This school has been a terrible experience.
The principal has been non existent.
Kids run rampant through the hallways every day, there are angry students that threaten the staff...every. single.day.
It is a threatening environment and there is no one to watch out for everyone.

The school has the potential to be great but there are some serious issues. My child was accidentally hit by a chair that another child threw because she was “mad”. Nothing was done. Kids here have behaviour issues & teachers do nothing.

Excellent experience so far and is probably the best elementary school in the Dupont area.

My daughter is in fourth grade and great experience so far. Great teachers who keep kids always occupied with a lot of indoor and outdoor activities.

The leadership at this school is great, they seem to know each kid by name. My son has had some issues with behavior in class and the Dean has shown kindness to him to work through the behavior. He says she even checks up on him to make sure he is still doing good.

My son has loved his time here, the staff and teachers helped with some hard times with him and it has definitely put him on a good path.

I love the fact that the teachers don't load the kids down with homework.

The admin team is so supportive. We have a special needs student and the principal and dean made every effort to get to know our daughter and her needs.

My daughter loves school. Every day she talks about Ms. B and all of the things they are doing. As a parent of a special needs student, it has been so wonderful to see her excited about school!

We have nothing but good things to say about Saltar's Point. Our kids LOVE going to school. Teachers are so hopeful and the admin is always visable and supportive. My son ate lunch with the principal once a week in the library and it was the highlight of his day!

So many problems with this school. My child has no idea who the principal is! The primary school is quite the opposite in every way. The poor teachers and students.
Test scores...going down at this school- mediocre is the best we can get?! I’m tired of excuses...more computer time is what they require to get better scores??

How about less computer time and more teaching time! my child does not want to come home and do math in the computer after being on it most of the day at school. My child comes home to tell me they watched a video, did their math on a computer, listened to a book on the computer...and had extra recess because they were quiet. Please, teach my kid math!

What happened to friendly principals or welcoming front offices?? The first of many visits to the office were met with a rude secretary who dismissed me and could care less! It’s obvious it comes from the less than visible principal.

I have a 4th and 5th grader at the school this year. So far our experience has been great. Lots of parent envolvment, active PTA, watch DOGS ( dad's of great students) program. Communication is great, with weekly school emails and every teacher I have needed to contact have responded to my calls/emails in a very timely manner. Teachers seem genuinely interested in getting to know students and helping them succeed.

Dupont and Steilacoom has best schools to offer. Teachers are very involved and gives just enough homework. There are many digital options also available if kids needs to excel in their grade level.

I can only rate the teacher's my daughter has had as educators. I can't speak for the school in general.

I LOVE our daughter's teachers and Beth however, the rest of the administration I'm not thrilled about. I have never even met the principal and do not agree with their lunch/recess policy, it causes kids to rush through lunch instead of taking time to actually eat so that they have time to play.

This school serves students from 4th and 5th grade from DuPont, Steilacoom, and Anderson Island. So it is much like a mini middle school. That said, it was quite an adjustment at first for my child. We've been fortunate enough to get great teachers the two years my child went here. They were kind, competent, enthusiastic, and communicated with us pretty well.

The principal and vice-principal isn't very approachable or personable but disciplinary problems seemed to be handled by both systematically, with communication to parents as soon as possible. The school also employs a counselor and a school psychologist.

Enrichment classes includes Music (the music teacher got rave reviews from my child), PE, Library, Art and Tech, and Counselor. Students can also join drama/theater, choir in 4th grade, and band in 5th grade as extracurriculars.

On the downside, the food served at the cafeteria can be better. When my child purchases a hot lunch their class is often one of the last ones to go so the better choices is often gone. Also the kids really do not get much time to eat before they're being sent out the door to accommodate the three lunch periods. Finally, the school is a bit far from DuPont so almost all kids are bussed.

Not sure why someone is trolling to dog this school. 2 yrs experience with the school and myself and everyone I know are happy with it. Take the bad reviews with a grain of salt.

Not worth the time to really educate your children properly. poor teachers and even poorer administration.

My 9 year old Son has ADHD. At first, he did well at Saltar's. He had an IEP (individual learning plan) with one on one help in math and writing. About half way through his 4th grade year, his teacher began calling his mother at work in the middle of the day. Warning her that her Son was becoming disruptive, not cooperating, and causing undescribed disruptions in the classroom. These calls evolved into almost a bulling or badgering to put our Son on some kind of medication. We tried several different drugs, but our Son would not eat because of hem and lost weight. Here's our dilemma. Do we ruin our child's physical health so as to make him easier to teach, or do we nurture him and expect the staff at Saltar's to do their jobs?

We are a military family who moved into this school district to avoid the on-post and military feeder schools off-post and it has been WELL WORTH IT. Our son has always been slow to meet friends and we have always had to have an IEP due to stress induced stuttering but at Saltar's he has made friends immediately, no longer requires speech services after a quality evaluation that finally identified the speech issues as stress induced (as we thought as parents). Additionally,Mrs. LeCompte immediately welcomed Louis into her classroom, has a strong stance against bullying and challenges our son to do better...not just in what he is struggling but in what he is succeeding in as well. My son loves her because she seems to do all this "without ever yelling." The office has been responsive, expedient, and friendly. The PTA is very involved with many different events each month. We were hesitant about enrolling our son in school knowing we would move again shortly & considered homeschool but are happy we decided against it. They have helped our son develop social skills and he is quickly learning to make friends. Most important he smiles when he comes home for the first time in a while.

terrible school. No follow ups and poor office staff. very disapionting staff !! Not a good school for an average student or a very bright student as well . no special services are offered and the staff is clueless to state funded programs.

After several transition years withchanging principals, Saltar's is now settled with a stable principal, a staff that genuinely cares, and teachers who are motivated and engaged with the children. The district does not provide funding for extra-curricular activities, but the teachers try to do the best they can. The school is responsive to parents' needs and concerns when placing students. Our children really enjoyed it.

We have had some excellent teachers at Saltar's Point. The student body is well behaved and the building is well maintained. We have been generally very pleased with this school.

Terrible school! I have never felt like my child was in danger of going to school until he had to go to this one. They never did anything to make sure the students were safe. Glad we moved away from here.
