINALLY DID, going to the office was NO HELP AT ALL. The secretary just had me sit in a chair, and gave me a bag of ice to hold against the bump on my Head. She picked up the phone, had the receiver against her left ear, and her right index finger ready to dial my home phone number to tell my Mom what had happened. When ALL OF A SUDDEN, she lifted up her finger, stared at the wall, and then looked over at me and said "You know, your Mom's probably out shopping, so I'll try later." She hung up the phone and went back to work. They had me finish the school day. My Mom, who is a retired nurse, came to pick me up. She instantly saw the bump on my Head and told me to get in the car. She went and told the people in the office that she wanted to keep me home the next day. That following morning I had my first EPILEPTIC SEIZURE. I was later diagnosed with Epilepsy and put on medication. Later in 6th grade the school saw me have a seizure. The only person in the entire school who didn't become terified of me after that was the Social Studies teacher, who's daughter had Epilepsy. After that year, my Mom switched me to another school were no one was afraid of me. I just wanted to put this down because I'm still having seizures, been on medications, had 2 types of Neurosurgery and still no success.

Leadership can only be effective if the parents follow through at home. I have seen that quite a few parents expect the school staff to not only teach, but raise their children. Parents need to step up.

Both if my children graduated from WECS. They both got into the college of there choice. They were prepared for the world. Wonderful, godly teacher who are concerned for their students well being. In the last 3-4 years the school has improved greatly. They have a new coach who has big plans to increase the sports program. My grandchild now attends the school. There is no doubt in my mind that he will also be well prepared to do great things upon graduating.

The days work is re-enforced with the homework and helps students retain what they did previously.

They really care about the student and them succeeding. They even tutor free after school if needed.

The teachers and leadership in the school work hard to present these characteristics and instill them in the students. It is up to the student to develop these in their own lives. A teacher can only do their best then it is up to the student to do their part.

Absolutely not tolerated. With that being said, the "school" can not stop something they are not made aware of. Sometimes a student will tell their parents but not the teachers or Principal. It has to be made known in order to stop it.

I have been associated with this school fro 12 years and I highly recommend it. NO, there are no perfect schools in this entire world but, they are doing a wonderful job.

The teachers at the school really care about their students and will stay after school to help the students. They work closely with parents and students to help the child learn.

Smaller classes, great teachers. Teachers really care about the students. My daughter was bullied at her other high school, but here, she is welcomed by the other students. She even went out for the basketball team this year. She has to work harder at this school to get good grades, but the teachers are there to help all students. She enjoys going to school and she has made new friends. I am glad we put her in the school. I really like the idea of uniforms. Khaki or blue pants, skirts and polo shirts make the students look nice. I would recommend this school to all parents.

Thanks to the combination of guidance received at West End Christian School and our support as parents we have a daughter that has the opportunity to do well in todays world. In the ten years she has been there as a student our day has never started with hearing that I do not want to go to school. When we pick her up after school she comes home with the same positive feeling. The interest in her academic gains and the advancement of her faith can be seen in the efforts of the staff. At times when when she needed help her teachers made time available even after school and gave her the confidence to do well. Do your homework and ask any parent with a child that has been there in recent years and you find a common satisfaction. Give your child the chance to be a successful student and person that can contribute to the world outside the class room by enrolling them at West End Christian School.

I graduated from this school and I am a adult now with a career and family. I can tell those reading this I had to take several courses through correspondence classes because West End did not have the staff to teach the subjects needed to graduate. I struggled and there was not a abundance of options for additional help or tutoring. The enrollment is expensive plus there are additional fees, no bus service, etc. If you are willing to pay for a private school for your child, go check out the larger schools. There are very limited extra curricular activities and sports here. They are just too small and don't have the funding. You get what you pay for so if you choose this school because it may be lower priced than other private schools, your child will pay a different price. I can also tell you that although it is supposed to be non-denominational, when I attended, I was shown anti-Mormon and anti-Jehovah Witness films on Chapel days and it was widely known here, not all Christian denominations were accepted here. This is fact. I have no personal interest or gain by writing this. I have graduated from here and moved on but it was a struggle that I wish upon no other kid.

