My son enjoys going to school. The only problem I have is it’s hard to get in contact with the principal. I tried to reach her several times with the office staff, even left my number not a single phone call from her.

If you are considering moving to this area, don't get hung up on the current rating (7/10). As a military family we have experienced schools all over the country and Chloe Clark is a wonderful school. They instill great values and character in their students. They teach effectively and engage their students. We couldn't have asked for a better school for our daughter to attend K-3!! All of our teachers each year were outstanding, and I find it hard to believe that we just got lucky. The Right at School program is also a very nice feature for working parents. 10/10 !

The faculty and staff of Chloe Clark elementary school are 1st class. This school has been a blessing to our military family. Each and every time we have expressed any concern we have received positive response promptly. Our son has excelled in the curriculum in both 1st grade and 2nd grade. If we had the chance our son would remain at Chloe Clark throughout the remainder of this year and next. We feel it is rare to find an elementary school of this caliber, and even more rare to find such a caring principle, who has great pride in the accomplishments of his educators.

My girls had a wonderful experience at Chloe Clark from Spring 2014 to June 2017. When my older daughter experienced bullying, the principal and counselor were quick to meet with the students and develop "contracts." The principal and counselor followed up with me for two months to ensure problems were resolved. My daughter also participated in a weekly group to talk about bullying, being more assertive, and practicing communication skills. My middle daughter, who has an IEP, experienced the Developmental Preschool and is currently completing 1st grade. The Special Education team has really been our partners in making sure that my daughter received all the services, supports and accommodations to ensure she succeeded. In fact, the team worked to make sure my daughters services were never in jeopardy and actually increased services based on parent suggestions. We will miss this school!

This school brags about the achievement scores from state testing. If you do a little research, you will see that while it may "test high", those marks are the "high" of the low end for the state. We moved here as a military family & had heard great things about this school district. My kids are academically about a full year ahead of the grades they are in because they aren't learning anything new. We're worried that when we move again, our kids will be behind. It's like they have lost a full year. I have to agree w/ what others have written about this school in regards to chaos. The classrooms are out of control. Spend 10 minutes in the cafeteria and you will see. Kids running around w/ minimal supervision. The noise level is so high, that the few women supervising have to yell in a microphone or bull horn to get the attention of the students. The classes are habitually late to lunch, leaving about 10 minutes to eat...wonder how childhood obesity starts?... Go observe the drop off and pick up situation. It's not a matter of "if" someone will get hit, it is "when". Cars speeding through school zones. Principal is no where to be found. Teachers send kids out the doors w/ no supervision. Kids dart in between cars! Someone stated that the principal is "warm and personable". Okay? He lacks any decisiveness on real issues. He is passive, patronizing & is the butt of community jokes. This school has NO control over bullying. They say "zero tolerance", but it's more like "pretend it doesn't happen". PE is a joke. Ask the PE teacher what the state mandated learning standards are that he follows. He can't tell you. Most of the time, the kids have "free time" in PE. They might as well be at recess. Do I sound picky? Maybe. But my children deserve the best education they can receive, and so do yours. Would love to afford private school, but can't. But that doesn't mean my kids should suffer. We will be happy to move from this school. A note to other military: DuPont is fun for neighborhood activities, friendly neighbors and local businesses. But if you have school age kids, think twice. This school DOES NOT provide support specific to military kids. Your kids will experience a less than adequate education. My spouse and I are both educated w/ masters degrees. We understand the importance of good education. Your kids won't get that at this school. Stay on post.

My child attended Chloe Clark for two years, for grades 2 and 3. The students' experience largely depends on his or her specific teacher. I've seen some great teachers and a couple not so great ones.

Overall the staff has been pleasant and the principal, Mr. Yoho, is warm and personable. Each day starts in the community room at 9:05 for the pledge of Allegiance and for announcements including Groovy News, which highlights individual student's achievements. Personally I do not think this is a waste of time like a previous commenter has said. This seems to be a good way to get all the students to feel as a community as well as a good and organized way to send kids off to their classes.

The school has enrichment or "specials" classes for Music, PE, Library and Counselor. During 3rd grade kids can join the choir too. The PTA programs were good the two years we were there. This included science night, art walks, a carnival, and Friday movie nights. Each month the school has an assembly called Friday Sing which my child enjoyed.

The downside, the food can be a lot better in the cafeteria. And half day schedules can be rather chaotic. Also for Kindergarten parents children only go to school half the day unless they opt for the full day schedule where your child only comes in for a few days a week.

We've been at Chloe for 2 years now. I feel that staff is very caring. The PTA programs are outstanding!! They're our favorite part of the school. As a former educator, I feel the academic bar is set VERY low. I don't know if that's due to the Common Core BS or lack of funding. Kindergarten was way too many mindless worksheets (really - 4 worksheets a week on sight words, like the word "no"?!). I keep wondering when they'll integrate the STEM stuff into their curriculum (Science Technology, Engineering, Math). The evening PTA program actually do a great job hitting these areas. It's just a shame it's not done in the classroom. I'm not crazy about the Community time thing - it's kind of a waste of time. That being said, there are some outstanding folks who work here. My son feels welcome and likes his school. I feel it's a pretty safe school without major behavior problems.

