As a parent of multiple Orting graduates, I look back on our K-12 experience with a grateful heart. Living in a densely populated area allows access to so much in the South Sound. We have arts, museums, professional athletics, and a myriad of retailers to choose from, but that typically means sending my kids to a huge school system. Not in Orting! Orting has a niche that I do not see elsewhere in our region. They have schools where the principal knows my student by name and cares deeply about their mission. It is common to talk regularly with teachers, principals, and even district administrators. If you want to meet with the superintendent, you can! The stories of staff and how they go above and beyond in their community are endless. Staff who work there could choose to go elsewhere for more, but they don't! It is not the most affluent area, and the people in our community have more blue-collar jobs. I think that gave my kids a balanced perspective on the world and allowed us to be part of one of the last truly American experiences of public school. The diversity is growing quickly, the test scores continue to grow, and they employ some of the best humans in the world. I would 1000% send my kids through this district. If you are lucky enough to get inside their boundaries, your kids will benefit. Mine are flourishing in college right now!

The staff at Orting High School are some of the most caring, professional educators I have ever experienced. The college credit, not measured on your sire, that is available on campus rivals larger schools that surround Orting. Although not measured on your site, they have a lot of CTE courses that prepare students for the trades. Washington state ranks the school higher than most schools in the area.

As a student attending a small school is hard, coming from somewhere with wide diverse views, opinions, and cultures. The teachers and students are fairly close minded and are not open to changes or adjusting to fit each individual students learning ways. It's hard attending a school where you can be hated on because of something like your race or sexuality.

Orting HS has a very "small" atmosphere yet big ideas that are accomplished with goals set at the beginning of each school year. The students are all in all friendly and up beat. I enjoy the staff very much.