I have been going to this school for three years now and I love it. The teachers are great and want to help you as much as possible. Though we have minimum activities for the high school levels, the school tries their best, I know. The small classrooms let the students get more attention from the teachers. The teachers are funny and amazing!!!!!!! Oh, and the food is great. What's not to love?

I have three children enrolled at WECS in the elementary school and pre-k programs. It is a small, Christian school and the tuition is very reasonable. For children in their Pre-K and Kindergarten program you would be hard pressed to find a similar program at that price. The teachers genuinely care about the children and are very kind to them. Academically, it provides a sound education for the elementary and middle school children, I can't personally speak to high school. Compared to similar schools in the area, I think it is excellent. There are fancier schools in the Richmond area with more extracurricular options and fancier buildings and equipment but they cost at least twice as much. If you are looking for a good, safe place to send your children for a quality education then WECS is a good option. There is definitely room for more parental involvement, so I hope more parents will choose to get involved.

High school is mediocre in extracurricular activities. They also have a very poor guidance program that does not help students who are trying to get into college. This school is money hungry, and caters to those students whose parents give a little extra money to the school. The teachers are good which is the only reason that I will give this a two star rating.

I attended West End many years ago and I loved it, but the West End of years ago is no longer the same school. I am sadly dissappointed at what I have experienced recently in dealing with this school. They do NOT treat each student equally.........there is favoritism, unfairness, and unchristian ways of handling situations......unfortunately at the expense of the "unfavored" student. Thankfully, I am a Christian and I know that God knows the truth in every "situation", and I have given it up to Him . I can no longer recommend this school!! G

Out children have been attending West End Christian School for the past several years. It is a wonderful school, with great leadership, teachers and friendly staff. The teachers emphasize getting the know the children on an individual basis and working with them on their strengths and weaknesses.

WECS has re-structured itself over the years bringing it to a point of offering a qualified, caring, and positive environment for our children. This is our second year at WECS and it has only progressed in a positive, family-friendly environment offering the ability to meet the individual needs of the children, small class sizes and teachers who take time to work with each student and maintain a positive and open line of communication with the parents. They have implemented a foreign language class for students to include elementary grades, several learning techniques which offer a way of learning for all students, and several extra-curricular classes/after-school programs. The school offers a large variety of field trips to coincide with the lessons being taught and to make learning a fun and enjoyable task, instead of a more mundane approach. We've been very pleased with WECS and encourage anyone to stop by and take a look for themselves. The teachers and staff are very approachable; they care about their students and offer a good education for students. There is a lot of family involvement in the school which only betters the education and well-being of the students.

I sent my daughter to WECS school last year and she is going back again this year. West End has many things to offer students; variety of sports, small classroom sizes and teachers that genuinely care about the children. In previous years, I sent my daughter to another christian school that was over twice as expensive, they did not offer any sports, no after school care and I felt she was very suppressed. My daughter has really stepped into her element and flourished in this loving community. She is getting good grades, playing sports, having a blast with her new friends and most importantly she is also learning about Jesus Christ! I feel the classroom sizes have given her the opportunity to get more individualized attention and have the teacher really understand her strengths and weaknesses. I would recommend this school to anybody and with the great prices it is hard to find a reason why you should not be sending your child here!

I do not feel this school is money hungry at all since their tuition is half the cost of previous years. The quality of the academic course material and the teachers is above other local private schools. Their administration with an actual Principal and Vice Principals with Education Degrees and Teaching experience is also a discriminator from other local private schools. Highly recommend sending your child to this school as it is a Christian school and not run by any particular church.

This school has done nothing but go downhill. West End is soooooo money hungry it's crazy. The teachers could care less what is going on with the students. If a student has a problem, they better not go to a teacher..They will only get mad and tell them to go sit down. Yeah! Some great teachers. So go ahead and send your kids there. You will see how crazy that place is.