Chloe Clark is hands down one of the best elementary schools in Pierce County! A caring school environment in a very safe town, DuPont. I wish the school went beyond the 3rd grade! The seasoned teachers are great!

We are military, and we decided to rent in DuPont and pay the higher housing rates because of the good school ratings. Big mistake. My son attended Kinder in another state, achieved quite a bit, and had a great time, all while learning. Then came the move here, and Chloe Clark 1st grade. His teacher almost immediately began calling me, saying she was worried about him not sitting in his chair, he liked to stand at his desk and do his work. Odd, but ok. I could see how this could be disruptive in a class of many kids, but then at the first teacher's conference, we were bombarded with insinuations we needed to get him "seen by docs and tested" like if he were medicated he would be easier to deal with? excuse me? Then she flat out told us that because he seemed a little emotionally behind other kids his age that he was "odd." Wow. I really don't see how this woman can teach 1st grade, she came across like a high school teacher with less than a caring attitude. When I found out this teacher was being fast-tracked towards administration, we immediately pulled him out and began a homeschooling and Montessori approach where he is above grade level at the moment.

This school is very disorganized and chaotic. My daughter is in Kindergarten, and it is so difficult to keep track of the homework and activities. I email and call, and I do not get a response for a week or two, and no one ever answers the phone in the office or the classroom. My daughter got lost on the 2nd day of Kindergarten, and when I talked this over with the principal and the teacher, they basically blamed her for not getting on the right bus. Security is terrible at the school. Anyone can just walk into the school and down the hall and no one ever questions it. At pickup time it is pure chaos, anyone can just go grab a kid, or take a kid home who isn't theirs. I fear for the people who have custody situations. I've seen children stand outside in the snow, alone, for 20 minutes when their parents were late and no one approached the child. If both parents work, you will find it very difficult to be involved, as the volunteer opportunities are made for stay at home moms, and if you aren't one of them, you are not included. Our particular teacher also dresses like she just rolled out of bed, but yet complained when my daughter wore pajamas to school.

Principle assured me he would communicate to my daughter's teacher regarding my concerns... NEVER DONE. Throwing rocks and playing with sticks and broom handles are allowed. My child was hurt and the child who hurt her was reprimanded only when we pressed....intentional games of hurting another are allowed on school grounds. Very sad with how the communications were delivered to us and very sad that assured follow up never done. Overall pleased but this has left us with a feeling of distrust.

This school showed a complete disregard for my daughter's IEP and made her feel unwelcome. The administration showed a complete lack of interest in our daughter's needs and made sure that she would not be able to attend school there with her twin sister. I cannot in good conscious recommend this school or school district to anyone with a child with any type of special needs.

Chloe Clark is an oustanding school, and my husband and I could not be more pleased with our kids' time there. The staff is exceptionally caring and professional, and the principal is someone who is always working to make the school even stronger. Everyone associated with the school puts forward a positive attitude that just makes you want to join in! As a military family who has been exposed to many schools, Chloe Clark is simply great!

We have been at the school for 3 years now and will be devastated to leave next year. As a mother of a special needs kiddo, I could not be happier with the care we've received. The teachers are AMAZING, working hard with the parents to do what works best for the student. The administration is supportive and wiling to listen to concerns. It has been a dream situation.

Chloe Clark Elementary was a great experience for our 3 years there! We loved the combination of enlisted, officer and civilian kids! The evergreen trees in the back are just beautiful. The staff is supportive of military as well as the school counselor. The gifted program is fantastic as well.

We were very disappointed in the education at this school. There may be a handful of good teachers here, but there are also some of the worst we have ever seen. The principal is completely ineffective and allows the teachers to do whatever they want. He smiles and acts like he hears the concerns of a parent but then never does anything to rectify the situation. Academics are not pushed. They are more worried about community time, than the fact that their teachers are failing to push their students to grade level work. We also found the fact that anyone can walk into the school at any time and completely bypass the office, to be a safety concern. The school has potential, and great facilities, as well as a great supportive community. Hopefully one day it can reach that potential but it is currently failing to meet even the minimal standards at this time.

Principal is highly inneffective and hides from conflict. Exceptionally poor communication form the Principal on all fronts without exception. The Kindergarten teacher my son had should not be teaching anything anywhere, but 3 years later she is still there despite complaints and concerns from multiple families.

I completely agree. The first grade teacher that my son had was the worst teacher I've ever seen. She has no idea how to manage a classroom and defaults to sending kids out in the hallway or to the principal's office for typical 1st grade behavior. She has no idea how to effectively discipline the classroom or work with children to modify their behavior. Additionally, she never talks to the parents and ignores suggestions on how to improve the classroom environment. The principal, in way over his head, simply parrots the teachers and does whatever they say rather than working to solve problems. For a newly constructed school in an affluent area, Chloe Clark is a huge disappointment. I tell my friends to pray they don't get my son's teacher!

