This school was a total disaster for my son with autism all year long; the special education teacher was completely unprofessional, as were the paraprofessionals. My son would always come home injuredthe worst school for special education.

Drum Intermediate is a wonderful school that plays an important role in our community. It provides a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment where students feel supported and encouraged to succeed. One of the schools greatest strengths is its dedicated teachers, who work hard to make learning engaging and meaningful. They care deeply about their students and are always willing to go the extra mile to help them grow both academically and personally. The staff as a whole promotes a strong sense of community, and the school offers various opportunitiesinside and outside the classroomfor students to explore their interests and build confidence.
While Drum Intermediate offers many strengths, one area that could benefit from improvement is the school library. Though it remains a quiet and comfortable space for reading and studying, the selection of books could be updated to include more recent titles, diverse authors, and a wider range of genres. This small change would make the space even more engaging and valuable for students. Overall, Drum Intermediate is an excellent school that continues to make a positive difference in students lives and in the community as a whole.

The principal is immature. She lies and twists stuff to fit her agenda. She gives students dirty looks when their parents don't like the way she's treating their student. She shouldn't be principal. She doesn't shut down rumors when they are spreading false information about other students. Honestly we need a better principal at this school one who actually cares about our children. Someone like Tanisha Carter the vice principal. Be aware if your student goes here that Mrs Ferguson isn't trustworthy. She was caught in multiple lies in a situation involving my student.

My student immediately felt unsafe at this school, with many forms of negative physical contact that went unnoticed due to lack of supervision/oversight. My impression was that physical violence was normalized here and responsibility shifted to the children involved instead of how the system as a whole perpetuates bullying across all district schools. I regret focusing on 9/10 test scores and encourage all parents to take students seriously if they come home saying they feel unsafe. It is not just their nerves: its the atmosphere.

My son loved his teachers and classmates. They do emphasize strong academics; following up on the homework, too. The teachers provide excellent communication with the parents. Always are prepared for the class with great up to date resources.

Drum administration places a big emphasis on being kind and working hard. Teachers take time to get to know their students and their strengths. I have had 2 children attend Drum. 1 is incredibly strong academically; the other is quite weak. Both received the supports they needed to achieve success.

My daughter is in 6th grade at Drum. After putting two older boys through different middle schools (one in UP and one out of state), I have never experienced the level of cliques, bullying, and tormenting that my daughter has endured at this particular school. The stuff she has come home repeating from her classmates would make your hair curl. And the attitude they have about what kind of clothes you wear, etc... is disgusting. The kids come across as elitist little snots. My daughter is hoping we move after this year. The academics seem to be good and their band teacher is amazing.

My daughter was diagnosed with ADHD. I provided the school with the paperwork, which they lost and she was bullied by her teachers for fidgeting and doodling in class (coping mechanisms for ADHD).

New parents to the school, front office and administrative staff very welcoming and responsive, as have been specific teachers (two teachers in general who are NOT our daughter's teacher---just helpful in general). Very positive initial vibes....

If I could give this school zero stars, I would. The vice principal harasses us and our son almost on a daily basis. Meanwhile, they do not follow the 504 plan for our son. Don't attend Drum!!
