I really don't like how they let anybody into lighthouse. its supposed to be a christian school, but half the kids are from snobby families who don't even go to church. everyone is full of themselves, comparing how much money they have, and not at all demonstrating Christ-like families. The teachers aren't much better either.

Also, I REALLY hate this thing that the school does in middle school. They've had problems in the past where kids from 6th-8th grade don't talk to each other and are very separated and reserved, so this year, they creating something called "House Groups", where at the begining of the year, they split all they kids in middle school up into about 9 or 10 groups with about 3 kids from each grade in each group, led by the middle school teachers. We have Chapel every Wednesday, and for Chapel, we have to sit with our house groups, which sucks, because I used to kinda like Chapel, but NOT anymore. And it doesnt help that AFTER Chapel, for about 15 minutes, we have to go back to our house teacher's class room and have "House Time", which I HATE, because all we do is reflect on Chapel (which is always the same lesson EVERY week! its always Joseph's Coat or Fruits of the Spirit or Daniel and the Lions Den! like, do u know how many times ive heard those stories! i know them better than my own than my own life!). after Chapel, the whole day's messed up, because of House Time, passing period's like 8 minutes later, which is suuuuper annoying because i'd be in 3rd period, they all of a sudden, the bell rings at like 10:26, like, its not a normal time, and 4th period is the weirdest, because we get like 20 minutes in, and then, oh! its lunch, now we have to come back to this class after. i wish we didnt have House Groups.

Our kids have thrived spiritually, socially, and academically at Lighthouse. Teachers, staff, and admin are exceptional at what they do and there seems to be a spirit of joy in the school. Students seem largely engaged in the learning and teachers seem to love the students and enjoy teaching. A couple of our kids are HiCap-qualified and they've been challenged at every grade level. Two of our kids also have ADHD and we've worked hard at home to find medication and support that helps them be successful in school. Their teachers have been excellent partners with us in this. It's important to know that students can expect an hour of homework (plus reading) each night, at least in 4th-8th grade. We've learned that parent support is important for students to be successful (listing to younger kids read at night, helping 4th graders practice spelling words, revising middle school essays, etc.). A Biblical Worldview is woven through all coursework and we've been so grateful for the way teachers/staff reflect Christ to our kids. It's been a financial sacrifice to send our kids to Lighthouse, but now that the older ones are moving into HS, we feel like Lighthouse has been such a gift to our family.

Lighthouse is not only an amazing school but a great community of families, faculty and admin that teach the truth of the Gospel of Jesus. The truth of scripture is laced throughout everything that they do. The academics are EXCELLENT. The accreditation that the carry and the high expectations of teachers and families pushes kids to their full potential. You will walk in and have people introduce themselves and engage you with kindness and belonging. I highly recommend this school.

Lighthouse has been an incredible gift to our family. The school challenges our children academically, encouraged their spiritual growth, and provides ample opportunities for well a rounded education. Lighthouse is helping them build a firm foundation in Christ while building confidence in who they are academically. We could not imagine a better setting for our children to grow and flourish.

Lighthouse Christian School is truly a blessing to our family. I’m amazed by how the school remains financially accessible while offering exceptional faculty and a high-quality curriculum. My three children are being equipped with a worldview and skills that will create a lasting impact for generations, thanks to this remarkable community.

Unfortunately the school does not pay enough to keep good teachers in place. The result is most of the "good ones" leave and you're left with a revolving door of people qualified enough to teach here, but not qualified enough for public school.

All of elementary school consists of nothing but photocopied worksheets and fill in the blanks. There is nothing creative that the teachers are doing.

There is no special education that is offered at this school.

My child was bullied extensively when in 4th grade and we had to "prove it" to the vice principal. There was no investigation performed, there were no repercussions for the involved students, the VP prayed with everyone about the event and that was the end.

All of the family engagement moments happen while giving money, which if you don't have much to give means that you're not engaging with other families.

My child attended lighthouse for Kindergarten and it was not a good experience. They expect their students to fit into a perfect box and they do not embrace differences that each individual brings. Their academics are pedestrian and not creative at all. It is all mostly traditional book learning and worksheets with very little opportunities for gifted students to be challenged to learn more and no opportunities for students to look into their own interests. The community was very "cliquey" and not welcoming to us as a new family.

not sure of the criteria for this question -- too subjective.

7 years experience / results with two children -- the kids are learning, well ahead of public schools (5th grader exceeds Olympic College Running Start academic criteria). Our experience with other LHCA students knowledge, skills, & abilities is "mind boggling" compared to local public school students

same as previous -- 7 years experience / results with two children & their friends + observation at events

Leadership seems to exceed what we would consider to be requirements. Every meeting leadership is able to answer questions on preparedness plans (threat assessment, disaster, fire ...), academic programs, plans for future improvements to continue preparing students to meet new challenges, e.g., coding ... Overall very impressive.

there isn't any bullying, etc -- part of the character building & Christian ethics

We switched our kids from our local public school to Lighthouse last year and despite the fact that we have great public schools in GH, we've been so thrilled to be at Lighthouse. Our kids are thriving academically, spiritually, socially and athletically. They've made great friends and love going to school. As a former public elementary school teacher, I've noticed an awesome quality in the LCS teachers we've had - they seem to enjoy the students, which I haven't seen at every school. They smile and laugh a lot and make learning fun and engaging. The kids treat one another respectfully. We have a student who is bright and a high achiever and another kiddo who is academically average and has some attention struggles. Both are challenged and supported at their levels. The reading level of one of our kids went rose 3 grade levels last year! Her teacher was just so encouraging and seemed to make learning fun for her. The faculty seems to reflect the love, grace, patience and joy of Christ... it's cool to watch! I'd highly recommend taking a tour of Lighthouse if you're looking for a Christian school in GH!

Living the faith mission. Simple as that. We are a Catholic family, and this was the best choice for our daughter. We just wish we had made it sooner! Caring, enthusiastic and genuine from the principal, teachers, student and parents. Challenging coursework (finally). Best place ever. Sorry we have been relocated East coast...there is nothing like lighthouse!!!

I have been a part of the Lighthouse community for 11 years and have two children who have grown up in this nurturing, academic environment. We have been so grateful for the diligence, care, and compassion of each of our kids' teachers. Each year helped to shape them into solid, responsible young adults. Now that our youngest is nearly finished with middle school, I recognize the huge value of the incredible teachers he has had over the last two years--Godly men and women who understand the hearts of middle schoolers and aren't afraid to hold them to a high standard as they show them the love of Christ. I am SO thankful we have this option for our children. The education far exceeds many aspects of the public school equivalent, even in our district, and the people are amazing. I see older comments about the middle school lacking quality. This is absolutely no longer the case!