Two major school subjects, science and social studies, were dropped from the curriculum without parent notification. We found out when we saw the report card after the second trimester. We were told that funds were not available when enquiring at a parent teacher meeting, with no plans to reinstate it for the remainder of the school year. There were expensive items, such as smart-boards, that were not being utilized by all teachers, yet not enough money for essential academic subjects. We also had problems with Community Time--tardy children were barred from entering. Kids were put on the spot with announcing their birthday plans, given the mike in front of the whole school--it created a cliquish environment embarrassing those students who did not engage in the more popular and expensive activities. Our student's teacher did not communicate things to us in a professional and effective way. Our student had academic difficulties, and on more than one occasion those difficulties were communicated to us in a way that made is seem like a personal affront to the teacher, rather than a problem that we could collaborate on together to bring learning and growth to our child.

I enjoyed most of the teaching staff. But, my children were miserable because it was very clicky and the counselor did a great job with PR for the school and a miserable job with children who struggle to cope. The school can be very good for popular children. For example, at morning community time, a microphone is given to the birthday child where they have the choice to announce what their birthday plans are. For a child who can't afford go to great wolf lodge, throw a big party, or is not invited to parties, this seems insensitive and even clueless. Supervision on the playground could be better in terms of preventing bullying.

Chloe Clark is my daughter's 3rd school in the local area and by far the best of them all. The appearance of the school is very impressive and can lead you to believe that school is based on appearances, however the staff and the principal are equally impressive. The have a great bus system and although we weren't able to use the (paid) all-day kindergarten, it is one of very few public schools in the area that offer all day kindergarten. My only complaint is that outside of YCARE, the only child care option in the area is the Mini-Skool which is grossly overpriced. Very happy overall.

We have had some outstanding teachers at Chloe Clark school and the environment is very positive. The building is beautiful and the student body is well behaved. We have had an enjoyable experience at Chloe Clark for the most part. There are areas of improvement needed. 1. There are WAY too many days off of school. And school is canceled for any dusting of snow at all (district problem, not the school's problem). 2. The KGN program is grossly lacking in academic rigor. Parents are made to feel very welcome and we feel this is the best school in the area. Thank you Chloe, for the efforts you've made!

Chloe Clark is a school with great potential but in need of major changes. It is very chaotic and it seems to be gross lack of organization. My first impression was open house night when the poor teacher was just stood in a reception line for 45 min so she couldn t give out any useful information. Anything useful was trickled home over the next 3 weeks or only provided when I asked for it which made it very hard to get into a routine. (I am a military spouse with 3 children, 2 in school and fairly organized, just to give a bit of background.) Instead of having all fees paid at once, we received note after note asking for money, but with 2 children in school I had to send in separate checks for each child. One was $3 fee for the use of a pedometer and another $8 for a planner for my kindergartener (you know, who cannot read or write yet). Community time is useless if you pay attention to your child at all. They spend 15 minutes of the day talking about the lunch menu, weather and singing happy birthday. The lunch room is loud and disorganized so there isn t a lot of time for your kids to eat, only 20 minutes and they have to stand in line to get lunch then eat.

I have mixed feelings about Chloe Clark. The staff is very friendly, warm and welcoming, and they sincerely care about the welfare of the children. However, the academic rigor is lacking. My school loving first grader started crying before school because she was not challenged with the work they were doing in class. Literally, the homework she was bringing home was on the level of what she completed in preschool! My husband and I both spoke with the teacher, but she just kept telling us what we could do at home. For 2nd grade, we decided and the WAVA program and loved it!

We have had two children at Chloe Clark for three years and have had nothing but excellent experiences. The principal, staff and teachers are outstanding. While another parent commented that Community Time and Friday Sing are not good uses of time, I would argue that those two events are two of the best examples of why you would want your child here: every morning they start off with a positive event where kids are recognized for their accomplishments and on the last day of the week the kids are released with a great feeling from participating in the singing. The teachers (including PE, music & library) really care about the students. We will be sorry to move on when the time comes.

From the caring and capable principal and administrators, to the intelligent and optimistic teachers and staff, this school is amazing! Although it is growing rapidly, they are able to maintain a small-school feel and everybody there knows my 2nd grader's name. Every year she attends she claims is better than the last, and her kindergarten year was great -- so the bar was set pretty high! I appreciate the way every person at the school goes way above my expectations and I have yet to have a truly negative experience since my daughter started attending Chloe three years ago. Education is extremely important to our family and I cannot think of a better environment for my daughter's happiness and scholastic achievement. The school is filled with other happy kids and parent involvement is high.

This school is the best schools my children have attended. As a military family who have lived and schooled in more than one country we found this school to be excellent in meeting the needs of a military family. The ladies in the office are friendly and incredibly helpful. Mr Yoho will deal with any issues that you may have and the community feeling is just lovely. We moved from the area just last week and leaving the school was the hardest part.

The school is all about appareance their community time and friday sing along Huge waste of time.Community time most of the times is a drug and they keep going and going on silly meaningless subjects 20 to 25 minutes that the kids could use for a fresh start in the morning.The teachers are very incompetent and shallow.The vice principal Mrs Kozyra was one of the school best asset but she's gone now.The principal has no leadership whatsoever.Dont judge a bokk form its cover that's the only advice a have.
