Peninsula Catholic is a fairly average school, although it advertises itself as much greater than it really is. It has it's fair share of problems like any other school, although this is my personal experience with it. Students are spoken to every year about bullying, but little justice is actually done. There are giant cliques within the school, and if you aren't apart of one of them, then you are an easy target. Often times there are students who don't quite fit in, and they face bullying because of it. Worst of all, these bullies manipulate staff and faculty members into thinking that they are genuine people. They will take someone's slip up, or mistakes, and use it against their victims if the victim ever tells anyone, and faculty is typically more inclined to believe in the bully, considering they are polite and respectful to the employees. This should NOT determine whether someone is deemed a bully or not. Teachers pick favorites, and that is fairly obvious, not to mention how close minded some teachers can be. IF a student does not understand course material, perhaps it is not entirely their fault, sometimes teachers need to take into account that not all students learn the same ways. Drugs and partying are also a problem, and while faculty/staff has little to no jurisdiction outside of school, they should be aware of this, and help to encourage students to make better decisions. Then there is the religious aspect of the school. PC is NOT the religious environment I would want a child of mine to be in, considering I didn't enjoy it either. Students are forced to learn about religion, and while this is a CATHOLIC school, I don't believe that forcing a religious class on students is the best way to go about deepening a students faith. Students who are not particularly religious, or Catholic at the least, tend to be disruptive in these classes, and it stops students - who actually care about Theology - from learning more about their faith. This forced religious practice also turns away potential Catholics, or people just simply looking to have *A* faith. PC is also bias against just about any sport aside from x-country, and focuses a lot of effort into "glorifying" these athletes, and leaving out other potential programs, such as the drama department. There is so much to say about PC, but point being, it has its flaws. It is not as perfect as advertised.

I have only good things to say about PCHS! The academics are rigorous yet the teachers approachable and helpful; the extracurricular activities, from athletics to fine arts, are exceptional and inclusive; and, the school community, from students to staff, is friendly and accepting. There are many ways that parents can be involved, which is encouraged by the teachers and school administration. PCHS is exceptional and worth every penny spent ; which, dollar for dollar is not expensive with the multitude of scholarships and incentives available. We've had children in both public and private schools, and I rank Peninsula Catholic High School well above all the schools in the area.

Peninsula Catholic provides a quality education for an extremely affordable cost. It boasts a 100% college acceptance rate with many students earning college credits from Dual Enrollment classes. The school is on the cutting edge of technology with their 1:1 Chromebook Initiative and the new Long Distance Learning Lab. The fields expansion from a few years ago has enabled the teams to practice and play "in house"

This is the first school I have encountered (in 11 years of parenting school-aged kids ) that takes bullying seriously. If there is an instance of perceived bullying brought to the attention of guidance, it is swiftly researched and dealt with.

Service to others is a part of the culture of PC. Students are required to perform service hours every year, but beyond that-- most kids and their parents are very involved in community outreach, and that attitude seeps into school. This year the school community decided to sponsor a refugee family by furnishing an apartment, providing food, clothes, and school supplies, and welcoming them when they arrived in the U.S. Parents, students, the principal, and faculty all worked together to make this happen.

PC is the "home" I was hoping to find for my child when she started high school. After several moves and school changes, she started at PC and has found a community of great friends, dedicated teachers, and plenty of activities. For me as a parent, the community of involved families here was very welcoming. The success of the students here (over 1/3 of this year's seniors are attending either UVA, William and Mary, or Virginia Tech next fall) and the overall positive experience my child has had so far make me confident that she is in the right place.

This school has offered quality education since 1903. It has a 100% graduation rate as well as a 100% college acceptance rate. The matriculation rate is nearly 100%. PC is a Google Apps for Education High School. The school was the first in the Hampton Roads area to implement the 1:1 Chromebook Initiative with all students. There is a full time chef on staff preparing meals from scratch daily. The curriculum is demanding but prepares the students for college.

