Go somewhere else. Awful experience. If you have kids enrolled, monitor them well. Teacher's don't care. Admin could care less about the school.

Had both my kids start school here for preschool, prek and K for 2 years. The curriculum was great and saw both kids thriving academically, however i increasingly started seeing signs of apprehension with both about going to school. Some teachers for the youngest kids had entirely too high expectations and made my kindergartener despise school and still talks about it to this day (he is now entering 2nd grade in public school). He lacked self confidence because he felt like he could never do anything right since he teacher failed to point out all his strengths and only focused on improvements. Having to pay a tuition to go to a so called "great school" i quickly realized they are more about the money and less about the kids. Parents are constantly asked for more money towards things that should already be provided in the classroom as well. The teachers always made us parents feel like they couldnt wait until their next break outside of school. Such a disappointment. Both my kids now attend oublic school and have not been happier since. The best way i can describe this school in comparison to other private schools in the area is that Greenwood is the "great value" brand. It may be less expensive but not worth it.

Greenwood Christian Academy has been a blessing to our family for over 13 years. I cant say enough about the caring nature of the teachers and staff. It is a Christ centered school that offers smaller classes for hands-on, focused and tailored learning. Two of my children have moved on to public school and were overly prepared academically to do so. It is a special place that we highly recommend.

We started out with high hopes from our tour and many discussions on our child's special need. The first few weeks went great then it got worse. Papers were being sent home undone with the explanation of "we didn't have time to do them". My child's needs were ignored or always excused as "we didn't tell them everything so they didn't know if they could work with my child". I was in contact daily trying to work with them. Upon several observations, I saw them completely ignoring my child's needs and was even told the teacher and class were behind because of my child. In my other child's class the teacher was very pushy and would even hold him in the room instead of letting me hug him at drop off. Neither of my children's teachers appeared to even like their jobs. They have expectations for even the smallest children that are unreasonable. Admin will continually change their stories until the blame lays all on the child and parent and they look good. You can tell a majority of the teachers could care less about the children and more about the paycheck. At pickup you would see most of them, with their bags in hand ready to leave. They will tell you things at your tour or on the phone that sound really good (why we picked this school), only to find out they do not do it! I

I have a unbiased opinion due to the fact I am a public school teacher. My son is in the 1st grade and he is reading better than some students that are in the public school that I teach in. The plus side to that is he writes in cursive everyday now and can read it as well. I thought my husband was crazy for selecting this school due to the school district we live in which is james city county but it is worth every dime we spend. They keep a great structure for the kids and it translate to when they come home after school. The Small classroom helps them to pay attention to all the children in the classroom. It is a true village culture here that cultivates the children to be our future. I recommend this school to all parents and children it is a hidden gem that most don't even know about and are surely missing out.

My son came to GCA from public school, and we have seen such a difference in his development in the six months that he's been there. The teachers and staff always have a kind word and a warm greeting for the kids AND their parents. His teacher is very proactive and responsive, and I love the fact that we get daily behavior and weekly curriculum updates. That is something that was sorely lacking at his old elementary school. We truly feel that the staff at GCA are happy to partner with us in our son's education.

Greenwood Christian Academey is WIlliamsburg's best kept secret! The faculty and staff are super friendly! Our son is thriving and doing well because of the amazing staff there.
I couldn't dream now of sending our son anywhere else! The entire staff is respectful, and supportive! They do all they can to help each indivdual child succeed there!

This school is awesome, teachers and staff are outstanding. The staff knows each child's name and speaks to them every morning with a smile. Can't say enough good words about this school, keep up the good work GCA! Thank you so much for all your hard work.

We have three children in Greenwood this year and we've been amazed at their growth! The school is truly rooted in Christian principles and focused on ensuring the best education for their students.
My 4 year old is in the Beavers class with Mrs. Bryant and Mrs. Gott. I can't express how excited we are about what he is learning - he has several Spanish words down, knows most of the alphabet in sign language and has recently become enamored with our solar system! He is learning so much for such a young age.
Our 5 year old is also in preschool in the Squirrels class with Mrs. Sneathen and Mrs. S. She is already reading, can write extremely well and has learned some amazing things this past year. We're excited that she is so ahead in preperation for Kindergarten.
Our 6 year old is in Kindergarten with Mrs. Peterson and Mrs. Colesar. He was so apprehensive when the school year started - now, he is growing in his leadership skills, he is reading, writing in cursive, his math skills amaze me as well as what he's learning in geography!
I'm so excited my children are developing such a strong foundation for their school years. Not only is the education top notch but the school is very focused on being Christ-centered. The school did a whole focus on missions in Uganda and our children were so excited to bring money in every day to help the children in Uganda. We are privileged to be a part of Greenwood and love the family atmosphere there! I encourage you, come out, meet the teachers, see the school for yourself.

My child was behind in school and lacking self confidence. We transferred them to greenwood Christian academy and we were amazed at the transformation! They now have straight A's and friendships that will last forever. As for the new administration.... I have personally worked with them and have been nothing but pleased. My child thanks me daily for sending her to GCA and I would highly recommend it! Changes are happening at GCA but only for the better! Take a tour you will be so impressed!

I cannot say enough about GCA!! We have been there for 3 years now and couldn't be happier! All of the teachers are so amazing and care for the kids like they are their own. We are well on our way to becoming ACSI Certified, all due to the wonderful new administration that we have now. Please check this school out before you make any decisions!!

Was once a great school, and the teachers are wonderful. However, the new administration (2014) is questionable in ethics and appropriateness. School governance and oversight is non-existent. Be very careful before getting involved in this school.

We love this school. The staff is wonderful and so are the teachers. My daughter loves her teachers and enjoys each day. She has learned so much and she's only in kindergarten. She has Spanish, gym, art, and technology. All of these teachers make learning fun. We tried public school and that didn't workout for us. The public schools are to crowded and you have little say in what goes on. I just wish they went up to 12th grade because it's going to be hard to find a middle school and high school that can compare to this one.

Greenwood Christian Academy serves preschoolers - 5th graders, and consistently rates above average in standardized testing. ABeka phonics, Saxon math, Bible, Spanish, Tech, Art, PE & Music round out this rewarding educational experience. GCA celebrated 50 years!

The description is wrong. Greenwood Christian Academy has grades Pre-K, K-5th grade. It is wonderful Christian school. My son is 5 years old and attends kindergarten at GCA and has an amazing teacher. He is enrolled for 1st grade next year at GCA and I am thrilled.
