I went to this school for sixth grade, and it was horrible. I was bullied in front of not only my classmates but my own teacher. My teacher at the time had zero control over the students and really showed zero regard to my well-being when I was clearly being bullied right in her face. No one sticks up for anyone at this school! However, the only thing I did really like at the school was the library and the accessibility to two-world languages (Spanish and French). In a nutshell if you aren't a stereotype of "cool" to the students here they will treat you as less. I did meet some really kind people while I was here though.

I'm a teen this school I will never come back to I'm in 7th and there is roaches every were food poisoning snakes and rat they under cook the meat I got sick from this place to many times and I'm in 7th bad building

I have two children currently attending Carter G. Woodson Middle School. My 8th grader has enjoyed being involved in activities and maintains honor roll status. The teachers have been great in challenging her. My 6th grader is adjusting to being in a middle school environment and is benefiting from the elective program. The morning intervention is great because she obtains extra assistance in reading. I am looking forward to our first PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCE next week.

There is no homework on Fridays. My children seem to have enough to do and balance after school involvements in the community.

The school has a PRIDE creed. "Positive Behavior, Respect, Integrity, Determination and Excellence"
The children earn "PAWS" for demonstrating these traits which can be used to shop in the "PAWS" store. They also earn fun activities at the end of each 9 weeks for demonstrating these behaviors called PBIS. It is used to encourage positive behavior changes.

I have been extremely pleased with the teachers and administration at this school. The teachers truly care about the students and want the absolute best for them. However, I believe many of the students here have little to no discipline or involvement from parents, which makes the teacher's job very difficult. My child loved most of his teachers and felt like they did a good job in teaching him but he was constantly complaining about the ridiculous behavior of the other children. More parental involvement and discipline at home is what many of the kids in this school need.

My son is thankfully on his last year at Carter G Woodson. The teachers are worst than the children. They treat the kids nice if they like them , and write up and give a hard time to the ones they don't like. Most immature but of adults I ever met . This parent can't wait until this school year is done !!!!!

Horrible leadership. Too many principals and no one is on the same page! I have had 2 kids at this school and I attended it years ago. This school has become so ghetto and the teachers are ill prepared to handle the kids. We have had instances where a teacher was harrassing my kid just because she didnt like her, she wrote my kid up for things that other kids were doing, I complained but the principal for her grade but he took up for the young, pretty teacher. The way he looked at her made me think there was more to their relationship then professionalism. Not all of the teachers and personnel are bad but the school is bad enough that we will be moving to avoid having to send our child there again next school year. If you are moving to the Hopewell area, do your self a favor and tour this school when it's in session and do your research.

This is the worst school I have ever encountered and we moved here from tidewater school. The children run this school. The schools office Mr.Morrison is a joke as well as some ot the teachers. What happened to being able to the days of sending our children to school and it being safe. What happen to teachers whom cared. They ask for parent involvement but when you get involved its a problem this school need the government to reevaluate it.

This has been my daughters first year here and it has been horrible the bullying she has went through was the worst out of the schools she has attended being a military child!!! I am so scared to send her to school everyday thank god we will be moving soon!! and she or, my other children will never have to attend this school again..

Worst experience of my daughters school years. she had to relocate in order to graduate on time class of 2008. If at all possible move to Chesterfield or Henrico school systems. Your child will be safer and you will have peace of mind.