Peninsula Catholic is a wonderful school. The teachers and administration really care about the students. The teachers want each student to succeed. There are plenty of extracurricular activities. I like that my son can be involved in multiple sports and not have to train year round just to be on a team. The block schedule (4 classes a day as opposed to A/B days) really keeps things simple and allows students to really focus on subjects. Also, the technology at PC really is amazing. For example, everyone has a chrome book that they are able to use in class. The math classes have the latest computerized programs that provide extra support to students. Finally, PC uses CANVAS as their learning management system - one of the best LMS around - used by colleges and universities. Also, the religious atmosphere provides the backdrop to the whole school - with the emphasis on the shared values of kindness, honesty, integrity, etc. This is a school that any student can succeed in and it provides much more than academics. Can you tell I LOVE this school?!

I have many wonderful experiences with this school. I absolutely love the experience my child is having there. I would give it 5 stars however we had a situation with the guidance councilor in 9th grade that was difficult. It has been resolved but still remains an experience we had

Peninsula Catholic truly prepares kids for the future emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually. The kids, teachers, and staff are top notch! Best private school in Hampton Roads and affordable too.

I would not recommend attending PC, the only good thing about the school is the English department and Cross Country program. Almost all the teachers are close-minded and only choose to teach their opinions. The religion in the school is less focused on spiritual and values and more focused on shoving it down your throat and condemning sinners. It makes most of the students that attend turn away from the faith. The teachers will pick favorites and make those favorites very evident.

PCHS is making great strides to take what has always been a wonderful school and improve it to the SPECTACULAR! Much needed additions to the athletic fields and the recent addition of a 9-10th grade guidance councilor are all outward signs of this tremendous growth. The teachers are warm and actually care about the education and well-being of the students and the Principal is always open and available for parents and students. Last year, my student was given a chromebook and had numerous opportunities to use it in class, opening a world of learning that would not be possible before. I am so proud to call the school home for my children!

this school has been wonderful for our boys. College prep is stressed, but every student feels like they have a say in the high school journey. The school has discipline and actions, enough to give students boundaries, such as hair length, skirt length, honor codes etc.. Active athletic programs keeps kids busy after school as do many after school clubs. A bus comes from Resurrection Church in Portsmouth for help with transportation.

Peninsula Catholic High School is an outstanding school. My son has always struggled in school, but he is doing above average since his move to PC. The teachers make themselves available to help the students succeed. The students love the school...because they have fun! It's not free like public school, but you get what you pay for. Invest in your children's future, they are worth it.

Both of our children attended Peninsula Catholic High School . For us, Peninsula Catholic was kind of a mixed bag. From an academic perspective, I would say that their English program was excellent; their math and science programs, however, were just okay. From a spiritual perspective, PC was disappointing. For the most part, the spiritual emphasis tended to be mostly on teaching the students about religion (rules, memorization of religious facts, etc.) and a lot of spiritual "going through the motions," rather than encouraging students to have a relationship with God and to live their faith. Both of my children were put off by the religious instruction at Peninsula Catholic and turned their backs on Catholicism before they finished at PC. To be fair, there was one religion teacher at PC who really did try to nurture his students' faith, rather than just teach them about "religion". Unfortunately, both of my children were in their last year at PC by the time they had his class, and by that time it was, as they put it, "too late."

Its the school of our choice because it is academically outstanding and for its Catholic 'environment' which produces good men and women. My son has been at this school for two years now and I am happy I made the decision to send him here. The school climate is one that encourages leadership from all students. They are very accepting of individuality. The students are very supportive of each other. I have heard many students and parents as describing the school as feeling like family.

PCHS is one of the most accepting, loving and nurturing environment you will find. All students are accepted for who they are and treated the same. All students are given the same opportunities and chances to succeed. The new principal (principal for 4 years now) is great and the school is growing. With students from all faith denominations represented, PC remains a school rooted deep in Catholicism that offers all its students a stellar education.

We knew we made the right high school choice when our college-aged children came home and thanked us for the education they got at PCHS! They were amazed at how far ahead of their classmates they were in research and writing skills, as well as in science and mathematics!

This school has a horrible mathematics program. Students here should be encouraged to forgo taking math courses here, and take them in college instead. A few of the religious members of the students and faculty do not respect the non-Catholic or atheist students. If you want your child to grow in faith, do not send them here. The only two ways that your child's faith will be altered is in the closing of their mind, or in making them atheist or severely doubt the existence of a God (happened to me and a lot of others).
