I recently removed my son from Harrison prep due to some factors; One reason I moved my son out of this school is because the amount of bullying there is. I entered the classroom with my son, halfway through the class, I heard Multiple racial slurs towards me and my son. It was loud enough for the teacher to hear, Yet nothing was said to these students. The majority of students here are hispanic I would say. My son told me that the dis obedient students are best friends with admins so they always get out of trouble.
My daughter that I also have moved from this school told me she would get bullied by 8th graders and 11th graders that were in a friend group together. My daughter told a teacher but yet nothing has been done about it. My daughter also told me that the bathrooms would smell like nicotine vapor and weed.
I recommend not to bring your child to this school for their own safety.

We were excited our daughter made it into this school as her teachers had recommended it for her. Shortly after her first month she said she was 'gender fluid'. When asked what that meant she simply replied that what she had been told by her teachers. I think we have more pressing issues in our schools then teacher telling our children such things. Can we not just let them be children??

I’ve been at HP for 3 years, currently on my 4th year. I’m in 9th grade. For middle school, the teachers are much stricter because they want them to have “structure”. Once you get to high school, the teachers are much more chill and it’s a lot easier to manage all the homework and social interaction along with sports if you play them at other schools. The only thing I’d change at HP is having sports teams at the school. Especially football and track. Like most other high schools.

I have not heard about any bullying happening at this school, my daughter is a Freshman and she loves this school!

We love this school, our experience so far is amazing. Academics are highly encouraged and I do love that.

My daughter went from homeschooling since K to 7th grade at HP, and has been very successful so far. Her teachers are supportive, relatable, and engaging. Overall, she enjoys school at HP. It has been a great experience for her.

My experience here was horrible, the kids here are extremely rude and the teachers are no better, I can honestly say that I would not have graduated (due to dropping out) if I were still at this school, the teachers (for the most part) are no better and think they can say whatever they want about who ever they want along with never teaching then blaming the students for failing although they never got a good lesson to begin with.

Every teacher assigns way too much homework and expects it all to get done so there would be times I spend 5-6 hours doing homework with no care from my teachers or principal.

Like was said before, most teacher here don't really care, some teachers even GOSSIPING about other teachers and EVEN students with others in the room.

No single student I know here has been taught any of this, most students bully each other with no punishment other than "don't do it again"

Like said before, when a student is bullied all they do is bring in the bully and say "Don't do it again" and then the bully typically brings out a sob story about something and just gets let go to continue the bullying

Great Schools needs to update or review there cite. Harrison has been ranked the 3rd best High school in Washington State and 101 out of the the entire nation.

My son has experienced bullying but the staff has been responsive to addressing it. Mr. Harris is an amazing teacher that went out of his way to do some sensitivity exercises in class. I am hopeful that with staff support these children (and it is just a couple of them) will learn how to be more respectful peers. I can't really say at this time weather the schools follow through as a whole will be effective enough to deal with bullying, however I do appalled their efforts thus far.

Mr. Rupprecht is an amazing principal. He is very hands on and you can always find him in the hallways or the cafeteria having lunch with the kiddos. He is very approachable if you have any concern and he's office door is open which makes him welcoming. Kids love how nice he is and he genuinely cares about his students.

Some teachers are just there for the money but I must say that most of then care about their students and making sure they are helping them with their leaning.

Mr. Rupprecht (principal), Mrs. Vlaming and Mrs. Roberts (secretary) are amazing. The Guidance Counselor is always willing to give advise and help your student. Most of the teachers are very hands on. I love that they would send emails with my kiddos progress and if I have a concern they are reachable by email and I must say, they do respond back (by email or phone call),

My son loves this school. We came from a parochial school which was very challenging and Harrison Prep has proven to be it's equal.

