This school is fine. If you want inclusivity and diversity this school is great, teachers are always kind and understanding and there is 0 room for bigotry and discrimination here. But with that inclusivity comes mediocrity and lots of it. 95% of students obviously do not care nor put in any effort, I ask some of my peers what they want to do after Highschool and they have 0 idea... I am a Junior. Most alumni go to the military, are undecided, or go to bottom feeder colleges like VCU and Reynolds. The only positives when it comes to education are the specialty centers and the somewhat high amount of AP courses. If you value education there are better schools.

It sure would be nice if you had more than half of your reviews in the last decade. One review since the pandemic is pretty weak. Thankfully, it is a positive one. I imagine taking stock of schools in any location is a tough endeavor, but I would likely try to keep things up to date.

Hermitage High School was a great place for my son who is now serving in the US Navy. The JROTC program is class act along with staff. Note I was a very involved parent and my son participated in Soccer/Wresting/ Golf and swim team. The school is not perfect but does provide a young person a great perspective of the real world.

I graduated from Hermitage class of 2016. Overall I had an amazing experience at this school. My teachers were wonderful and I left the school equipped with a great education. School culture is down-to-earth, accepting, and appreciative of differences. Lots of school pride when it comes to football (the team is excellent and it was always fun to go to games). Like all high schools, Hermitage did have its problems with fights, theft, drugs, etc. We sometimes were stereotyped as a scary or rough school, but this is just not true at all. I met some of the most intelligent, hardworking, kind, funny, and interesting people I've ever come across while at Hermitage. A few things I would change about this school: more support for non-football sports, more AP classes to be offered (like Physics and BC Calculus), and more incentive/reward for teachers who choose to dedicate their time and energy to sponsoring a club or other extracurricular. On a final note - I was also in the Humanities program - it gave me a wonderful background in art history, music, and culture, and I am very appreciative of this unique aspect of my education. I wouldn't trade my experience at Hermitage for anything.

Hermitage has a beautiful culture of acceptance. Unlike many high schools in the county, there is no hierarchy of popularity. People are not afraid to be themselves and to embrace what makes them unique. I have a deep pride and respect for this school because of this.

Hermitage administration had a lot on its plate in terms of discipline and test scores, and sometimes other areas were neglected because of this. I was disappointed to see clubs and extracurriculars die because no teachers were willing or encouraged to sponsor them.

I am currently a sophmore at Hermitage and I have to say it has been THE WORST experience of my life. I dread every morning I have to wake up and go there. I cannot stand it here the students are so ghetto, loud and obnoxious. A good amount of them come from Wilder Middle so I am not surprised. The teachers dont teach anything my spanish teacher just sits at her desk on the computer and gives us busy work and my other teachers just simply dont know what they are doing. Anytime a teacher is willing to let a student pull out their cell phones and take pictures with them is saying something. The teachers dont do anything about bullying when they see it and I have honestly seen teachers talk bad about them right infront of them. The lunch is horrific, the administrators dont enforce any rules. In all honestly I cant say one good thing about this school other than the football team. Most of my friends go to Glen Allen HS which makes even more upset so if anyone can tell me how to get out of Hermitage and go there I would be extremely thankful.

i am currently a freshman at hermitage and its really fun here. its a very popular school the teachers here worry about your education and try to help you in anyway they can. they have so many sports and activities you can get into to be a better person in school you also have to keep your grades up to be in those activities and sports so its a very good tool to try your best in school. overall hermitage is the best school in the county. GOBIGHERM!

I am a senior, I've attended all four years, and it's a school unlike any other. While there are some definite structural issues that need tending to (leaky roofing, etc) and the classrooms can get pretty crowded, it's a great environment. 30+ students in an AP class is a little much, since Glen Allen opened to relieve the crowding problem, and yet we still face that issue. My teachers have always been reliable and helpful when I needed them. Their 20th History class is unlike any other. The administrators hardly have any purpose besides monitoring the commons and herding kids to class in the morning. I can't really take them seriously, since fights are a constant regardless and our windows get broken regularly. Hermitage certainly has character as far as schools go. It's been a good four years, only a semester to go.

I've had a poor experience at Hermitage these past four years. The administrators tend to be bullies and have treated me like I've done something wrong, even though I've never even had a detention. My guidance counselor has changed every year and they have too many students to really help me as an individual. Classes are incredibly overcrowded. No AP class should have thirty five students. I was also unable to take several classes because they were full and instead was placed in lower levels. The school also cares too much about the football team/players. One boy from the football team skipped school and the administration didn't do anything because it was football season. They also care more about the Humanities students than they do the rest of the population, whether you take advanced classes or regular. A girl I know from the Humanities Center was able to get into a class that my guidance counselor told me was full while I was placed in a study hall. When the guidance department messed up my schedule, it took me almost a month to get out of classes I hadn t signed up for and into the ones I had. I m glad I m almost done here and only have one semester left.

I love my Art1 Class my teacher is really nice, I'm painting and making paper mache so far.I am a freshmen at this school and showed up in sometime in October.I don't like my Algebria 1 teacher she's kinda mean.She doesn't allow kids to talk period.I know some teachers allow kids to quietly talk after we do our days work,but she doesn't.I'm really lonely in that class.What makes it worst is that she's my 5 period so I have everyday.But that's school right. 21th Century History sounds boring,but it's really fun,my teacher in that class demonstrate the history and instead of learning things like in actual history, he/she tells us new things everyday.

This is my sons 1st year at Herm n so far we are pleased. The teachers and staff really seem to care n that each student succeeds.
