My daughter is attending this school and I love it! She only went here from the end of April to the ending of the 2013-2014 school year and we had no problems at all. Where as at her old school Tillicum Elementary in Lakewood she was bullied for being mixed and for other stupid little things,Clover Park School district has the worse bus drivers who would argue with my child make racial comments about her name, made her sit in a seat alone and no one was allowed to sit by her ( my child was never bad on the bus either) and once she fell asleep on the bus and they forgot about her....I have had no issues here at all. The peace march was really cool and my child loved it! I think its great they are involving our kids in things that can impact the community greatly! I love this school

This is a fantastic school, if you want to enroll your child in an educational institution where the "F" word flows like water amonst & between the students unaddressed. Here is the school, where every child will learn a second language of "Ghetto", and parent involvement is discouraged. I have heard children spoken to in a manner by staff I do not even speak to my dog in. The staff seems to have forgotten that without our children they would be unemployed. If your child is a student here know your rights, and your childs rights. Keep the phone number of Tacoma School Superintendent handy. Don't be afraid to use call, discuss practices, (not policies), and file complaints when rights have been violated. There are other orginazations that will help you at no charge if you feel intimidated by the abrasiveness, and attitude of the administrative staff. Keep in mind they ultimately have no authority over parents, or students. This is a school where parents must be involved, question "authorty", and stand up to it to insure fair and equal treatment. If you don't have to send your child here DON'T do it.

unfortunately McCarver Elementary is located in one of the poorest areas of Tacoma. Due to extremely high poverty rates children aren't usually seen a second year in a row. Thanks to McCarver and the Tacoma Housing Authority, My family is able to pull ourselves out of poverty and my child has a chance to succeed in the same school for the next 5 years!!! Its called the McCarver Special Housing Program through the Tacoma Housing Authority and this is only the beginning... I give it a year and McCarver will be one of the highest rated schools in Tacoma!!!!
