I've had multiple students go through BLHS. Some of my students have been highly academic and others, not so much. Regardless, I have found that the school is top notch when it comes to its teachers and staff members. They regularly go above and beyond to build relationships with the students and to support them when needed.

Character
This school develops strong character in its students, like integrity, compassion and respect
-POWER (Perseverance, Ownership, Work Ethic, Engagement, and Respect are everywhere throughout the school.
-Our children loved it at BLHS.

Teachers
Teachers at this school are effective
-Teachers are amazing as stated above.

I'm a senior now, and I came here as a Sophomore. At first, I was too shy to speak out against the discriminations, but now, I have literally gotten a law changed regarding Native students wearing regalia to graduation. But not without hearing about how hated I am for being Native, autistic, and LGBT+, from both students and staff.

Posted: April 14, 2020

Respect is one of our main keywords, yet the principal was repeatedly disrespected my family by telling us our (Native) culture isn't as important as his (white) culture, and my friends by not following 504 Plans, and doing nothing about the bullying and harassment of LGBT+ students.

Fantastic teachers! Our son has had an amazing experience with both teachers and student peers. He is in the tennis program. Coach Delapp teaches qualities of respectful sportsmanship, integrity, and kindness that benefits the kids for a lifetime.

We have found it to be good on a scale of poor to great.

Some are and some are not. Our son is somewhat perplexed by the liberal leaning tendency of some teachers filling their heads with political points of view that we don't agree with in our household. I would like them to teach the basics for heading into college and not spend time on political perspectives...to me it's like talking about Mohammad or the Muslim faith to Jewish kids...it's personal and has no place in education.

I think for the most part the teachers work to develop the BLHS mantra of POWER...which is a good thing in my opinion.

Posted: October 19, 2019

I don't find the principal to be very engaging as a parent. He seems to be more concerned over his image than working/communicating with parents. Even though our kids are honor students they find their own way in terms of where they are heading. After 4 years of our one son being a 4.0 student with numerous AP classes he still did not know his name...it's kind of a shame.

I have had one son graduate and one son is now a junior. The staff here is amazing. There are definitely teachers and staff who care about the kids. The principal has brought a level of accountability to the school, so that every kid has a chance to graduate.

Great environment! Teachers and administrators all seek student improvement and are important tools in achieving success. All are willing to help. The student body is all one large community. Truly a great school to attend.

The teachers will actually spend time and will help students with almost everything

In the last five weeks I have filed three reports regarding profanity and tobacco abuse, non have been acknowledged.

Depends upon the student, age and such.

Posted: November 3, 2016

Very few students take any of our authoritative figures seriously.

Posted: November 3, 2016

Many students here are so rude to one another that I, being a senior myself this year, have only one friend; my cat. Every one of my peers having glaring flaws that clearly were never enforced by the staff or their parents. No class, lesson, assembly or otherwise has affected the way the student body treat one another.

This is dependent upon the teacher. A personal favorite of mine, Dean Peck, made this experience at Bonney Lake High School worthy whereas other teachers such as Robert Nix remind the students that some of their staff is still too unexperienced or hastily generalize the student body into one prejudice.

Posted: November 3, 2016

Certain classes assign homework that helps, while others assign homework that only promotes confusion amongst students.

Posted: November 3, 2016

Poor teaching from staff, hypocrisy from authoritative figures, limitations on personal rights (right to speech, press, religion, et.), constantly changing expectation platform, staff arrangement and guidance counseling, and student body makes this four year experience distasteful, stressful, oppressing and unforgiving.

Bonney Lake HS. Don't expect any help from this admin if your child is being sexually harrassed, either in person or electronically. They all have PhDs in BLAME THE VICTIM.

After comparing this High School- the high school I would've gone to had my life not changed it's obscure route- To the High School I ended up going to, I now understand why fate has placed me where it did today. Mountain View Middle School feeds into BLHS, and some of the students there are not friendly. Also, this district is not as academically challenging as the one I am in now. This district does not push students to their full potential.
