Unfortunately this school is not consistent with follow up IEP testing. Instead of completing reevaluation they stated my child was doing better academically and they felt no further services were needed for high school. My child entered 9th grade with no real supports even though the Middle school claimed the 504 would provide supports. She struggled through all of 9th grade I requested an IEP Meeting. In the meeting everyone was shocked that it was suggested to remove services based on her test scores from 8th grade and immediately reinstated services. I now have a thriving 10th grader that could have had a smoother transition into high school.

I take blame for not fighting for continued services and giving into the advice of the special education coordinator. Never go against your discernment as a parent! However, I also hold the administrators accountable for not doing their job and serving the students best interests!

I am and alumni from Providence and look back on my days here with fondness and my review reflects that time here. The teachers were wonderful and somehow always made learning a fun experience. I made many friends here and we still remain friends today. Providence will always hold a special place in my heart because of the teachers who I will always remember, miss and think of often they too remain close to my heart. Thank you Providence for the years of education and memories that you provided which helped lay the foundation of my success today, you will always remain in my heart.

I am currently a student at Providence Middle School (7th grade), and i wanted to share my experience at the school to warn parents and their children. Before i went to this school my mother researched it. After doing so, she didn't want me to go here at all, because she had seen some people's experiences claiming about how they had a ''bad time''. Despite that I still decided to attend the school, which was a big mistake.

From the outside it seems great, but my school has many flaws.
It is a very well built school, with an amazing design, but some of the teachers are kind of rude and can be aggressive at times for no reason. Fights happen very often, and it makes me and many other students feel unsafe. Another thing to note is that I used to be a person who spoke a lot, but now i don't speak much. This is because many students pick on each other, and I fear that I will be picked on next. If you want your child to attend this school, please, don't let them. It will be a horrible experience for them, and for you. I understand we all have different experiences at schools but, i recommend you not risk something like what I've experienced happen to your child.
I have tried being myself at this school but no matter what they always made rude remarks and said mean things. The food is nasty, and the photos people take of each other are so terrible they can ruin your entire reputation. Something I really dislike is that, the communication at the school is terrible. A few months ago i had signed up for mega mentors (a school program) and I missed multiple meet-ups due to the terrible communication. The hallways are very hard to navigate through and are often crowded every time a fight occurs.
So, please, please, do not let your child attend this school!

In my experience, teachers at this school want to see their students succeed. They are supportive, and motivate their students to learn. They give the students opportunities to retake tests if the students express interest in doing better on tests.

The main thing people forget when it comes to any childs success (especially when it comes to test scores) is establishing good study habits at home. Parents need to take an interest in the success of their child. Tests scores would go up if Parents at this school would be more engaged with the success of their kid. (A simple fix, take the cell phone and tablets from your child)

This is the second year and our kid is doing really well. They have him on an accellerated track which gives him high school credits. We are also very pleased with his school counselor because she is engaged and easy to talk to.

My daughter has been having issues this past year with certain teachers not doing their jobs properly, not teaching the way that they should and its a big gap in communication between parents and administrators unless its about a cell phone being taken they dont care or put much energy into anything else , Im not happy with how this school is making my daughter feel . She went from AB honor roll every report card to struggling . If they do t see that as an issue then something is really wrong . Bottom line were not happy with this school at all !

My child is in SpEd department but engages with neurotypical children through electives and activities. I volunteer on most field trips and see the amazing dynamic of this school. I also have a child at a much higher rated school and do the same. To be honest this school with lower socio economic students and multi cultures serves the community better than the higher rated schools. The ratings are skewed. The students in this school are more likely bilingual with English as a second language as well as their families cannot afford tutors and fun learning programs like mathnaseum. Bullying is dealt with swifter and more efficiently than the higher rated schools as well as community and team building is better. If your child needs extra help this school would be better for them as there are many programs in place for that.

