In the middle school, the math is strong - students take a rigorous Algebra class that exceeds VA SOLs. The visual arts is excellent. Students are all in language immersion and receive the equivalent of several years of high school language instruction or more (some students have tested out of 4th year high school Spanish or French. My daughter was well positioned to apply to ARGS and MWGS and school has placed several students at both.

This is our 4th year there, and I really appreciate the one-on-one attention and small class size. All of my 3 children go there, and are in the French immersion track. They attend all day, and the entire morning is in French. I took my 6-year-old daughter to France last summer, and she was my "translator" for the 2 weeks. I was blown away by the ease of her French, and the vast amounts of ideas she was able to communicate. The Parisians were stunned by how well she spoke French -- which is 100% thanks to the school, as my husband and I speak *none.* All of my children self-select French movies to watch, as they are comfortable and fluent in the language -- which they've learned it in a challenging-but-accepting environment. There is really no other immersion program like this in Richmond, and I'm so glad we found it!
