I am not sure what the school is now my last child graduated 3 yrs ago . But my daughter was prepared for college. She has graduated college and is in her masters program as are most of the friends she had while attending HSHS. She is 24. Whenever the school gets good staffing they magically get promoted or moved. As if the school has been set up as a proving ground and the children there be damned. If the school is failing it due to the failing of the school board the adults in charge of making sure they are prepared. The school was overcrowded when my son was there So it’s not beyond thought that it is still wildly overcrowded now. Are any schools on the west end this crowded ? They aren’t . I attended schools in the west when I was young I have first hand experiences of the vast differences in how the kids are treated from one side of the county to the other . It is the failing of the people in charge . Not the children they are children .

As with any school rating, You must rate based on all aspects of schools performance. It is a great new school and the staff members are dedicated to helping the students succeed in every way possible. Great Job. Go Springers.

The school could do some changes. Some teachers are passionate on teaching their students even if their having a bad day but other teachers just teach to get paid. The young adults should have a say on what goes on in their school. HSHS IS OVER CROWDED!! Hallways are always packed, students only get 5 minuets tonget to class that is hard to do when you can barely get by!

Its WAY overcrowded. I could barely get to my 3rd period. Theres always fights and we are always on restricted movement. All the kids are not even worried about education. They just care about popularity. The only good things about that school is the tech centers, sports, and clubs.

The students are horrible to each other and the teachers do nothing step in and be adults. No one wants to be the bigger person and people around here are just so mean and close minded.

Highland Springs is a very good school with teachers who really care about the students. My child was at another school in the county and the teachers there (not all) that taught my son could have cared less about his education. It's every parents job to make sure their child is accountable, but the children are with their teachers more than they're with us. So having teachers that care is a huge help for the working parent. Unfortunately the stereotypes will always be there because of racism. There are many honor students in the school, as well as students striving for greatness. HS has an "old school" feel, where you know they have your child's best interests at heart. The school has the same issues as any other school in this area. Just when it happens at HS it's blown out of proportion and broadcast throughout the media. Hanover County and a number of Western Henrico Schools are look upon as the "best" schools in the area. What most people don't know is they have the largest number of heroin and alcohol problems in the state. The difference is it's not broadcasted in the media like it would be if it were an issue at HS. My son is an multi sport athlete w/ 3.0 GPA.gospring

My school is a great school, The only thing that is bad about it is the bullying. I do not like bullies. I feel that the school is not meant for bullying, it is meant for a great education and get the kids where they need to be. I am 16 and I am 10th grade and I experience bullying everywhere and everyday. I really want the school to pay more attention to bullying. I like the teachers, I like the lunch, I like the principal and I love the after school activities and the class field trips. I went on a Art Club field trip to Museum of Fine arts in VA Beach and we went to the Art Institute and I am really thinking about going there. I really like this school. It i s amazing. I just feel they need to pay more attention to Bullying!!!!

I'm a freshman at HSHS and I don't really like the school. Many fights go on, and we get a lot of restricted movements. I do however like some classes I'm taking. Overall, I don't like it. The other students are very very loud, and it's hard for me to learn. I'm hoping to move into a better school district to get the most out of High School. None of the students here (that I've seen) are inspired to learn, many skip class. Also, the dress code. A lot of students "sag" and wear short shirts and skirts. It's very annoying, but no one seems to care at all. Well I do. I absolutely hate this school.

My daughter graduated from this school and received a great education. She has since graduated from UVA, and is in her 3 year of law school. A school is only what you make it. I would love to see a new school build for this area. The students deserve it. They are great!