Did you notice how most of the 5 star reviews are teachers and possible staff members?! That definitely shows something, don't you think? I know lots of students in this school and I just have to say, I haven't encountered anyone who's actually enjoyed their time here. Back when school wasn't online, there were fights nearly everyday and all the school staff did was suspend them for a few days. Even if they fought continuously they very rarely got expelled or faced legal consequences like the school claimed would happen.

Providence Middle School last week joined the ranks of Chesterfield County schools to be honored with the National Schools to Watch designation. There are now seven Chesterfield County middle schools with this honor. In 2020, PVMS was 1 of 18 schools in Virginia and 1 of 240 schools nationwide to be designated.

Ok I went here all three years 6-8 grade about eight years ago. And I would like to point out that this school is in NO WAY bad. I mean ask any former student and I bet they will have great memories of this school like I have. The only thing that bums me out is that they no longer have a school play. Really im wondering why it seems like they've done a complete overhaul of the staff. Because I only recognize one or two teachers from the website and none of the others. But anyway, on the issue of the teachers I cant speak for the newer ones but back in my day we got progress reports along with a phone call if you're grades where bad and that explained it usually. The thing these parents today need to realize is pvms has alot of students and the teachers are probably stretched thin I mean after all last time I checked chesterfield county schools aren't land locked so as long as you have a ride you can go to any school you wish. Plus there's three elementary schools that feed into pvms. You can't expect everything to be on you're time schedule ild imagine the teachers are trying there best.

Providence is a great school! The teachers are very dedicated and enthusiastic. My daughter,who is in seventh grade, has done well academically and on the SOL tests. She loves school and has made great friends. The administration fosters an environment of respect and encourages athletic and club participation along with student leadership.

My daughter started 6th grade last year at Providence Middle School, I was impressed with their "Summer Camp" for 6th graders. She learned organizational and study skills. She was also given her schedule and learned how to get to every class. And they even worked on learning how to open their lockers. I have found it very easy to make contact with the principal, staff and every teacher. 6th grade was a wonderful experience and 7th grade is starting out just as great!!

Providence Middle School is a diverse middle school in Chesterfield County, VA. My two kids have gone there and we couldn't have been happier. The adminstration is top-notch as is the teaching staff. They answer my emails right away and problems are handled immediately. The guidance dept. was so helpful last year when my daughter was applying to specialty high schools. They went above and beyond all year long. My kids felt (feel) happy and respected there. Would highly recommend!

I myself went to Providence, graduated in 2013 and in my opinion it was an overall good school. Rumors might say that it is a bad school but truly it's not. The quote "bad" things about the school happen at every middle school. I would defiantly recommend students to go to providence. Current students, just make the best of your middle school years cus highschool gets a lot harder. Learn good study habits in middle school cus you will need them in the future.

This is my childs first year here at Providence. So far I have found that the teachers do not get back with you when they are sent an email. I would like for the teachers to respond in a timely manner. My childs grades have gone down and I would like to know why and the teacher hasn't responded.

The teachers are very friendly and helpful! The whole school seems to be very loyal to their beliefs and values! The Principal and teachers communicate greatly with the students and the parents. They are also very profficient.

I have had one child finish at Providence and I now have a son that is currently enrolled here in the seventh grade taking honors classes. The school (staff) has always been respectful,understanding, and well informed of most questions I needed answered at times. The teachers from last year were on top of their game keeping me well informed of my childs progress at school and keeping Edline updatedfor me as well. This year has just begun but I already know three of my sons teachers and expect another great teaching year.

I attended providence for my 7th grade year. Its NOT a bad school. Its actually a great school. Yeah i ran into a fight with someone. but all and all the school is great. I didn't really have a problem with administration. except they do let certain people wear certain clothes and not others

I have been going to providence since 6th grade.I am in 8th grade now. Yes providence has bullys and fights. But it has improved alot since my 6th grade year. If the person being bullied tells an administrator, it will be dealth with. All fights are dealth with. We have homework in all most all of our core classes most of the days. There is no more soar. Instead there is lunch in learn where your kid goes to the class that they need to do work in. Its not as bad of a school that everyone thinks it is. Its a great school.
