We would take our kids to any school in the city over great bridge primary! The principal is the rudest, self absorbed man. He talks over parents and teachers and acts on his own pride. We've seen some great teachers leave the last two years because of him. Our older kids had a great experience here not many years ago. This school should have better leaders here in Great bridge

Our daughter has absolutely loved both of her teachers at this school. The teachers sent out regular communication and endeavor to invite families to support in a number of school activities. Every experience I have had with the staff or administration. This building has been positive.

We do not trust the administration at this school. Nor do our kids feel valued as children.

This is the worst school. They hate parents and dont want them involved at all; I actually believe they hate students too because the lack of enthusiasm. Classes are combined so about 48 kids for two teachers when one is handling problem students the other is left to teach; needless to say your kid wont learn a thing. The principal is never there, completely non existent. The vice principal is great but her hands are tied. There is no parties no happiness no learning. I feel bad for all kids that attend there and all home owners in this district because the school is a burden to our property values. FIRE THE principal, hes awful.

Leadership is only concerned with their own image, not impact on all students or families or what is for the greatest good in the long run. Selfish high dollar arrogance in a suit

Impressed with how they have handled a bullying situation. The teacher and vice principal handled it well.

The teachers and staff really care about the children at this school and want the best for them. It's been a wonderful experience and my child is extremely happy here. Gbp is a loving positive school!

We were told if homework takes more than 20 minutes "we're doing it wrong". It averages two to three times that for a second grader, with no clue as to what we're "doing wrong".

We moved to Chesapeake from a neighboring city specifically to enroll our children in Great Bridge schools due to their good reputation. Though it hasn't exactly been a bad experience, to date we're not impressed. Administration is very rigid and policies feel like they're designed specifically to keep parents out of the school. Particularly at a PRIMARY school, where the children are very young I'm very frustrated at being made to feel unwelcome to participate in my child's school experience. The facility itself is also in need of updating.

Good teachers with average to below average administrators. Leadership changed a year ago. They do not want parental involvement in the school. We were told No when we tried to volunteer in our second graders class as they want them to work independently. Any requests that originate from the parent are strongly resisted. One example..at the parent s night, they were begging people to move their children from AM to PM classes as all of the PM classes had literally half of the students of the AM classes. When we approached the Principal and VP, they were literally dancing that someone would make the switch. Then we said that if we made the switch, we wanted our child in a specific classroom. Immediately countenances changed and we received pushback. Dealings with a specific office staff can be prickly as well. Example..My wife had to get a broken tooth fixed.. It was before school started, so she brought our daughter. The secretary said in a condescending tone that since the appointment was not for the child, it was an unexcused absence. No support from higher up on this issue.