Others are saying this is a No Bully Zone, but that is not accurate if your child is a Military Kid. If you are a "Townie" you are apparently allowed to bully the Military Kids. The Dean ignores the bullying of Military Kids and openly allows children who are Townies to rule the halls. She doesn't enforce discipline unless it is a Military kid being disciplined. The Dean is a hold over from the precious Principal, Mrs. Boyd who is thankfully gone. However, this school is still suffering from the lack of positive leadership that Mrs. Boyd used. The new Principal has a real up hill battle to make everything right for this school. Teachers are not following the IB standards as they are supposed too. This school should loose its IB certification.

New principal this year. But the Dean and the others are hold overs from the previous principal who was a disaster of a leader. Mr. R. MIGHT be able to turn it around, but I am not willing to stay and see.

This school is absolute no bully zone. It also has a strict code for plagiarism, especially if you're a 11th or 12th grader. Plagiarism will get you kicked out of the Diploma Program(DP)

Harrison Prep is a good school to nerd and geek out at. I've been going there since the 8th grade and I'm now a 10th grader. These years so far have been fun and slightly challenging. The classes aren't too easy, so I don't have to worry about being bored in class. The teachers really try get their students learning and teach in different styles, so kids if have different learning styles they don't have to worry about falling behind. It's a strictly no bully zone, which is awesome, because the school I went to before this one, I was bullied by a teacher. Making this schools ABSOLUTE NO BULLY zone amazing. Though the skits to teach kids on how not to be bully and how to follow school guidelines is super cheesy and a tad bit cringy. It doesn't have sports, but it's because it focuses mainly on academics. The also encourages and has clubs dedicated to volunteering in the community. We also moved school buildings in 2016, so the school now has lockers and digital clocks. To enroll you have to write a short essay, but its not difficult. Anyway you should go to HP if you have the chance! 15 Sep. 2016 -A Student

This is a great place to learn, mature and participate in school and community activities. My son has so enjoyed the relationships he has been able to make with teachers during his high school years. Having the same caring teachers for four years did wonders for him. He is now prepared for anything life may throw at him. Parents who make the effort to partner with this school will be greatly rewarded.

My family has been dealing with HP for the past two years, and have never been more disappointed with a school, or a district, ever. The administration at the school are mostly rude and short, and it is hard to get anything accomplished. Phone calls are not returned and the fact that they have a principal, a VP and a dean of students and still can't run a school well should tell you something.

My daughter is in 6th grade and it is her first year. The school seems very disorganized and staffs/teachers are poorly guided. It seems there seriously lack communication and do not even respond to parents' calls. I am going to wait to see how the rest of this year goes and if it continues like this, I am definitely putting my daughter in another school. It just seems there is no pride in quality of education and mentoring students. Perhaps their focus is more on older students in high school...I am not sure. It has been very disappointing dealing with them as it seems they do not take responsibility. I plan on bringing this to the principal's attention to see how she handles. - a very concerned parent

i went to Harrison prep during 7th grade and sense i moved to fort belvoir in Virginia because of being in the military i miss the teachers that helped me during school and after school i also miss the students.I liked how the teachers helped when you were failing classes by explaining it better.i think Harrison prep should be a little bigger and have locker rooms and only have 6-12 grade because everyone got along better and just adding like kids will be very distracting because of the screaming and etc.... this school is the best out of all schools i have been to.i wish it didn't have to changes.

I am not sure what Harrison the other people are talking about here but our experience with Harrison has been lack luster, The Principal is rude and unengaged and the teachers are for the most part awful. My daugheter's test scores and gpa have plummetted due the lack of teaching. They are disorganized and horrible to work with. If you complain then they take it out on your student. Diligently looking for another school for my child to attend!!! 6th grade was a waste of time..I only pray that it is not too late to get my child back on track!

Hi I am a 7th grade student and I used to go to harrison prep this was one of my very favorite schools my family is in the military so we move around alot and this school is so welcoming and kind the teachers are good the kids are nice the kids there don't bully people. At the school that I have been going to there has been bullying like nothing I've ever seen. I went to freedom park elementary but the teachers were terrible so this is my first day being homeschooled. Harrison prep is one of the best schools I have ever been to the only thing that I would change about it is maybe to get lockers.
