Sunrise Elementary in Puyallup has been an outstanding experience for our family. The level of resources and support available to students is impressive. Its clear the district invests in giving schools the tools they need to help kids succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

We have two daughters at Sunrise, and one of the biggest differences weve noticed compared to districts we experienced in the Seattle and Olympia areas is the culture of personal responsibility and confidence. Our girls are encouraged to take ownership of their learning, make good choices, and see themselves as capable and empowered. That sense of agency has made a meaningful difference in their growth.

The principals are exceptional. They are engaged, visible, and genuinely make school fun for the kids. Their energy sets the tone for a positive school environment where students feel excited to be there.

For our family, Sunrise has been a true sea change from our prior district experiences. Were very grateful for the leadership, culture, and commitment to helping students thrive. Highly recommend.

Weve been very impressed with Sunrise Elementary. The Quest program is strong and engaging my kids are learning real math depth while still having fun.

The building is new and clean, and communication from leadership is consistent and clear. Teachers genuinely seem happy to be there and often refer to each other as the Sunrise family, which reflects the positive culture.

The music program for 5th and 6th graders is well supported, with options for choir, orchestra, or band. The art program is also a highlight. PTA events like Trunk or Treat make the community feel connected.

Overall, Sunrise offers a thoughtful, well-rounded experience for families who value both academics and enrichment.

Sunrise staff care deeply about the students and are committed to providing a safe, fun, and empowering environment for the children to thrive in. We are so grateful for Sunrise! It is an awesome place for our to kids to learn and grow. The teachers and admin are supportive and they make learning fun! My kids are excelling in school and they tell us how much they enjoy going to school.

Nothing but criticism towards the kids and the parents they lost my child and sent me the wrong one when I came to pick her up not just once but twice not to mention they did it to her grandmother one time as well and then lost the paperwork on who could pick up my niece that went to that school as well

Sunrise Elementary is by far the most unprofessional school I have dealt with and I have dealt with many. Parents and future considering staff members please be aware! From the Paras, resource paras, and duty's. They allow children to run around in back of the school where the PSD trucks and buses drive out of. They will have your children waiting on the bus for 10+ minutes (many with special needs) and when you bring it up to their attention they bring up their contract time. (How are the children going to start their day off positive when they're getting agitated and frustrated waiting around) You would think since Sunrise is a newer school they would have a system that works but that is not the case here. Parents and and future staff members please be aware!

The school does not care about the disability needs of students. It is next to impossible to get an IEP evaluation. Even if you are able to get a 504 plan for your child, good luck getting the teachers to follow it. Teachers are quick to blame students for all issues and administration seems to defend the teachers. Some teachers will treat students poorly if they do not like them. Teachers expect students to know how to use all of the online websites even though teachers don't seem to know how to use the online websites being used for remote learning.

I've had nothing but positive experiences with Sunrise. The staff is amazing and goes above and beyond for my children. They've truly become like family to us.

As a direct neighbor to this school as well as a parent of children that attend I am truly impressed with the campus and the teaching staff. We love this school!!

We have had an amazing experience with Sunrise! The staff always do what is best for their students. My kids teachers have always done a great job intervening when they needed extra support and pushing them when they needed to be challenged. I can't imagine taking my kids to any other school.

Very displeased with this school over the last 7 years (2kids). Have had awful experiences with one teacher at each grade level (there are 2-3 exceptional teachers) Many teachers (including the music teacher) have no classroom management skills, resorting to yelling and being rude to the children. The "Card Flip" discipline at the higher grade levels is ridiculous. We are on our 4th or 5th principal since 2005, and The communication between principal and parents this year is less than desirable.
