I went to this school for 7th and 8th last year so I can give a firsthand experience. The teachers were okay, there were a few teachers who actually try to do the right thing and are respectful, but most of them either targets other students or theyre just bad teachers. Campus safety was just a waste of time and they would never let the other student talk, thinking they know the whole story. I got tired of going in there real quick. Not to mention the new associate administrator, she suspended us for one kiss. Not like no others are doing the same but get off scot free but whatever. The teachers were big on discipline but not to teach us what we did is wrong or to show how to do otherwise, no matter your involvement in a problem theyre gonna give you consequences for basically nothing. Youre probably a parent thinking of sending your kid here, if theyre in the special group then its a good program. MOST of the kids are nice to them but if they have trigger words then watch out. I would say to sum it all up is the sports are good, foods alright, nice librarian. I even got my name on the library plaque for 2024! But honestly the learnings not the best here but all the extra curricular things are good.

This school absolutely sucks! I have three children that go here and it seems like all they want to do is discipline children for next to nothing, I highly recommend not sending you kid her if you can help it. The principal will not hear anything you have to say when called upon and there staff targets students and does more bullying than the students. They hand out lunch and after-school detentions as if they were candy and make parents feel like they aren't raising there kids right. There are a few teachers that are actually interested in teaching our little ones but very limited. My wife also heard over the phone campus security call my son a snitch but will not admit nothing and the principal says "my staff would never do that" own your mistakes and take accountability like you want our children to do! My children used to love to go to school now they dred it, thats sucks!

This is a brand new school that brought over many good teachers, but unfortunately, they cant keep many of these teachers because of utter leadership incompetence. Staff dont feel heard and many feel downright unsafe.
The principal is ill-prepared or unwilling to address disciplinary issues, and there have been many safety issues at the school that either werent properly dealt with, or were not communicated to parents in a timely matter.
On top of that, the principal has an oppositional attitude towards parents. Even getting her to allow dances, after school events and clubs is like pulling teeth.
Do better, ISD!

Last year My son went here and was bullied repeatedly with no consequences for the bullying. My son is now homeschooled and in 8th grade. I went to the principle, the teachers, the school counselors, and only when someone was being physical did my son retaliate. Then they decided to have a conference about the things that happened. If you dont want your child emotionally scarred due to feeling like the adults who are suppose to care, simply dont, then I suggest you look at less violent, more involved schools who take things like this seriously.
If anyone would like to speak to me about the school in more detail, I would be more than willing.

Cougar Mountain Middle School is an amazing school with great teachers. I had 2 kids in CMMS 1 being in the special education program and they have done amazing work in helping them get what he needs. The teachers and the whole staff are amazing and so very helpful. IF there is a problem or anything they are very fast to call me back and help me out. My other son that is in the normal class setting is amazing they are fast to answering the student or even allowing them to stay after school to get help with school work..

All the teachers are great and are always fast to help the students and parents if needed. They also stay after school with study hall or test makeup so the students have the best chance to do the best they can
